If Brandon is not able to help this team win games, why is he playing?  Clearly this team is not heading in a direction necessary for a playoff berth.  That being the case, why is Roy not only playing...but starting?  Brandon is playing "injured"...not "hurt" - "injured".  Why not sit Brandon and start Wesley WITH Nic, giving Rudy the back-up role he had in Roy's absence, the role he seemed to thrive in?  Instead, we are pushing Roy into his custom fitted Rascal 40 years early, and squashing the confidence of both Nic and Rudy.  Why?  So we can lose by less?

Additionally, assets don't appreciate on the bench.  Development doesn't occur on the bench.  I am failing to understand why this hasn't already happened.  Brandon has given this organization so much.  Maybe it's time to give back to Brandon now.

    Your thoughts?

I believe we are just in a slump. We are not the only team. Every team goes through these stretches. It's crazy to say not to start your key player. Roy is playing very well until the 4th quarter, when the entire team, not just roy, looks out of synch. We will turn this around and in a month we will have forgoten this 4 game lose streak.

The whole team is in a slump in the 4th quarter. They will get over it eventually, hopefully soon. But, Roy played well the first three quarters and he looked tired and hurt in the fourth. He needs even less minutes than he is getting, and coming off the bench might be a good way to lessen his minutes.

Also, Roy should not play tonight in Boston because he started to look hurt at the end of last game. I don't think Roy will play many games in the second of back to backs

I'm in complete agreement.  We play better rhythm basketball without him in the starting lineup.  When you have Nic and Wes out there starting the game, they set the tone with their hustle play.  Roy understands the game, and I'm sure if he watches the first 7 minutes of the game, he will know what he the Blazers need him to do when he goes into the game.  Imagine Roy matching up against other teams second lineups.  Plus, like you were saying, you will keep his minutes down, and I believe that the players that are still developing will be more aggressive with out deferring the ball to Roy.

Oh BDawg,  Roy needs the ball more... oh wait, he's injured, bone on bone, the sky is falling ! That knee is worse because he played to soon in the playoffs last season,( I remember that injury  as a hamstring, not a knee, but I could be wrong there. )

All the Blazers needed was to start WM instead of Nic. Oh wait, that didnt work either..... ( benching Nic isnt going to help him or the team learn offense that doesnt revolve around Roy or LA.)

Confused ? ..... so is the team and its obvious. Basketball is a team sport. Not a 2 man game.

LA and Marcus are TIRED , tired legs = weaker D and lower shot percentage, as obvious the 4th quarter of the last 2 games. Dante is a trooper, but playing undersized.  LA and Marcus are having all star seasons, but they need some rest too.
The Blazers need another big man PERIOD. But hey, we get to watch Patty cakes, that makes it all better right ?
Time to close the open wound, and quit covering it up with a band aide.  We've got the Celtics tonight !!
Joel wil help, but what keeps us from the same situation if something happens to Joel or Marcus in the future?
Appologies to anyone offended by sarcasism, but at this point, using the same plan and expecting a different outcome is NOT working ......

My 2 cents, trade Rudy and the draft pick for a center. Its obvious that Mr Allen will always keep pattycakes, even if he never helps the Blazers win a single game. WM was brought here to replace Rudy, not Nic, but Rudy can shoot 3's so fans forget, he has value in the league again, use it please Mr Cho ........

Does Roy need to sit? Maybe. Mostly, everyone on this board just needs to calm down, and not pull out nuclear weapons every time we lose a game. Are we having problems? For sure. Let's all just chill a little bit.

Well said Ike Graul the team has been going through changes and injuries so we haven't been able to find out what REALLY works. We just need time to develop a good starting line and bench line to be a good combination going into games. Also with the return of Joel, that will hopefully hype up the team!

Thoughts about moving Roy to PG? Give him limited minutes heal his leg. Let him direct traffic while being an outside threat. Meanwhile you start Wes as SG Nic at SF. The only ego hurt at this time would be Andre's but he will still get his minutes. Anyway just a thought

I think we should sit him until the Allstar break, see how we play without him. It's not just his scoring that we need, but a total effort and he looks slow out there. He looks like he is just going through the motions. That allows him to get 18 to 20 points a night (this is a testimony to his skills) but we need more from him on defense/ rebounding/energy/intensity/leadership/scrap - he is hurt and everyone can see it.

I agree we owe it to him to let him rest a bit - make him rest since he is a 85 million investment we have to keep for 4 more yrs. It is dumb to run him like this. It's bad as an organization to grind down a person like this. And for what? we are not in contention for anything this year.
Lets play our rookies, let them learn from actually doing something on the court, in a real game, in real time. I want to see why we drafted Luke Babbitt and AJ. I want to see Rudy play more minutes - we should grind him down in his last year.

This is a very ridiculous statement, a 75% Roy is more productive then Rudy ever will be or Batum. Its not about someone deferring to Roy, they have run the offense through both he and LA for a few years now. I'm not an NBA coach or anything near it, but bringing your All-star, leader, franchise player, top playmaker off the bench if you know anything about team sports is the most  ridiculous option I've heard.

Players go through slumps, you don't get out of slumps by sitting on the bench.

Trade Rudy for another big man, Joel will help 100% more, Brandons knee will suddenly feel much better when the wins start coming. But slump or whatever it is quitting on your best player is flat out stupid. Trading dead weight who has very little heart in the game which = no effort, is the smartest get what we can while we can.

I am with KIM~ play the stars, get rid of dead weight, wait it out and the slump will fix on its own.

If you watch the games you are just as frustrated as I am, we all see that we are under performing but BROY is still drawing attention and is our best chance at getting out of a slump hurt or not. They wouldn't be playing him if it was entirely serious.

Brandon won't "heal": you can't regrow meniscus. For a guy with no knees, he's still a h--- of a player. Fewer minutes? Yeah. Relegated to 6th man? Um... Let's see what Matthews can do before we take that step.

Like Nate pays ANY attention to us anyway. ;-)

It was a knee, he tore his ACL was flown down to i think LA, but perhaps it was home to POR, and 8 days later he was out on the floor.

But perhaps that is what Bdawg is adressing as well, the horrible judgement this organization has when it comes to benching a player, and playing a player.....

YOu are pretty accurate on the others though, L.A and Camby tired as heck, without question.
Rudy i believe is the teams best 3pt asset, WM i thought was brought in to play the number 2, not the 3, and Rudy is an inch taller than him so you would think have Rudy come in a play backup to Nic and or Roy.
If you sit Roy out, Start WM, have Rudy back up Wesley, Start Batum and then you can bring in Dante or, i hate to say it, Luke.
Luke as a F would be very interesting, we know, or we hear, he can shoot, but can he drive, does he have what it takes to play a backup to someone like Batum?
I think that Lucky Luke could save this teams problem with making up for Roys offense if he sits.
Tell Luke to start the ice bath......its finna get rough.
