When it comes down to it, there are 2 sure ways to revamp your line up.  Either Paul Allen has to be willing to open his pocket book and pay to bring another player in.  Or Portland needs to go back to the drawing board figure out what we need.  What we need hasn't changed, we need a big who plays back to the basket, commands a double and allows ROY and LA to roam.  Like they love to do.

I say re-tool, Roy, Oden (who is likely gone anyway) and LA are young still.  I say shelve Roy for the year, get a high draft pick, and re-tool.  Next year you will have a healthy super star, possibly have GO ready to go, and have a legit rookie big.

No matter how much Paul Allen is willing to shell out for another player, it just won't work. This isn't Major League Baseball where there is no salary cap. Portland will be over the cap for the foreseeable future and only able to sign players for the Mid-Level Exception (such as Wesley).

if we got a high draft pick, what position would you target?

D, I think careful consideration will be given to simply selecting the "best available player".  Lately, drafting for position hasn't seemed to work out so well for this team.  Remember too, that an entirely different mind-set is in that GM chair at the head of the War Room table come draft day.  As mentioned on the MSP this morning, their isn't a restriction on how much an owner can spend on a COACH.  While I am not a Nate basher, I do wonder if he just isn't the best fit here.

We need to a potent pg whether draft or trade. In the draft wee need either Josh Selby or Kemba Walker to the team both can break down defenses, shoot, set up teamates and effectively ISO.  Then we need a center i say we offer a wes matthews type contract to kendrick perkins. Then the team is set as the team is set up to revolve around central scorers with 3 potent scorers surrounded by shooters/slashers/penetrators we should be able to operate appropriately.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.

Nah, Washington would just sign him themselves, save them a pick. Also, no way JJ is worth a lottery pick. Oladipo would be great, for pretty much any team in the NBA. I don''t think it''s possible to get him though. Should focus on getting a defe...

Jermaine O''Neal, Drazen, Z-Bo, Sheed (I know he was already a star but still). Also Drazen was buried under Drexler and Porter.

EZ, are you kidding me? You essentially want to trade LMA for Noel, or worse, DEANDRE JORDAN?

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.

Special K, aren''t you a cereal? And yes, Batum is expensive, but I think he''s worth it. Why would you take someone who isn''t is as good, just for less money. Then why don''t we take the worst possible player and pay him the least possible amoun...
