Do you do the rumored deal of Miller/Camby for Wallace/Diop/Augustine?
Yes-Time to rebuild on the fly (34)
     35%
    No-Wallace is too injury prone/Too much long-term salary (63)
     65%
    From Twitter-
Other theory: Hearing that Portland (AMiller, Camby) might be trading partner with Charlotte on this one, not Clippers.
This all started after A-Woj of Yahoo! Sports reported the Clippers and Bobcats could be swapping players:
Silas is a long way removed from the NBA – and longer from his late 1990s success in Charlotte. And if bringing back Silas isn’t retro enough for everyone, how about Silas’ old Hornets point guard, Baron Davis(notes)? Jordan is considering a trade proposal that would send Augustin, DeSagana Diop(notes) and Matt Carroll(notes) to the Los Angeles Clippers for Davis, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
But the Clipper beat writer (the Tweet first posted) is hearing other things, such as the Blazers and Bobcats talking swap. Who would you want from Charlotte if we were to send away Camby and Miller?

AOL Fanhouse is now reporting more specific players that could be apart of the deal-
League sources told FanHouse that the Bobcats and Portland have discussed a trade that would send beloved small forward Gerald Wallace to the Blazers with center DeSagana Diop and point guard D.J. Augustin in exchange for center Marcus Camby and point guard Andre Miller. And while the Blazers are exploring a litany of their own options and don't appear eager to do the deal as of now, the discussion that is one of many being had by the Bobcats reveals plenty about the sort of the on-court changes Jordan has in mind for his club.

Fair Deal in my opinion. We would get a young point guard in Augustine who could revitalize his career. Remember, we were linked to DJ prior to the 08 draft. And Wallace could play a lot of the 4 position and move LA to the 5.

DJ Augustine? Gerald Wallace, and Tyrus Thomas. I feel like there is a lot of mortgaging social values in that deal not to mention Gerald Wallace has had plenty of durability issues in his time as well. It just seems like a bad move. No doubt there is talent there, but the Jailblazers are to recently removed in my eyes.

NO! Not Camby-man and Miller-time! Let them retire here! They're both doing an amazing job and I would be very disappointed if we lost Camby and Miller for a chance a some younger players... BOGUS.

    First off, welcome back!
Secondly, I didn't see Thomas' name mentioned, but what have the other 2 done to ruin their reputations? I've honestly not heard a peep about their character in a negative light.

Wallace is still putting up 17 and 8, easily the best player in the deal, which is a plus to have heading over in any trade.

Diop is Marks 2.0. He's just in there for salary purposes and expires after next season, so he's not a long-term contract.

Our PG situation would take a hit, as Dre is > DJ but Dre is 35 and can't play forever. Portland needs to try and find a point guard for the future and why not take a shot on Augustin? He was a former lottery pick who played with Aldridge at Texas. Maybe we could change his career? Playing for Larry Brown isn't an easy task for a rookie point guard so it could be a nice buy low situation. I wonder if the Cats would be willing to throw in a future first?

Short-term, Cats get the better deal, but starting next year this could be a steal for the Blazers.

    Starting Lineup-
    DJ Augustin
    Wesley Matthews
    Nicolas Batum
    Gerald Wallace
    LaMarcus Aldridge

Our perimeter defense would be SICK!

I'm always sad when trades happen to be honst, unless we really get rid of someone we don't need (Bonzi Wells for example) and I really don't want to see Camby go after what he has done for us in Oden's absense, not to mention that sweet moment with the fans chanting his name. I know we have to see what is better for the team, but I can't but help say no on emotion right now, though I know getting a young guy in Augustin would be nice and I know Wallace is a beast down low.

I guess we just have to wait and see, but right now, I'd have to say no.

But then what do we do after next year when Camby is 38 and ready to retire? I know it's hard not to get emotionally attached, but the NBA is a business and we have to capitalize on our assets if we want to stay competitive.

i dont really see how this makes either team better.

sure the blazers would get an allstar and someone who plays hard every possession.
and the bobcats get a solution to their PG issues.
but we lose our pg solution. are we really looking to scrap this team? if so. how does bringing in wallace help in that? we'd just have to move him also.

but lets put this trade in perspective.
are the bobcats really going to trade away their franchise player for 2 players that are near the end of their career? i dont think so.
i dont really see the same value either in the trade for the bobcats.
trading gerald wallace he is an allstar. but we're not giving them anything in return for their lotto pick and wallace. sure dre and camby are nice players. but neither one of them are allstars/gotoguys.
we'd have to give them something like batum or rudy. a young piece. maybe AJ or patty.
the trade just doesnt make since.

    smoke i say smoke.

I understand ClydeFrog - I guess I don't mind letting go of the older guys as long as we get value in return. I was just reading what Ric Buchar said in an interview on 1080 AM from Blazersedge and I like the idea of Miller/Camby for Bass and Nelson, but again, I don't know about Bass, but it seems like Nelson would be nice to have and though the tension between Miller and Roy may have been downplayed after Roy's comments/apology, if it would help keep Roy here (though this same article said that he has lost some standing in the locker room) maybe I would be ok with that happening. Again, though, in terms of the basketball upside of those two guys, I'll leave it to you guys to inform me if that is a good deal or not.

