Obviously we can compete against the best from time to time, as seen against the Miami Heat. But then we usually follow a great performance with a mediocre one against a lower ranked team. This has been the trend for the most part of this season.

Blame it on fatigue or not making shots, but i simply think we are lacking firepower. In recent games LA has been our go to guy and main scoring weapon. Wesley has been gold, but is still not yet in his prime. Other than these two, Dante and Rudy are just not consistent and i believe one of them have to go. I'm not suggesting big changes, merely minor tweaks to bring in a proven scorer to complement Wesley and LA.

I believe the pawns for such a trade would be Dante or Rudy, Dre, Armon, Patty and Prz who doesn't seem to have it anymore. Names that have been tossed up include Gerrald Wallace, Anthony Morrow, Keyon Dooling, Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris, Brandon Bass, Iguodala, JJ Redick, Aaron Brooks, Ime Udoka, Steve Nash.

P.s. This is just a thought. Maybe we should wait till the end of the season and gain more chemistry. Maybe by then we will have a fit Oden and Roy at our disposel. Thoughts on what to do/ not to do??

i can soooooooo feel you on a trade.
But with a trade, you lose some amount of chemistry, but what will counter that loss, is trading for the perfect fit for the offense.
you have some nice names up there, for some reason i like redick on this team but he would be unnecessary, he is basically Wesley Matthews without the extra hustle, but more of a dead eye.
so there are alot of factors to add.
we currently are more of a shooting team because we lack the strength and power to go down low, so you have to ask yourself , if we are moving or changing this offense, from a shooting team to a down and inside one.
do we still mess with oden?
    what about roy?
    its a deep thought question.

Aldridge is improving in the post, you're okay there. Give Roy a chance to come back, we do owe it to him for what he has done for us.

As far as trading goes, you have to look at the future. This season is pretty much done, the goal is to make the playoffs to give some light for the City, and revenue for P.A. We have got to build for next season around Aldridge and Roy.

We're OK, I'm not gonna complain about the Blazers so much today, after reading the the Cavs got trounced by the Lakers and only managed to put 57 points on the board. Gotta feel something for Cleveland fans, don't we?

@TayC - I think a trade is necessary for the future as well. It's obvious this team has built good chemistry in the past month, but team chemistry can only take you so far. Andre Miller is the big question. How long can we expect him to play at the top level for? He might be the pawn for a big trade.

You know when Oden comes back its a possibility we could play from inside out, with the double teaming of LA and Oden providing more open shots for the rest of the team. I like Redick as well, he's more accurate than Rudy and has a higher Bball IQ IMO - however he is already locked in long term with the Magic and seems happy.

Something has to be done.. because i think we already have some major pieces ofthe puzzle complete -- in LMA, Wesly, Batum, Camby, Armon and Patty -- and i see us contending in the next 2-4 years. It all hinges on making the ideal trades and the fitness of Oden and hopefully Roy.

@Bertram - If Roy never returns to his best, we still have a bright future im LMA, Wes money and Batum. Other pieces are already set with camby at back up center, Patty or Armon as back to a possible new PG, Dante (hopefully he can do a Brandon Bass) and Elliot williams. A smart trade would be the right decision and i believe it would involve rudy and Dre. I know Dre can perform at the top for more years to come. But remember once your at the top only way is down - after all he already in his mid 30's. Rudy is just not consistent.

@Tobyus - I think we're ok too. Bright future in LMA, Wes and Batum. Other pieces are already set in stone. Only a few more tweaks and 1 or 2 smart trades... we'll be right. Ohh and hopefully Oden is fully fit and beasting in the next year or so.

I know we have great role players. But this teams DNA is built around a post threat and a premier perimeter player who can penetrate and create his own shot by himself. That's what we are currently missing. Don't get me wrong I think Wes and Batum are good, but they aren't great.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
