    After being assigned to the NBDL's Idaho Stampede, it should come as no shock to anyone who knows of Luke Babbitt how he would respond to the challenge. We've all heard of cases where players pout after being sent down a level or think they are above the DLeague, but not Luke.

    In the Stampede's 83-80 victory over the Dakota Wizards, off the bench, Luke Babbitt scored a game-high 18 points, on 6-14 shooting, 1-3 from downtown, and found time to pull down 6 rebounds in only 21 minutes of action.

    People may downplay the D-League much as they do Summer League, but regardless, it never hurts to dominate a certain level of competition. How down would fans have been on Patty Mills had he struggled last year for Idaho? Bottom line, playing strong never hurts and always helps.

    thats good for babbit, i wish him luck to put up some numbers, i think for the blazers he really needed to come out and be that pure shooter everyone talks about, but sadly he never came in and had that shooting. he came in to releave time and he has been given shots i know he ht a shot but not enough to where i say give him the ball....

    I think this is great for Babbit as well, get him some playing time on the court, which is what he needs. He is a great little player and we will be excited to see him back in Portland upon his return.

    Ya its wonderful that Webster was traded for him just to send him to the d-league.

    Babbitt has been killing it over in the NBDL.

    From Oregon Live-
     Babbitt, a 6-foot-9 rookie forward, had 16 points and five rebounds Friday to help the Stampede to a 118-94 home victory over the Utah Flash. Babbitt shot 6 for 10 from the field, including 1 for 1 from three-point range, and 3 for 3 at the free throw line.
     On Saturday, Babbitt had a team-high 23 points and nine rebounds as the Stampede again played Utah, this time losing 99-92. Babbitt shot 7 for 20 from the field, including 2 for 5 from three-point range, and was 7 for 7 at the free throw line.
    Hopefully this can transfer over into the NBA game, but at least he's producing very nicely in the DLeague. I think I'd be a lot more worried if he wasn't tearing up the NBDL. I think that when he gets promoted back to the Blazers, the best thing for him would be to get 5-10 minutes guaranteed  per game. That keeps his game in rhythm and allows him to get acclimated with the talent level of the NBA and boost his confidence.

    Well, in my opinion I am glad he is getting the workout and competing! Maybe him and Armon will switch places soon??? One never knows, but I think Luke has more to offer the Blazers then Armon right now so I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen soon.

    Wow,
    a first round pick in the Dleague scoring 18 points - off the bench,
    I could never have predicted that!

    Man, I love this Team, it's the only thing that keeps me a blazer fan.
    It's like when your a proud father of a less than gifted athletic child,
    you know it isn't going to go well,
    but you still show up and hope the child you love does well.

    Here's a good article on how the NBDL helps turned Luke's game around from AOL Fan House-
     "With Luke, he's a good team guy, he just wanted to fit in. At times, [Babbitt thought], 'Well I need to lay down for the vets. I need to just work the ball, I need to not go get my own shot, I need to just fit in. Be a part of the system and not break any of the plays or anything like that,'" Portland's assistant director of scouting Joe Cronin told Blazersedge's Ben Golliver when describing what the Blazers first round pick needed to improve upon during his time in the D-League. "I think he's learning at our level that this is what you do. We need you to go get your offense. We need you to be assertive and look for your shots."