I  am a huge camby fan but i think we have to set are favorites behind us and try to keep moving. Wallace was an All-Star last season? He would help on D and attack the rim. We get good potential at the PG, Heck it gives PATTY a chance at some real mins. If anything i would try to keep camby and dish joel and something to sweetin the deal.

i think the trade would encourage oden and prizbilla to both resign in the off season, i think if we keep camby we can't keep both guys, i think this idea would clear some room so we can sign both centers, secondly i think it gives us room to make a trade, with gerald there we have more room to throw around roy, rudy and battuum and try to get a pg such as steve nash or ellis and make the run this year and next year, the imagined starting team of next season    nash/ellis     mathews     wallace      aldridge     priz/ oden (health depending)    would be a solid lineup   and our bernch would be composed of 2 of thes (roy, rudy, battuum) mills, johnson oden priz (health permitting) cunningham, i think this would be solid

Nash sound's more reasonable than ellis. If anything the blazers should ship andre to PHX for nash in some type of deal.

I think we can make some moves to clear the mass build up of forwards. However Batum would most likely be dealt for a big,

I just worry about Nelson. He;ll be 29 in February and at 6-0, he's going to be a defensive liability. Imagine he and Roy in the same backcourt together? It may work offensively, but we'd get torched like the Warriors on defense. Also, is he a good player or just a product of playing with Dwight?

I don't think the Bobcats deal is THAT great, but I'd take it if it were a last resort. I just like the way LA has been playing as the center in a small lineup and Wallace is tough enough and a good enough rebounder to play the 4 for prolonged periods of time. Again..Wallace, Matthews, Batum on the perimeter? Lock down.

But I think as the deadline closes in, we'll see more and more of these types of rumors popping up with us sending out our attractive contracts.

To play devil's advocate for a moment-

I think everyone here is underselling D.J. Augustin big time.
Currently, he's averaging 13 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds per game. Also, he just turned 23 so it's not like he's maxed out in terms of potential.

IDK why Billa wouldn't start. He used to be the starter. Plus Cunningham will develop more and he is already a good rebounder, and Patty has had good success as of late. Diop is a 7 footer so we would still be big. Not to mention Augustine is averaging 12 ppg 3rpg 6apg decent numbers and hes young! Gerald Wallace is the only thing i question. Yes he has had A LOT of injuries but he is a good 20 points a night guy (even though he averages 16ppg) and he's a high flyer so the crowd will go nuts and our team thrives off the crowd. Good trade in my book. GO BLAZERS! 10 11 Champs

i like wallace but we already have enough guys at small forward and this deal would leave us with no good starting center and a worse point gaurd. Only way I would like the deal is If we could make it a 3 team deal somehow and where able to replace camby with someone as good at center and get rid of batum to make room for wallace.

Maybe we could work out a deal with the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan. He's a pretty solid center and if we trade Batum, Wallace would have room and the Clippers would pobly give us more if Batum go their so if we did it right we might be able to get Eric Gordon as well probably add in Rudy  and AJ. Would be a pretty good line up.

    Patty/D.J Audustine
    B Roy/Wes Matthews/ Eric Gordon
    Gerald Wallace/Wes Matthews/Eric Gordon

Personally, I don't believe that we, as a fan base, will be aware of any transactions under Cho until after they go down.  All this stuff is smokescreen IMO.  Cho plays things close to the vest, which is very smart.  I just don't see Cho breaking form, particularly with regard to his first deal as Blazer GM...the one he will forever be remembered for making.  The future of this team, this franchise, is in very capable hands.  Rest easy.

The days of building around BRANDON are (or should be) in the rear view.  Bringing in a PG with a skill set that better compliments that of employee #7 is ludicrous now.  Harsh?  Maybe.  Accurate?  Absolutely.

If this rumor were to be more than a rumor?  In agreement with most who have already posted.  Don't like it.

Exactly Casey. Aside from that, one has to consider how bringing in a guy like Gerald Wallace affects LMA's newfound confidence and game. I dont' think LMA is going back in the box though, so if that's the case, how do those two fit together??

Miller and Camby are getting old, but seriously, they are high-level, talented players whose numbers are far higher than the guys that take their place (Wallace aside, who may not be as effective here with LMA). I don't think this is the right trade, and would rather let Pryzbilla go then Camby at any rate. He made a huge committment to us when he accepted his deal, and Portland should respect that.

My gut is telling me smoke screen .. and that's what i believe.

But if it DOES go down, I wouldn't be too upset (i am a big dre fan, but i have to come to grips with reality).

i think that blazer fans would fall in love with Gerald Wallace, the same way they've fallen for Wesley Matthews. He's THAT type of player. The kind this organization needs. BTW, Wallace's health issues worry me tremendously; but when healthy i like him very much for this team.

It has been a funky season. And if/when a trade goes down it's going to get even funkier. Crazy as it sounds, I think that Portland could sneak into the playoffs if this trade happens, but their downfall would be in not having a true center and a top of the line PG.

And whatever happens, i think next year will be fantastic.

dont know much about these guys but if wallace is injury prone not sure we got enough room at the blazer hospital since ours seems to be full enough without having to add one more. Besides our small forward position seems to be the one position we are pretty good at. On a final note anything that would help Michael Jordan out and make his team get any better I am totally dead set against.

Not sure if I like the trade just because we would be giving up camby and wouldnt be getting a quality big back for him, but Wallace would make this team excellent on defense.  Batum, Matthews and Wallace are three of the best perimeter defenders we have in the nba and Wallace can also defend the post, block shots and rebound.  So I still dont think I would take this deal if I were the Blazers but I wont be too dissapointed if it happens either.

Youth for Age, is the trade.....
Augustine, man, like is he not the exact same as Bayless? hahaha. Thats cold. but whats worse, is i like augustine more than bayless hahah.
Gerald Wallace, dope player, last season averaged double dub, maybe wont get that with LA, but for sure will do work.
Desanga is to help with our height, he is a solid guy, like literally, a big guy.

And all we have to do iis trade Camby ,35, a dude who damn near fell apart at the start of this year, a guy who may have only a couple years left in the tank.
Miller, 34, who has just about lost it, hes more focused on personal pride than this team winning.
