Is there any way we can get the magic back at the RG? In 2008, the team had a magical year at home, highlighted by Roy's 30ft buzzer beater to beat Houston. We could've had a couple more wins at home(back-to-back losses to Orlando and LAC that should've gone our way) Here's a couple suggestions: Get loud on defense like they do at Autzen and Qwest. Which brings to my second suggestion- give everyone thundersticks, not  just at the free throw sections, but everyone in the audience. Speaking of thundersticks; is there any rule that says they can't make red sticks and not white? Would not the red blend in with the rim better, making it more difficult for the opponent to see the rim?
Feel free to offer suggestions on how we as fans can make it difficult for the opponent.

I've been pushing for this for quite some time now.  However, I would argue that the fans have done their part.  The RG consistently sells out and the fans are second to none around the league.  How many arenas have we heard anything remotely close to the "Mar---cus...Cam---by" chant in the last decade?  Perhaps some "MVP" chants here and there, but c'mon.  This fanbase is rabid, and at it's core...loyal.  The latter of the two will be needed for sustainability.

I believe, and have stated here on these boards several times, that the PLAYERS now have to come to the party at home.  Opponents no longer fear playing in the Rose Garden.  Joel brings an element that is sorely lacking, an enforcer type of mentality and a guy that plays with pride.  PRIDE to me is the key ingredient at home, and I am just not seeing it.  I am not one for making excuses either.  The last guy on Nate's bench can play with pride, so injuries and other misfortunes don't factor in here IMO.

    PLAY WITH PRIDE!

All that said, I love your idea with the red thundersticks behind the backboards.
I am a fan of players that play with PASSION and PRIDE

It's tough as a season ticket holder watching us lose these close games, especially losing them down the stretch like we have.  The lack of an anchor in the middle to do the dirty work and grab some boards is most definitely needed.  Outrebounded by 21 against New Orleans is what lost us that game.  Joel hope you feel better.  We need you big guy!

I love the idea of red thundersticks.  And how about we don't clap them at freethrows?  What if everyone held the sticks straight up and then just slightly tilted them by about 15 degrees clockwise as the player begins to shoot.  This could throw off there vertical perception which could lead to a missed free throw, dizziness, and (if we are lucky) uncontrollable vomiting.
I am a fan of being .500!!! We got them right where we want them. The other teams won't be expecting the ninth seeded Blazers to win!!! Muhahaha

AS  die hard fans i see most of you putting too much emotion on to one player.
Oden for example for the past 2 summers, there are always hopes of him returning and all the "But we would be so good with Oden" talk.
Then there was Roy and Aldridge at the begining of this season, People wanted aldridge to play different, better, and he did make some signifigant changes, but none to anyone;s liking much.
Roy, always expected to shine, but when all the other tires blew out, Roy had so much on him, his knee blows out.

There were other things too, the "excellent" rookie selection, adding Mathews as a role player, heck even the basketball player turned 2nd rate actor Patty Mills had super hype all over him, i mean has he even played this year?
Adding someone like Iggy, he is just going to become another hope, im not saying he will disappoint, but i am just trying to prove a pattern that i have seen develop.
idk, im not attacking nor do i have any real solutions, you know, its hard to say, "perhaps you shouldnt be so crucial." when the teams record is what it is.

what does this have to do with trying to improve things to disrupt the opposition?

it might have nothing to do with it........
or it might have everything to do with disrupting the opposition........

Actually, I would like Henson. Dude is a legit BEAST. 17 points, 25 rebounds, 7 blocks. Larry who, this guy will be a star.

You''re right. They should dump Monta though. I was thinking maybe the Rockets could use the number 1 pick to get the lakers to do a sign and trade for D12.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
