Mitch Lawrence of the Daily News Sports Writer submitted this piece this morning, stating that New York may be interested in looking elsewhere in the rebuilding efforts and that Joel Przybilla may be a target.

Among big men, the Knicks reportedly have talked about Portland's Joel Przybilla and Memphis' Marc Gasol.  However, they have concerns about Przybilla's health and whether he'd be a good fit in their offense.  With Marcus Camby out for at least a month following knee surgery, Przybilla is starting now and perhaps will be able to allay some concerns that he has not fully recovered from a severe knee injury.
Rope a dope.  For starters, the Knicks have relatively nothing of interest to Portland to offer in trade.  Portland's interest in Anthony Randolph has reportedly cooled, the Chris Johnson signing further evidence of this.  While I do believe that Joel will be the only rotational player moved before the deadline, I would be surprised if he were to go to the Big Apple.

Mitch Lawrence does say that Orlando is also interested in acquiring a big, presumably as a back-up for Howard.  Orlando would make a much more attractive trade partner.  With the February 24 trade deadline almost upon us, look for more of this posturing, as the NBA and it's vast fan base become hosts to the worlds largest poker game.

I just don't see what the Knicks would have to offer than would be enticing enough to deal away Przybilla. I've always filed Joel under the category of "He means more to us, than you."

The Knicks have no future 1st round picks in the short-term and I'm just not sold on Randolph.

My thoughts EXACTLY.  I'm also not buying what NY is selling...that they have given up on the pursuit of Anthony.

Orlando just released "White Chocolate"...it would be pretty sick to see him run with LA, Nico, Rudy and Wes. I know it won't happen, however it would be be fun to watch.

Orlando, I think, can't give up anyone right now. The way their guys meshed up, it would be hard for them to give up someone.

As for White Chocolate, he might end up retiring if he gets signed up. Remember what he did when he was traded to the Clippers.

I would like to see Marc Gasol and Tony Parker on this team. It would be lethal to see the Spanish Armada allied with the French Empire.

Chris Johnson needs some play time and if he is as good as I think we could let Joel go to NY or Orlando for 2-2nd rounders because there is a lot of talent at PF and C in the college ranks that could be acquired in the 2nd round. Joel is getting old and is he worth all the millions he is getting? Get draft picks now for the 2012 Dwight Howard lottery.

we have too many injury isues to our bigs; we're not trading Joel for draft picks. he's the only healthy (go with me on that) true center we have at the moment. Marcus is likely to return right around the trade deadline and then we'll have two. i just don't see us trading away Joel. the proponents of this trade seem to want to trade just for the sake of making a trade. though it's not going to happen, be careful what you wish for.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

Hawes was playing nice this season and would be a good pick up imo ...

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
