This has got to be a joke, right. The Blazers want to get a good draft pick at the end of the year? Maybe the Blazers want to lay low until we have time to get a reliable big man, yeah that's it! We will suck it up for the time being and when we get Joel back, we will come running, gaming like we know how to play ball in the 4th quarter of a basketball game. I think I heard Mike Rice say, during another 4th quarter loss, there wasn't a blazer who has shot above 20% in the 4th quarter, the last three games. Come on, we had another decent lead halfway through the 3rd and we lost it again. How can L.A. have such an explosive first half (18 pts, 8 rbs) and not do anything the whole second half! Roy I can understand, he is probably feeling the long minutes. Batum has another disappointing outing, and D.C. was nowhere to be found. When is the 4th quarter wow's going to stop guys, who is going to step up. On a good note, Matthews had another productive game! How about some input!

Same old, same old.  Now we can't even beat Philly.  So let's see if I got this right.  We didn't take Durant (unanimous player of the year) because he wouldn't fit well with Roy who at the time management knew had bad knees and would only last a couple of years at best, but we used the excuse that we really needed a big.  Is that right?  Nothing against Oden, but even if he was healthy and playing like a beast, Roy would still be fading out like a bad bulb at the end of games because of his knees.  He can no longer jump and has lost a step for the drive so what's he do now?  Sit and watch like everyone else on the team?  Where's the motion offense?
I agree it's time to totally start over by drafting the best player available, keeping Mathews and Johnson, getting a couple of decent bigs and rebuilding; not to mention that we still don't have a good point guard for the future.  So it looks like were bottom feeders for the next few years.  At this rate, we might just as well get ourselves a coach that likes a run-n-gun style so at least it will be fun to watch us lose.  Otherwise it's just, "big bad yawn."

we lost because of armon johnson, no one respects his shot, and so istead of pushing out our lead, we squandered it every time he went in the game, he is useless, we need to trade that first round pick to the raptors and get back bayless as he is obviously very valuable to this team

I don't think the loss has to do with talent. I really don't. I've said this to some others, but it feels like there are more than a few vacant spots on the team right now. It just "feel" like the teams of 08 or 09. When we lost Outlaw, we lost much more than his 4th quarter ability; he also kept the locker room laid back and relaxed. When we lost Webster, we lost more than a great defender; he was a constant face in the locker room for the past 5 years. Basically what I'm saying is the team isn't gelling and I'm not sure they are trusting one another right now, which could be why they are breaking down in the 4th quarter. When the times get the toughest, you need to be able to believe the person next to you is going to get the job done. Also, don't underestimate the absence of Przybilla, our very own intimidator. Intangibles, not talent, is what's harming us right now.

I strongly agree with you Hawes with regard to the impact felt by Joel's absence.  This team will be measureably better the moment he steps back onto the court and even better, a month later with the added chemistry that can only come with time.  However, I feel the need to caution those that think daisies will suddenly spring from the Rose Garden floor and a rainbow will arch it's way across the arena, stretching from basket to basket.  Only so much can be expected of the man, let's not put "Oden Expectations" on Joel.

The one thing I've noticed that all three of our former Blazers had in common; Web, JBay, and Trav...was what we are clearly starving for now, anemic offensively.  All three players could create for themselves with the bounce, and all three could finish strong at the rim.  Besides Matthews, who do we have now that can do ANY of that?  Pretty easy to defend a team of poor standstill jumpshooters, esp in the fourth, when the gas tank is low and the legs are shot.

A good 4th qtr? I'm still waiting for a full game. The team needs a shot in the arm somehow, someway, rightaway! But going into Boston, to quote Kevin Garnett, ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE!!

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
