What must Portland do to knock off Boston?
    Limiting Boston's second-chance opportunities (5)
     15%
    Disrupt Rondo's flow on offense (league-leading 13 apg) (10)
     30%
Aldridge huge night (30+ pts, 10+ rebs) (7)
     21%
    15+ fast-break points (2)
     6%
Don't let Ray Allen shoot with the game on the line (9)
     27%

After the scheduled softened up for the Trail Blazers over the last two weeks, it begins to increase in difficulty this Thursday at the Rose Garden when the East-leading Celtics roll into town. Portland will have to be firing on all cylinders to escape with a win, because Boston's size inside (Davis, O'Neal, Garnett) could give the depleted Blazers fits.

For the Trail Blazers to shock the world, they need to do these three things: 1-Take chances. Whether its pushing a fast break or playing the passing lanes, the Blazers need to go all out and play with nothing to lose. These plays will get the crowd fired up and could lead to some much-needed easy buckets. 2- Unless your man is Ray Allen, then sag into the paint. Without Camby in there, Portland will need all the help they can get from their guards on the glass. This means playing so far off of Rondo that you are practically begging him to shoot jumpers. 3-Find a way to get LA going. We saw last night how ineffective we are on offense without LA rolling. Work the pick and pop, post him out, or find him for the alley-oop.

Aldridge Huge night = aldridge huge injury

The only way to win this game is to be the better team.
    be the better athletes.
Boston is amazing this season. all of their players have been workin it out.

I dont know if any team can stop Rondo's flow. Ray Allen was born to shoot with the game on the line. You know?
    Attack their weaknesses.
    Play fast.
    Get shaq tired.
    Get KG stumblin.
Get big baby to cry man.
this has the potential to be such a hard fought game.
But most importantly, let batum fly. like that dunk he had against the kings, power right through any and every body.

If we can frustrate the Celtics, they can become their own enemy. Lets get em. Go Blazers!
And, Batum will be the man, I predict!

I vote : Disrupt Rondo's flow on offense (league-leading 13 apg) and also don't let Allen shoot for 3 so defence is the key. Good defence and balance offence with 20 points of LA and our chance to win looks good.

    GO BLAZERS !!!

We have to leave everything on the floor in this one. Execution at a near-perfect level is key. Push, push, push.

Oh, and don't let Ray Allen BURN US WITH A GAME-WINNING THREE!

Just keep Boston from dominating the boards. They already have a potent offense, but when you give Rondo, Allen, KG, Piece, and Shaq second chances, it's going to be a loooong night. It's got to be one and done every possession for the Celtics. Joel and Dante and all of our guards need to have rebounding on their minds tomorrow!

we're going to need production from the bench, and Nate needs to rotate responsibly. boston seemingly has no shortage of bigs, so we need to use our depth. we need high sctivity from Nicolas, Wesley and Rudy, and of course, LaMarcus needs to have a big night.

That's why Boston got rid of Tony Allen, he was too thin. They like their chunky players in Boston, can't have too many skinny guys on the team.

I voted for disrupting Rondo, but honestly, I don't think we have a chance at beating this team if they are playing their game. They are just too good, too composed, coached so well, and have a ton of talent.

For me the key to the game is this: Boston has a terribly off night :)

Man, Rose Garden shoulda given away free Chalupas anyway, after fans had to sit though back to back beatdowns. And this game finished badly, simply because it wasn't like the Knicks finishing off the Blazers strong with high flying dunks, or amazing behind the back drives by Tyreke and the Kings. This was just a brutally ugly game, and the Celtics hit more of their baskets. Quite a few more actually.

I didn't expect to beat Boston...BUT i am glad we gave them a little worry with about 1-2 minutes left. AND im glad it didn't come down to another Ray Allen clutch 3 to seal the deal. I'm not too disappointed. just my opinion.

AND we did leave a lot of second chance opportunities out there, and didn't execute on quite a few key possessions....

I ended up goin' to take a quick nap at half and slept through the game.  Having looked at the box score and the line for the game last night one thing secured Portland's loss: free throws.  Of course if their FG% was 50 they probably would have won too but twenty less FTs killed them.

    -More boards
    -More  steals
    -More forced turnovers
    -More FGs made
    -More points in the paint

I remember goin' into my nap irritated as hell that Portland was just getting their first FTs after 23 minutes.  Now that the players are defending Aldridge like the threat he is he's gettin' banged around every game.  That's good because it means he's getting respect from teams.  The only problem is that the officials are not sharing that respect and Aldridge is getting more and more frustrated every game.  I thought he was gonna' get a T after a turnover when he kicked at the ball.

This game should have been a W.  No Batum and lopsided FTs just killed it for Portland though.  Hopefully after a couple days of rest they'll make as strong an effort against SA without lopsided officiating keeping them out of things.

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.
