I jut saw this on NBATV's bottom line, so there is no link, but there was an article in the Portland Tribune that says he will be meeting with a leading orthopedic surgeon, so maybe that decision will materialize once the visit to the Doc is over.

Thanks for this heads-up! The Mercury article is the first I've read which talks about the transplant option and states that it's never been done for an active pro. Even if not cheerful news, it's good to know.

It's a relief to hear that Brandon is finally going to a specialist to figure out his options. I personally was wondering how long it was going to take them to do this (the right thing, imo). Hope it turns out ok because the best thing for Broy to do is have this done if it can be successfully done on an athlete who is currently competing. Cuz let's face it....we don't want to look at him sitting on the bench all year with nothing being done. Love Broy, but something has to be done.

Well, we know he's been seeing specialists --evidently this is a new one. As I understand it, the transplant is radical, pretty much requiring a donor who is deceased and a close size match, and is liable to be 6-12 months for rehab --with no guarantee he'll be able to play at the NBA level.

He needs to do whatever it takes to have functional knees: for him and his family. Any more than that would be a huge bonus.

The important thing is  for Brandon to be in the best playing shape he can possibly be, even if it means he might not be able to play the rest of this year.

Damn this is really sobering news..not that all the rest of the news has been gleeful. Here's to hoping for the best.

Fine with me.  Get this stuff out of the way and have him and Oden both strong for training camp.  Why hesitate if it can save his career?

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
