Okay, we need to clear something up. The officials didn't lose any of the games for the Blazers. There were some preventable mistakes that could have still won the games, however, if they would have been called correctly the Blazers blow-out Houston. You can tell me all you want that I am making excuses, but I admit Blazers still had chances to win in spite of the officials. The reality is, the league does have an investment here and Portland is not a big enough market. Expect to see a repeat of the Sacramento/Lakers series and expect to be disappointed in 5 years when it comes out that this series was crooked. The NBA keeps pretending to address the issue, but they never do. It has been talked about since they hired that general. It isn't going to fix the issue. Nobody is falling for the smoke screen. The only way to find anything out is for the government to get their hands on the officials themselves. This is a twisted mess and the players, all of them, are getting messed over by it. The losing teams because there's always that doubt, and the winners because all their wins will have an eternal asterisk by them once everything comes out of the wash. I beg David Stern to gain control of the league and restore it's integrity NOW before another Championship gets tainted. Sacramento got messed over, who knows how many more teams have been. It is a real problem and although we need to hold our teams accountable for their mistakes, we also need to hold the league accountable for theirs. They shouldn't get a "free pass" just because we ALSO could have done things different. Two wrongs don't make a right.

If you read my posts on the original site, you will see that I feel much the same. Stern controls who wins championships and he does it through the refs. He does it based on surveys of who the USA wants to see win, or who will be contriversial and bring out the fans.

Yes the way games are called in the NBA is a problem and it has been as long as I've been watching basketball. I don't believe the problem is market driven, I believe it is star driven. The truth is that in the early 80s the refs started calling the games based on who they were looking at instead of the spirit of the rules. Since then NBA refs have settled into bad habits and they are looking for the wrong things to make them blow their whistle. The league would do well to fire all their refs and start fresh with objective people who have spent at least six months in NBA school learning the rules and regulations. By the way, the Spurs are a smaller market than Portland and the Knicks have sucked for a long time.

DMan is right. Isn't it convenient that since David Stern has been commissioner that only large market teams have won the title (Chicago, Miami, San Antonio (7th largest city in the USA), LA, Houston, Detroit, Boston, am I missing one?). David Stern is a lawyer, he only cares about money. That's what almost all lawyers are about, so to think he's not involved would be almost laughable.

I implore everyone who "truly believes this is a problem" to send a letter to your senator. I sent a letter of the Senator Merkley after game 3, and I sent another one after game 4. The Senate needs to investigate this. It needs to be investigated by someone without a vested interest in the NBA. Look what happened before, the FBI had to come in and take an NBA official to prison. Yet David Stern said they had investigated it and nothing was shown, and said "it was just a rogue official." And isn't it convenient that the Donaghy situation just got swept under the rug? The Senate did a probe into MLB and released some of the biggest names as cheaters using steroids when people didn't believe they were cheating. I think the Senate needs to do a formal investigation into the NBA. It is very clear that things are being setup and it is almost impossible to believe that they would not find some sort of wrong doing.

Once again, I implore everyone to send a letter, an email, or some sort of correspondance to your state representative, your senator, your congressperson, or to whomever you know or think can help with this. We need to get this fixed. I'm sick of investing time and feelings into a sport that has become as shady and predetermined as the WWE. I stopped watching WWE when I was 8 because I realized how the outcomes were predetermined. That's how I currently feel with the NBA. The NBA will not look into this as it is benefiting them. The fans need to take a stand and do whatever they can, contact whomever they can, as often as they can, in order to get this investigated. We need to ban together fans. This is OUR league. It's because of US that this league is around and so popular. So it's up to us to police it apparently.

Please, I urge anyone and everyone who believes this is truly a problem, to take action. Contact your local and state representatives. The NBA and the National Government need to know that this league has become unacceptable and things need to be fixed.
I am a fan of this team. Here's to hoping for a healthy season!!!

when all that was going on about betting on basketball games, and they got those refs, it was hard for me to ever believe a bad call again, but there is something fishy going on. fouls were getting called on joel and greg for pretty much just breathing on yao. It was a bit frustrating. I'd love to believe that there is no shady business going on still, but something isn't right. While watching the game, i heard many people mutter the phrase, "this series is pretty much gift wrapped". But while i think the refs in general need to be held accountable for these calls, it wont matter when Portland wins the next 3 in a row right?
I am a fan of winning a championship and never hearing the words jailblazers or bowie again.

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.

Charlotte is the team that would take the 13 and 10 for their 4th.

Not sure Oladipo or Mclemore is worth two late lottery picks, even in a weak draft.   I would LOVE to grab one of them but there is plenty of talent left. 2> 1 I would...
