Back in 2009, he wrote this positive piece towards Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen, titled: "It's the Blazers' turn to do for Paul Allen what he's done for them"
When the Blazers make a big play at the Rose Garden, and the building is shaking, I often find my eyes drifting toward the basket on the home-bench end. Allen's seats are on one side of it. I smile when he pumps a fist, or gets on his feet, because in one of those moments I think we all relate deeply to Allen in a way we otherwise cannot.

Maybe you haven't always liked Allen or understood him. But as owners go, he's the best in sport. He grants his management autonomy, and plenty of cash. And for fans, he makes you feel as though you're all in it together.

The email that circulated internally at Allen's parent company, Vulcan Inc, talked about optimism. It was written by his sister, Jody Allen. The email pointed out that 25 years earlier her brother beat Hodgkins, and he'll continue to work around the offices, and "he has no plans to change his role."

    I think he should, though.

He carried the Blazers for so long. It's time they carry him.

And just yesterday he puts out this column, titled "Paul Allen needs to learn the lessons that Daniel Snyder has grasped"
Snyder said Tuesday, speaking at a team-owners summit in Washington, D.C., that he's matured since buying the team. He acknowledged that he's made awful errors. And he said that while he signs the paychecks, Washington is  "the fans' team."

I'm hoping other owners heard the message, but especially Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen. Because I think the Blazers big boss could learn a little, and should probably take the microphone himself at some point soon and speak to the fans who have carried the organization through some dark and shaky days under Allen's ownership.
I suppose that's the frustration in dealing with an owner such as Allen. Nobody really knows what he's trying to do, or what he thinks, because he rarely speaks and when he does, he goes vanilla and doesn't sound much like anything but a man trying not to say the wrong thing.

I'd love Allen to give a Blazers state of the union address. I'd love to hear his thoughts on where the franchise has been under his ownership, and where he thinks this is all headed. I'd like to hear Allen speak to his stakeholders, and do it directly, not through the organization's public-relations machine.
Is this organization his "basketball hobby" as it's been called by some around him? Does Allen want to turn a profit or win a championship? Does he have a plan? And just how involved is Allen in scouting and making personnel decisions?

    Real answers. Honesty. Not rhetoric.

Allen has been silent too long.

What made JC change his tune all of a sudden? Does he really believe in this writing or is he simply trying to accrue page hits? Does he have a point? Some many questions to find the answers to. What do you guys think?

Personally, Canzano is a little too "Knee-Jerk" for me to take to seriously and I think he's just trying to get people talking even thought he may genuinely feel this way about Paul Allen.

Maybe the fact that Mr Allen ordered Mills signed more than once over a back up center with Odens injury/foul history, and he is tired of pg musical chairs and waiting for Oden too ?

JC is not the only knee jerk from the Oregonian. I  wish the Blazer organization would take Nates leash of AJ and put it on Oregonian " beat writers "  .......

On that note, I used to be super supportive and bought into what the organization sold.  First time  in 10 years I did not  buy Blazer tickets this season, and I do not regret that decision. When they do stop using the same plan and expecting a different outcome, I wil buy tickets again.

JC may be a tool at times, but I agree with his concept of " if the emporer wears no pants "

Well it looks like Paul's decision to keep Patty over Ime was the correct one. Although Nate is the head coach, that is why the entire front office and management needs to be in on these types of decisions, because sometimes only 1 pair of eyes aren't enough.

As for Canzano, I'd rather not give him the page hits, so going from the snippets posted above I'm not really surprised. It's typical JC. I'm not sure how many other owners would be better than PA. Does he think you can just trade owners anyhow?

I've said it before on these boards, and it's worth mentioning again.  Radio, as a medium, is at the bottom of the totem pole.  Personalities like Canzano therefore must be sensationalists to keep ratings up, perhaps even to keep their jobs.  Take what you hear with a grain.  There are agendas behind most of it.

Listen, Canzano's having a bad time with sports around here right now, it's just a reflection of what some folks are feeling. The Ducks lost a nail biter in the biggest football game in their school's history, and Portland just lost Brandon Roy who has to undergo surgery and will more then likely miss the remainder of this year. In the meantime, the Blazers have lost games by margins that frankly, we're not used to seeing in a long while. Trailblazers management has REFUSED to hire any players to fill empty roster spots left by injuries and trades, other then Sean Marks of course. (sorry Sean, I'm sure New Zealand is wonderful, love ya homey)

"Well, we'd have to cut a roster spot to hire any new players."
Excuses, excuses. As fans, we want thunderous dunks, and wins. That's all we ask.

If you've watched this Blazer team when they lose, they are tired, tired young men. They've been carrying extra weight from not having enough reserve players to take up any slack.

We're gonna need a big guard/small forward. Maybe? Possibly? Sooner then later so's he can get in tune with the team for a playoff run??? What happens if Wesley misses a game, or Rudy, or Batum? There's nobody there Cho, it's empty.

"Well technically, Babbitt can play the starting small forward position just fine."

Well technically, the Blazers had to rush him back from the D-league just to make a the 7 man roster, not to forfeit the game about 3 weeks ago. Do you guys remember the game late last season against the Warriors, and Nelly ran outta guys he could substitute in, because his bench only had 3 guys on it and 2 of them were hurt? That was just plain embarrasing. Hopefully, hopefully, management will do the right thing so we don't see our coach and team dealing with a similar situation.

If Cho ,Miller and  Mr Allen don't see it by now, they don't want to.

Not DPOY. All American. Player of the year in his conference twice. Past four years, McCollum, Muscala, McCollum, Muscala.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
