No one is talking about it ??  Amazing.  No one pays attention to good news, that's a fact here.

Wow, this IS great news. You'll have to forgive me Kim, as I'm in Europe, so not as much exposed to Portland news as I would like, but in the age of the internet, shouldn't be too difficult, I know. Thanks though, for pointing out something that is bigger than basketball and about life. Though we can talk all about our team, it's such things that matter and when it is the added bonus of our team, guys that more than likely have food on their table each day, not to mention Thanksgiving, take their time to serve those less fortunate when it is so very cold outside a bit earlier than we may be used to - it's excellent. In different way, we are all going through hard times with the economy, so I think it's time we remember those less fortunate than ourselves, not only on this holiday that is all about being thankful, but all year round. Hopefully, this can inspire us, especially our younger generation to contribute to the soceity in this way, when they see their on-court heroes being true heroes off-court as well. Peace.  - Anees

    From OregonLive.com

The Trail Blazers took a day off from practice today to host the 15th annual Harvest Dinner Tuesday at the Rose Garden, where thousands of homeless and critically low-income people received a Thanksgiving-style meal and other services.

Blazers coaches, players and front-office personnel volunteered at the event, which was presented by Providence Health & Services. In addition to food, people received a host of other services, ranging from a flu shot to a haircut.

"It's a great opportunity to meet the community and feed some people," McMillan said. "There's so many people with issues in this country, and the turnout over the last two years has been amazing. First of all, it's fun. It's a great feeling, and you're helping some people get a hot meal. And you know some of those people, this may be all they have for the day."

that makes me sad, what nate said at the end. :( do they take volunteers for that event, or is just blazer staff? if they do, id like to volunteer next year.

I enjoyed my time helping out. Like Wesley said, it was very bittersweet, because one one hand, you're doing good for the community in their time of need, but it is sad that so many people still are without daily amenities. I am already looking forward to helping out again.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!
