http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/fran_blinebury/04/22/mutombo20090422/index.html I was saddened to see a great man like Dikemebe go down, hes an awsome Man of God, who lives it out. I even more saddened by some of the people in the stands who clapped, and waved their fingers when he went down. Classless... the only bad thing about the playoffs, these fans are just that fans and forget to put things in perspective, breathe people it will be okay its just basketball.

With that said, there were even more fans that gave him a standing ovation as he was taken off the floor. That wasn't a standing ovation because he was gone, it was for who he is as a person. There was already a topic posted about this that night and we had several fans type in their feelings about Dikembe. All were classy tributes to him, his career, and his contributions to the global community. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. We feel for Deek, he is a good man and is more intelligent than any of us could imagine. As offended as I am at those who wagged their finger at Deek, I am almost as offended by being lumped in with them.

I was going to say, I was so proud of our fans that night. They gave him a standing ovation because they saw a legend of the gmae being taken out, perhaps for the last time. That's how I judged the situation anyway.
I am a fan of not being a fan of the close season :)

exactly my point. I am sure there were a few drunk punks that waved their finger, don't get me wrong. I just know what I saw, what I felt, and am proud of Rip City as a whole for how they handled it rather than lumping it together with the few punks in the stadium.

I wasn't at the game, but on TV the crowd appeared very supportive. It's a shame that a few idiotic and classless fans displayed such distaste. In life, there's always going to be those few bad apples. Natural selection will weed them out though.

What was more important was the vast majority of fans applauded the big man. Stay classy Portland.
I am a fan of the 2008-2009 Season. What a ride! Thank you Blazers!

WTF do you call Tim Duncan. The dude is arguably the best PF in NBA history, I guess I did not realize that all this time he was making first team all NBA ballots that he was not a superstar.

The rules limit the effectiveness of defenders these days Blaser. Lebron would win defensive player of the year every year if he could hand check people and hold on to his man like the old days.

Wow some serious high hopes for JJ there.

@Cailin Isn''t a little ironic that the Heat are on pace to win a second straight NBA title despite being the worst rebounding team statistically in the NBA this season.

I would trade the pick, the team is in rebuild mode and I am not sure Burke is the guy I really want on my team. Since my team needs a PG a PF and maybe a SG depending on how they feel about Afflalo still.

Want to talk about trade LA possibilities then maybe it is time to reexamine the Cavs as an option for LA. Can get pick #1 and some pieces or work out a three way trade with the Bucks and Cavs. If we could end up with Thompson, Gee and Sanders for...

Considering that is the only aggressive thing he has ever done in his life, it is not likely he will do anything. Maybe if he did I might respect him more. But its alright enjoy your higher ticket prices to pay this joker 11 million a year.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.
