Not in my book. People are seeing and remembering a hurt BRoy. BRoy healthy can do so much for this team.

You and many fans are taking all the great games and the positives about BRoy and multiplying by his one nagitive, his injury, and coming up with a negitve result. that works in math but not BB

I agree that the Blazers are playing better without an injured Roy.  When he returns healthy he may not be able to drive the lane like he used to but the man has and can learn to adjust his game accordingly.  Our younger and less experienced guys are taking this time to learn and improve and see what they are capable of doing without Roy.  The days of standing around and waiting for Roy to create are over and when Roy returns the confidence should be there for others to take control.  Although I know we are missing BRoy, this is a blessing in disguise and will help the team grow that much faster.

I would have to highly disagree with you. The game against Dallas and the game against Miami showed exactly how much we miss Brandon Roy. It seems like a lot of people have forgotten what brandon roy has done not only for the team, the organization, but the city of Portland in general.  Before Brandon Roy joined the blazers people were truly ashamed to say they were from Portland, and that was because of the "Jail blazer" era. Brandon Roy took us out of that, and gave us a team to be proud of, both on the court and off the court. Without him, there is no way we would have experienced a 54 win season, a 50 win season, and made it the playoffs 2 years in a row.. no way.  Instead of people talking about how much they "think" we don't need him, we should him support and let him know we are waiting for him to come back, and that we appreciate all that he has done for the city and for the team... we shouldn't kick him while he's down.

Sorry for the rant.. i just had to say it.

With that being said, no one can take away from what the blazers have done without him, they've done excellent, a tremendous job. The truth remains, however, we miss and will continue to miss a healthy brandon roy.

No team ever does not need an offensive weapon.  It was however time for the team to learn to play without everyone deferring to Roy at the end of the games.

    Next lesson needed:
     defense 101 stop the ball.
defense 102 you cant coach length.

Sorry for the double post, but I just had to.

Do you see how the team is when they don't have anyone to defer to late in games? Terri-bad. In the NBA, you put the ball into your star players hands and let him work and make the decisions. No ifs ands or buts about it.

How the team is now, you put the ball into Aldridge's hands in the post if you can.

How do they not have anyone to defer to other than Roy at the end of a game ?
Because Dre came off the bench ice cold and missed a shot against the Heat?
When teams start to double LA and deny him the ball, like they did Roy, then what?

A healthy BRoy makes the Blazers a much better team! I believe he will return this season and do everything possible to fit into the scheme when asked.  Imagine a pick-and-roll  at the end of the game with him and LA.  The defense has to pick its poison.  That's what the Heat is doing.  Since most NBA defenses can take away your first option, two solid go-to scorers gives a tremendous advantage especially at the end of games.
I am a fan of cheering our hardworking Blazer team to a championship!

Either Nic or Wes$ on the floor, make it 3 options. Camby and Dre aren't exactly slackers either. No one can double team 3 to 5 players at once.
Agree fots,  my gut says Roy will be back too. This is a learning experience that makes the team better in the long run, blown way out of proportion by the media and fans who want to believe the sky is falling.

    In the middle Tobyus :)
They played well against the Heat, until the last 2 minutes of the 4th. Nic and Wes$ can't guard the entire perimeter alone. Switch a super star with Mills guarding, that's going to continue.

The Knicks game was just bad from the start. Sometimes shots don't fall.  I need to just  copy and paste : tired legs/mental fatige = lower shooting percentage/ weaker D.
Exactly why Nate told them to get out of the gym today.

I do have to give Patty credit for getting back up every time he was sent flying. To quote Ricey " that's what happens when you're 5'9". Nice to know I'm not the only one not buying the 6' listed in Blazer programs.........

Exactly why this team doesn't have anyone to defer to late in games. LA doesn't know how to react to doubles in crunch time, and the rest of the team is lost during this time.

You may want to look to the future, but you're forgetting what Roy did for this franchise. In my opinion we owe it to him to at least try and come back after he's taken measures to improve his health.

Let's talk future. Currently this team is built around a deep post threat (Oden), a dominant perimeter player (Roy) and shooters surrounding the two. However with both cornerstones gone what now? With the emergence of Aldridge you have that deep post threat once again, still have the shooters for the most part, but missing the dominant perimeter player. Is it that hard to wait a little and give Brandon a chance to come back? 2 things can happen, he wont be able to be back in form or he comes back as good or even better than before. Spend a dollar on candy or spend a dollar on a chance to win a million dollars?

We need a Granger, or an Aaron Brooks. Somebody outside that if you sag the middle, they make you pay.

Bertram : part of the reason they still look lost at times, is that they relied so much on Roy. Imo, LA can pass out of a double team now. I never base a decision off one game. LA is the beast I have been waiting for, and a far cry from that skinny kid from Texas 4 years ago.
I agree we owe it to Roy, and if anyone will overcome this, its Roy. His only real mistake was talking to Quick . He'll learn.
I still think fatigue, both mental and physical had a lot to do with the Knicks loss.  Thanks again Stern (big Blazer hater ) for the schedule.
Now, as far as Oden, SIGH , how do you build a franchise around a player you never actually had play a full season ?  What makes 5 the magic year?  When do the excuses stop at one center court ??
Your preaching to the choir on the buying candy or a lottery ticket with me. Mr Allen has bought the candy
( mini pgs ) every time over the ticket ( a back up center) , imo.
And after the Darius Miles drama, how does Mr Allen allow the team to sign huge contracts without having the players knees examined ?
Hopefully the training staff is at least making sure every player is taking an extra dose of vitamin d now.

Tobyus, I agree on Granger, but what is the difference in Mills and Brooks ?  Neither of them will help win against  Westbrook or Rondo , who  again, SIGH, the Blazers have to go through for rings.

From the KP firing on, this season has really tested the fan base, the hits keep rolling.

thats gotta be like the first time i have heard the team referred to as "the trail"
like usually "Blazers, the Blazers, Trailblazers" even works, but "the trail" hahah thats like what the rose garden should be renamed to.

Arniel-   yes, they DID over rely on Roy.
The rest of the team will play at 100% with Roy when this is all said and done. They will also be that much better because of it. The one not in long term plans, imo, is Rudy (even though he has flashes of brilliance, he made his bed this summer). Wes$ was brought here to replace him, but has done an amazing job in Roy's abscence. No team is ever better missing an offensive weapon.

Even if it's next season. Where have I heard next season before ??  Oh wait, the last 4 years....

Roy is not Oden, where injuries and heart are concerned. Some of the pressure put on Roy to carry the team in the 4th, was coaching backed by management.
Everything happens for a reason. I wish Roy a speedy recovery, but not to rush himself.
If anyone can do this, it's Roy. Things havent worked according to plan this season, but I still <3 my Blazers !!

you compare brandon roy to the blazers like Kobe plays for LA.
when you honestly know that its not.
however, what would you call the lakers?
Can you create a name for them with kobe 's in it, one as clever as this one?
