    Yeah, I know this is a Blazer forum but I posted this on NBA.com and got biased answers by stupid mad Laker fans.  What's your take?  Keep in mind I am a Heat fan (not as much as I am a Blazer fan, but I do like LeBron and the Heat) much more than I am a Laker fan (I always love when the Lakers lose), so I apologize if it sounds biased and there may be Grey areas.

    Anyways...

    There has been talk about how embarrassing the Heat have been.  Really, we all expected more, and I think that's what gives us the most the laugh about.  Most of the time when the Lakers started losing, their fans would say "at least we're not the Heat's record".  However, when you put the records aside, I believe the Lakers are the ones underperforming.

    Before I say why, let me mention that BOTH teams have similar expectations.  Anything but a championship for these teams is falling short and a disappointment.  The Heat (LeBron) promised one (well, actually about 9, but you can only get one a year).  The Lakers however are looking for a three peat, and anytime you are the defending champions, losing the next year is anything but falling short.  Therefore, the Heat not having the record they want, and a rare 4 game losing streak (especially with all the trash talking) for the Lakers is not what they want.

    Now let's look at the Heat's games played so far, who are 11-8.

    vsIndiana - L
    @Orlando - L
    vsPhilly - W
    @Dallas - L
    vsWashington - W

    The Teams that the Heat have lost to...

    Boston x 2 - 28-8
    New Orleans - 13-5
    Utah - 15-5
    Memphis - 8-11
    Indiana - 9-8
    Orlando - 14-4
    Dallas - 14-4

    For a combined record of 91 - 45

    Now let's look at the Lakers games played.

    vsHouston - W
    @Phoenix - W
    vsGolden State - W
    vsMemphis - W
    @Sacromento - W
    vsToronto  - W

    vsGolden State - W
    vsChicago - W
    @Utah - L
    vsIndiana - L
    @Memphis - L
    @Houston - L

    The Teams the Lakers have lost to...

    Denver - 11-6
    Phoenix - 8 - 9
    Utah - 15 - 5
    Indiana - 9-8
    Memphis - 8 - 11
    Houston - 6 - 12

    For a combined record of 57 - 51

    Obviously, the Heat have had more competition.  Also, the teams that have beat the Heat have also beat the Lakers or haven't played them in Indiana, Utah, and Memphis.  Indiana and Memphis add a lot of losses to both combined records, while Utah gives 15 wins and 5 loses to both teams combined records.

    The Heat (11-8) are 9-4 in their confrence, 3-1 in their division, 9-3 at home, 2-5 road
    The Lakers (13-6) are 9-5 in their confrence, 4-1 in their Division, 8-2 at home, 5-4 road

    The road looks lopsided, with the Heat 2-5 and the Lakers 5-4, but let's look at the road warriors...

    Heat lost to NOH, Orlando, Boston, Memphis and Dallas.  Each of those teams, except Memphis are in the top 5 of their confrence at least.  When you take away the Hornets, that's Top 1 in the East, top 2 in the East, and top 2 in the West.

    The Lakers road loses have been against Utah, Memphis, Denver, and Houston.

    When you take away Memphis, like we did with the Heat, the highest seeded team is Utah, who is now seeded 3, but was seeded 4 before the Lakers lost tonight.  However, the other teams are 7th seed and 12th seed in Denver and Houston.

    Obviously, the Heat have had the much harder schedule, going against the top teams in the league, while the Lakers have had a very easy schedule, losing to some of the worse teams in the league.  The best team they've beat have been the Chicago Bulls, who are 9-7 and 4th seed in the East.  The best team the Heat has beat was the Orlando Magic, who are 14-4 and 2nd seed in the East.

    Honestly, I'm thinking the Heat have been better than the Lakers so far this season, even with less wins and more losses.

    The Heat so far this season,
    are outperfoming the Lakers 1-0,
    in smashing into the head coach during timeouts.

    No Heat are not outperforming the Lakers. They are underperforming themselves. You mean to tell me a team with LeBron and Wade lose 18 at home to a crap Indiana team and are outperforming a Laker team which has their superstar coming off a knee surgery this summer and no real center? If anything Heat are playing just the same as the Lakers, they both seem to have trouble against established playoff contenders.

    hahaha, your right mostly on this, except everyone only mentions wade and Bron, when its Bosh who is the best player on that team right now.
    Bosh is saving that teams butt, man. The Heat are going to take a while to get working, people who though that they would come out firing were wrong.
    They never had a great preseason, Wade was out, and the pre season is the best time to figure out what works and what doesnt, so they are still going through that kind of "trail and error" and it is prevalent in James and Dwayne, Bosh is efficient as hell down there, james had what, 20 turnovers in his first two games?
    Wade is still messin around getting hurt, while bosh is hitting 7-8 jumpers in the first quarter and had like 26 points by half.

    This team will come around, and Tonight is going to be a deciding factor as well, playing back in Cleveland, it could tell alot about them.
    However the Lakers have been straight "coasting" all season, they were riding that Phil Jay Train for a while, and then they forgot, not every team is just going to let them win.
    They have suffered some tough losses, to some pretty, somewhat, easy teams, for them that is. However Kobe's off to a good start, and Gasol is playing like he should, just like he should of got that MvP trophy last year, not kobe, i think he is going to make sure it is in his hands this year.
    He is playing outstanding, and Odom as well, they are stepping up. Artest getting some nice D in sometimes, i think that both teams are "Waking Up!"
    Similarly to what THIS team needs to do, they are finally getting on their own "track" for the rest of the season.
    Lets just hope they play it right and meet in the Final.
    Dying to see Bron v Kobe Final!
    Buying that on DvD for sure!

    The rules limit the effectiveness of defenders these days Blaser. Lebron would win defensive player of the year every year if he could hand check people and hold on to his man like the old days.

    Wow some serious high hopes for JJ there.

    @Cailin Isn''t a little ironic that the Heat are on pace to win a second straight NBA title despite being the worst rebounding team statistically in the NBA this season.

    I would trade the pick, the team is in rebuild mode and I am not sure Burke is the guy I really want on my team. Since my team needs a PG a PF and maybe a SG depending on how they feel about Afflalo still.

    Want to talk about trade LA possibilities then maybe it is time to reexamine the Cavs as an option for LA. Can get pick #1 and some pieces or work out a three way trade with the Bucks and Cavs. If we could end up with Thompson, Gee and Sanders for...

    Considering that is the only aggressive thing he has ever done in his life, it is not likely he will do anything. Maybe if he did I might respect him more. But its alright enjoy your higher ticket prices to pay this joker 11 million a year.

    Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.
