    From ESPN (Stein) :http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5907147

The Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat have been granted disabled player exceptions forGreg Oden and Udonis Haslem, sources familiar with the league's ruling told ESPN.com.

Both Oden (knee) and Haslem (foot), after being examined by an independent league-appointed physician, have been deemed to be carrying injuries that will likely sideline them for the remainder of the season.

Portland and Miami, as a result, have received exceptions valued at half of each player's salary.

In the Blazers' case, that amounts to $3,380,262 from Oden's $6,760,524 salary and expires Dec. 30.

Miami's exception is valued at $1.75 million, half of Haslem's $3,500,000 salary, and expires Jan. 6.

League rules allow for such exceptions to be used to acquire only one player, but teams can use them to sign a free agent or to take on salary in trade before the expiration date.

The 45-day clock for using such exceptions starts when the team reasonably knows that the player's injury could potentially be season-ending.

But if Oden or Haslem unexpectedly recovered faster than doctors have forecasted, they are not precluded from rejoining their respective teams.

A returning injured player can be reactivated without affecting his replacement, as Miami found out in the 2000-01 season when Alonzo Mourning returned after missing five months and the Heat had been granted an injury exception for what was presumed to be a season-ending kidney injury.

When used in trades, teams may acquire a player whose salary -- including any trade kickers -- does not exceed the value of the exception plus $100,000.

(Oops, Heat get exception for Haslem, but I think you know what I meant - we SO need editing for posts, for when we do things in a hurry, etc)

That sounds like good news. I hope Rich Cho can find some talent out there to help our team. It was tough for me to watch Brandon dragging his leg around last night. Does anybody know why Brandon is not wearing the number 20 patch like the rest of the team? I've asked around and as yet I haven't been able to get an answer. Go Blazers!

If we cant make a deal before the trade deadline im gonna be pissed.  We are in the perfect position right now to pull off a blockbuster deal and get a superstar or at least a solid big man.  We now have over 20 million in expiring contracts, 4 million in trade exception, a lot of young players that we dont need but that other teams might want for the future and a lot of picks in the upcoming draft.
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

Yep, just got the official word via e-mail:
The NBA has granted the Portland Trail Blazers a disabled player exception. The exception can be used to sign a player or acquire a player via trade. Portland has until December 30th to use the exception.

Maybe D How will consider joining the ranks of the Trailblazers after the spanking his team got last night :D
Okay probably not, but I'm not really sure of who can be considered on the trading block at this point in time.
I am a fan of how amazingly fun this team is to watch when everything just clicks.

Your list of "I'm a fan of" players baffles me....Kobe? I mean, we all know he's an amazing player but he is the biggest ego-driven whiner (and other choice words I'll omit) I've ever seen!  I'm with you on EVERYTHING else, but Kobe, man, I hate that guy....

No. LeBron is the biggest ego-driven whiner. Kobe just has a big ego...and really who could blame him. Brandon has an ego too, and that's why in the beginning he and Dre clashed a little bit on the court. His ego is showing now go read his interview.

hahahah, thats like the pot calling the kettle black, Dre gets pushed a couple of times, by arguably the best rookie in the league, so he goes off an Bonzai Charges right into him?

hhahah, that may not be actual whining, but its a heck of alot worse.
Next time a opposing player is causing trouble for Portland, They will have to sit dre out otherwise its finna happen again.
like what does he do at home when something doenst go his way?

If I got pushed multiple times in the back on purpose, I'd come right back and lay you a good one too. You don't let people just push you around like...literally and figuratively. No whining there, just eye for an eye. So I guess the pots calling the kettle white there. But yeah, if something like that happens again bet he's finna do it again and I wouldn't mind.

hahaha, no offense, but that may be why you dont play in the NBA. Andre cant act like a child, i dont care if he is on the moon, he represents this team, and to the rest of the nation, this team looks like a desperate animal being eaten by another. Being dragged away, clawing and biting and yelling doing anything they can to prevent the inevitable.

I dont see Bron , whining, nor playing like a trick, i see a guy who made a decison completley by and for himself and the rest of the world thought they could tell a man what is okay and what is not okay to do, and they cant.
my man LeBron has been getting #%$# ever since the 10th grade, and similar to certainty of the sun rising in the morning and setting at dusk, my man has overcome every ounce of hate and hype thrown at him.
The day he ceases to impress, and live about what everyone throws at him, thats the day you can talk bad about him, but untill then, you can just feel the calming sensation of him slappin you and the rest of the haters round the world in the face with this.

"while the haters give me PROMO!"

Manrc Stein is reporting that former Blazer Antonio Daniels could be an option:
Downer part for oldest player in D-League history: Word is Blazers were giving strong consideration to making Daniels season's first callup
I don't think Antonio Daniels, personally, is the one to get us over the hump.

Hawes are you kidding me? You don't think he's the missing piece!?! WOW!!! I'm joking haha. Can't this exception be used in a trade? Because adding Daniels doesn't seem like it would help this team one bit, and is really pointless since he wouldn't be playing much.  Lets be honest, if it was late in the game and it was a blowout, wouldn't we rather see Armon out there getting experience than putting Daniels in? Yes.  So this potential move doesn't make sense to me, although yes, Daniels was very serviceable in his day.  Just want to see how this would make us a better team in the end
