While watching the game on ESPN, it was almost comical hearing them analyze the game. No, no, they weren't bad commentators or homering the Mavericks. It was how blatantly obvious everything was to them. We as fans have been calling for a faster tempo, more ball movement, attacking of the basket, and some have even suggested resting Brandon. In one 2.5 hour broadcast, each one of those three commentators pointed out all of those points and on multiple occasions. Sure, their job is to be knowledgeable on all the teams, but we're not on national television much nor in the media on a daily basis, yet it was as clear as day to them what was wrong with our team.

My question is, if three outsiders can see what we fans can see, then why can't the coaching staff?  I don't think it's as black and white as the coach or the players being the problem, as I think it takes two to tango, but we've had these same problems for the past 4 years. Even Charles Barkley called us out on it back in 07. He said we take too many jump shots (true) and don't get enough easy buckets (again true). Yes, I heard Nate in the huddle when he was mic'd up and he told them to attack, attack, attack....and we did on the next play, but where is the consistency?

All I know is that something has to change, and soon. I already know we aren't winning any titles or playoff rounds (if we get there) this year,so I want to be at least entertained while watching hoops. It was fun tonight seeing Patty running wild, Batum finishing on the break, and for once taking advantage of LA's speed. Bottom line is that in a season where expectations need to be thrown out the window, why not let the young guys put on a show for us?

Eh, my expectations stay the same.  Thing is,  we've got a team that's better than 90% of the league.  The problem with this team has been lack of energy.  I don't know if it's Roy's frustration (injury is the last of my concern with Roy.  The man looks frustrated),  Pendergraph not being there to give his wild speech, or just that Nate isn't the right coach (even though I know for fact he's not).

This team, at full strength, is a championship contender, Oden included, Roy's injury included.  When they're out giving 100%, they can win a championship.  But the thing is, I see 65% from the Blazers.  65% isn't good enough.

We need a new coach, because Nate obviously has no idea what he's doing.  We need to build around Wesley.  We need to keep Oden healthy.  We need to get something productive out of Rich Cho (How about trading Rudy please?).  We need PA to put his money in and just buy a championship if must be.

Teams got a lot of growing up to do honestly.  Confidence, moral, and energy are at an all time low it seems.

I don't believe Nate is the problem.  Nate is a good coach who has been dealt an extremely bad hand.  I, however, don't believe he is the right fit here and have stated as much on numberous occassions.  I was disappointed in the hiring of Itchy CrackerJack, and am still not sure he is contributing ANYTHING.  I thought Nate would have been wiser to bring in an offensive mind to go along with, and compliment, his defensive prowess.  Bernie's hiring was a sign for me.

Roy is NOT injured.  He is crippled.  Injuries heal and get better with treatment and time.  His condition will never improve.  BRoy's frustrations stem from the competitor in him that is slowly coming to terms with this.  Brandon Roy will always be the player he was two years ago with me because of the character, leadership, and spirit of the man.  That said, and with the acknowledgement that he is alot closer to having to retire than any of us realize, it's time to look to the future.  This team was built around a player that is not here any more.  It is, as Quick has put it, the end of an era.  I'm not one to agree with that which is force fed to me through the various media outlets, but...with this, I do agree.  It's time to move on and be realistic.  WHAT WE HAVE IS NOT WHAT WE HAD, and won't be again.

Look at our Blazers like a bicycle.  Brandon was the chain.  Most, if not ALL of the other players around him are here to compliment.  A nice sturdy frame.  Big off-road tires.  Great shock absorbing handle bars.  HIgh quality brakes....Where do all of those nice pieces get you if you can't keep the CHAIN on?

@Herr...Unfortunately, and with all due respect, I believe this Blazer team is closer to the 10% you didn't mention.

My take, of course, Nate is stubborn, and treats Brandon differently. If any  player not wearing #7 was playing this way, he would be benched.  But what can we do ?

First off I agree that Nate is not the right coach for this team. He doesn't seem to know what he's doing half the time...he's very good at staring off into space while he plays ridiculous lineups. He is a defensive coach, and that is it. We need an offensive minded coach who knows how to win. Secondly I agree that the players aren't giving anywhere near 100%. If they truly wanted to win they could. But, it seems they are content at accepting the injured riddled, mediocre persona that has been given them by the media and other teams. Thirdly, Cho  needs to earn his paycheck. If he can help to turn OKC into a contender, then he damn sure help to turn us into one. Looks like Prichard gets the last laugh. If I were Paul Allen I would not be a happy man, and I would be front and center and everyone's face about it...I'd tell the Cho to get his feet off his desk, Nate to either expand his coaching techniques to include offense or to pack his shit and get. And I would certainly have something to say to my ungreatful overpaid players.

The problem isn't coaching. You hear Nate saying attack. It's our player personnel. They are content in just taking jump shots.

You hear Nate saying "green" when he wants players to go 1 on 1. The problem is all the players stop and look around for a "screen".

I agree. I think Nate is a part of the problem. We are known for our slow deveolping play style by everyone! That doesn't happen with the coach telling everyone to run and attack. Nate may say that every once in awhile, but the truth is that isn't what he teaches and its not how he wants our team to play, so they don't. I think we need to be running. We got some young guys that love to do it, wesley, patty, rudy, batum, aldrige. We need to use them and just flat outrun people especially since no one besides wesley, sometimes aldrige has a consitent jump shot.

It is their job to analyze and dictate these games, and these guys im sure have had league pass since they began working for the NBA, they know more about the blazers than you think.
It is also not difficult to see that a team of this caliber has problems, but Nate is the coach, you go on his word, only if HE sees a problem, these guys may have been saying smart stuff, but they could be talking out of the @$$.

This team has big problems and you are totally right, there is no consistency.
