Marcus Camby - All Star?

    Was looking at NBA.com.

    Here is the leaders in fan voting for the CENTER position for the ASG


    Centers: Yao Ming (Hou) 430,984; Andrew Bynum (LAL) 198,044; Brendan Haywood (Dal) 127,375; Marc Gasol (Mem) 120,811; Emeka Okafor (NOH) 115,647; Nene (Den) 105,747; Chris Kaman (LAC) 87,536; Marcus Camby (Por) 57,046; DeMarcus Cousins (Sac) 37,571; Andris Biedrins (GS) 36,655. 

    Obviously, fans are idiots that think a man that's missing the season (officially stated today) and an injury prone center deserve to be in the ASG before players that work their butt off every night.

    Anyways, looking at this list, I notice a lot of players that had hot starts, like Emeka Okafor, but have been quiet.  Marc Gasol is playing well, but other than maybe him, I think Camby is better than ALL these Centers listed.

    Sadly, Bynum will probably get to start because fans are so stupid, but whatever...  However, coaches get to choose the bench, and they might just select Camby.

    However the NBA might be lame and put Duncan or Gasol at the starting position over Camby.

    But Camby's got some chances here.  The man's been playing very well, and is explosive on the defensive end.

    If you're curious, Dre, Roy, and LMA aren't on the list for top votes in their position.  Portlanders aren't voting!  Although I don't either since it's a waste of time since we can't beat LA's market.

    The NBA should do something about the players who haven't even played a game. Like Bynum. He just played his first game of the season this week and he's 2nd while Yao has been injured consistently again. They are definitely not All Stars this year... of course the fans will vote them in.  Also Roy was never at the top of the list but the coaches have voted him in every time, but don't think that's going to happen this year.

    But Dre is just unlucky. We have CP3, D Williams, Tony Parker, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd... man so many good pg's out here! Maybe his suspension will get him noticed! I doubt it, but there is slim hope for Camby to get voted in by the coaches.

    I would venture to guess that the vast majority of votes Yao has received are from overseas.  Very interesting how financially dependent the league has become with regard to international currency.  Not unlike our economy in general.

    Popularity contest.  Always has been and always will be.  If I were a player, it would mean far more to me to be voted in by the coaches anyway.  No greater sign of respect than that.  

    IMO, Camby's play thus far has merited consideration for sure.  He has been a soldier.

    Also, both Camby and Dre should have at least been an all star once already. It's unbelievable that a defensive player of the year has never been on the All Star team as well as someone who led the entire league for one year in assists!!

    Isn't Dre like the 6th current Assist leader for current players?

    I think only Kidd, Nash, Fisher, and some other old farts are ahead of him.

    I don't know, but he's got to be way ahead of Fisher.

    I think someone already touched on it, but there is no possible way Andre makes the all star team in the West.  With Chris Paul, Nash, Williams, Westbrook, Kidd, and Billups... there are just too many guys for the spots. Oh, and Tony Parker.  That's 8 potential candidates with only one starting pg spot, and maybe two backup spots available.  As for Camby, with Gasol, the other Gasol, Chandler, etc... it's also very difficult, but Marcus has a much better shot than 'Dre at making the all star team this year, because, like I said, there are just so many point guards out there

    Yeah that was me ha ha, and I totally forgot about Westbrook. But Billups hasn't been playing better than Dre this year, but like I said, there's so many good pg's in the West. Hell Deron Williams was a first time All Star last year! And he's easily in the top 3 in the league.

    We may not have a winning record, but Camby has been the BEST, healthy center so far in the West. He should be starting without a doubt! Don't forget to vote: http://www.nba.com

    But we all know he will never be a starting All Star with the fans voting, otherwise it should have already happened. Seriously, how does the defensive player of the year not make an All Star team?
