    Via ESPN-
One name you’re likely to hear on the trade market is that of Portland center Marcus Camby. In fact, last week a rumor surfaced about Camby and teammate Andre Miller going to Charlotte for D.J. Augustin and Gerald Wallace.

Camby wasn’t happy about the rumor and would not take kindly to being traded to Charlotte or any other non-contending team, according to a person close to him. The 36-year-old Camby would even consider retirement if he were traded to a mediocre or rebuilding team, the source said.

“If he was traded to Charlotte, he would think about retiring,’’ the source said. “He’s made plenty of money. He’d rather play, but he’s at the point in his career where he doesn’t want to get bounced around from team to team. If he’s traded, it would have to be to a contender.’’
While acquiring Camby is probably a long shot, Orlando is one team I’m told has an interest.

No surprise that Marcus wants to remain in Portland, since he had such a great run to end the season last year, the fan chat, etc, but I do wonder if we start to slide below .500 if he would be more receptive to playing for a contender. The article states that's all he really wants at this point in his career. Finally, I think it would have to be a 3-way deal if Orlando were to acquire Camby. Outside of Dwight Howard, I really don't like much of their team, esp not for a veteran like Marcus.

i think it's pretty unlikely we'll include Marcus in a trade, unless we were to get a strong center in return for our package. this season Marcus is the only center we have until Joel becomes truly 100 percent. rumors are one thing, but the facts of the matter are completely different.

as i've already stated on other threads, we don't recoup enough at the center position with the charlotte trade in order for us to part with any of our big men.

i agree wi kassandra but i have heard talk of moving aldridge to the center, he has been doing a nice job there. Then possibly trying in to the mix for another power forward

i agree with a three way trade.  Firstly, The magic dont have many ppl we want.  Secondly, Camby is getting old and with only 2 years on his contract, mmaybe trading him is a good idea

I don't think I see Camby getting traded, he has daughters that have just got enlisted into school, he is starting to settle down in Portland, and he just went through all this moving from the Clippers. I just don't see him at his age wanting to move to another city again and having to go through all this trouble again. Besides he likes it here!

There going to trade at least one of the players mentioned if not all three: Camby, Andre, and or Joel and one of the bench players too.  Cho and Allen are taking there time and are in no rush to take the first good offer.  Teams are just now starting to get hungry for picking off lesser teams players.   The players the Blazers get will need to be good public figures and mesh with the existing core of Blazers.   I hope that the players will be able to run the faster pace offence.  Portland is showing that it has the knack for speed.  Just look at what Rudy has been doing lately.  The best is yet to come and DHawes is correct it will be a 3 or 4 team trade that will land Portland the best young talent in return.  Exciting times ahead.

So, we have the ability to sign someone for Oden's absence and we still haven't done it.  It expires tomorrow.  Choey?  What are you doing?

Greg's injury exception doesn't add a roster spot; it just allows us to pay a little more for a player via trade, or for a free agent provided we waived a player. it's like this: let's say we were to sign a FA in the $1 million range. with the exception, we would be allowed to look for a player in the $4 salary range; theoretically, a better player. even with that, someone would have to be waived to clear up a roster spot.

Not DPOY. All American. Player of the year in his conference twice. Past four years, McCollum, Muscala, McCollum, Muscala.
