    Via ESPN LA-
For Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest, July 1 marks the day he will announce just how much of his 2011-12 salary he will donate to charities to benefit mental health awareness.

It takes a dedicated 0.1 percentile-type of person to consider giving away a large percentage of the $6.79 million he is contracted to make next season.

"Either all or some," Artest said about his donation plans prior to the Lakers' game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. "You'll know July 1."

While he's garnering attention for his mental health awareness mission now, Artest said his involvement started years ago when he played for the Sacramento Kings and he organized free group counseling sessions for children and posted the videos on YouTube for other youth to benefit from.

"Anybody going through problems, they could identify their problems with any individual kid and be like, 'Wow, I'm going through what he's going through,'" Artest said. "When you're weak mentally, there's nothing a kid can do when he's not strong yet or she's not strong yet."

From auctioning off his championship ring for charity to now donating his salary in a potential lockout year? That's a class person. He may very well be crazy, but at heart, his intentions are awesome. I still extremely dislike the Lakers, but Ron-Ron is one I'll pull for.

Totally agree. Ever since he turned his image around he is a guy I can root for.  He is classy, yet kinda out there, with good overall intentions

Couldn't agree more, especially with a lockout looming over players' heads and most of those players focusing on keeping their own finances at bay, it makes this move just even more amazing. Definitely a great, selfless act. Way to go Ron Ron!!

I cant stand him, for every good aspect, there is a foolish one.
He has the worst desicion making process any human could ever have. he is two faced. he wants the people to remember him for what he is doing, instead of all the dumb things he has done.
not to mention he said he wanted griffin to dunk on him, just to see how it feels.
Yeah right, so you can make up an excuse to flip out again, its been a while right.... its nice, but you cant erase the past.

I like Artest, he is a man, he is not perfect and he doesn't try to hide it.

Much respect for Artest, but I don't like a player that totally abandons a team that has championship chances to play on the Lakers.  He did what LeBron did to Cleveland basically.  People say Yao is the key?  No way, it was Ron Artest.

Yeah well first impressions are the ones that last, and that fool has had WAYYY too many "1st" impressions.........
He is a punk, bottom line, like, he is just looking for an excuse to get into trouble.
Its like saying, "oh yeah, J.R. Smith, man he is great with kids, id let him babysit anytime."

Until I see things done, he's still an A-hole in my opinion.  He still hasn't sold his ring yet...  Might be hard to give away things you earned for Kobe

dude thats right, he said he wanted someone else to enjoy the championship ring, like he wanted to share that greatness, yet he is selling it?
Why dont you just give it away? its because he wants a lil something sumthing, and to top that off, what will the team think about that when he does, he sells the ring he won with them, i find that disrespectful

Pat Riley said this: You get rebounds, you win rings!!! More often than not, the team who wins the battle on the boards will win the game. Rebounds on both ends are extremely important.

I think the reason Lillard says he likes McCollum is because their games are so similar. How can you not like CJ McCollums game. For real Im on the trade LA for the Wizards #3 pick bandwagon, then draft Noel, or trade it, or maybe get DeAndre Jord...

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.

You trolling Cmeese? I mean I hate how biased it is. If a woman slaps a man, people will probably be like what did that b*stard do, probably cheated on her, that pig. But if a man slaps a woman, even if it is completely justified, OMG abuse, 2013 ...
