How can I sum up the season so far? Forget the heavy road games to start the season. Forget the injuries that has happened so far(Oden out for the year, again; Roy's nagging knee, Rudy's back) The season can be summed up by what's been happening on the court, in particular the 3 point shooting.  If the Blazers shoot more 3 pointers than the opponent, they are 4-2(both to Oklahoma City) If the opponent shoots more 3 pointers than the Blazers, they are 2-4(wins against NY and Denver) Let's talk shooting %; of the Blazers 8 wins, 6 of them were because they had a better 3pt shooting % than the opponents. Again look at the OKC games. Of the 6 losses, 5 of them were because the opponent shot a better 3 pt shooting % than the opponents. Only Denver had a better shooting % than Portland, and the Blazers still won. So if you get a feel for how the game is going to turn out, watch the 3 point shooting and hope it's going in favor of the Blazers.

While I do think the team can rely on 3's too much at times, I think the story of the season is movement and tempo. When we win, it feels like cutters are flying to the hoop and we are running at every opportunity. When we lose, players stand around, a lot of 1-on-1 occurs, and the tempo is very slow. Again, I don't have any stats to base that upon, rather just game by game observations.

Let me try to remember our 6 loses... 2 of them came from OKC, in close games.

4 of them came in blowouts.

OKC doesn't have our number, regardless of us being 0-2 against them so far (I think we got jipped in OKC, and just gave up in POR).  Obviously, I'm blaming energy more than 3 point shooting.  Although, against Utah, it was only a blowout because of last minute free throws (which generally throw off how close a game was, like OKC vs MIN last night), but 38-20 in a quarter is getting blown out.

We need to have more energy when we play.  In Chicago we looked pathetic.  In New Orleans and LA we looked pathetic, and against Utah, we looked decent, but we allowed them to hit big shots down the stretch.  Even with Roy and Joel we'd have likely lost.  They aren't exactly the best perimeter defenders.

I feel like it's the coaching that killed us in the game against OKC at Portland. Our guys had tired legs, and McMillan threw them out there anyway. He needs to have more confidence in our bench. It seems like everytime Nate has thrown Johnson out there in the last minutes of the games he'd put together a nice little run, but by the time he got out there we we're too far in the hole to make a comeback.

And Dhawes is right, when there's alot of ball movement the Blazers excel.
But I strongly believe we are lacking in 3 pt shooters, it seems like the last couple of days Rudy & Batum havent been able to knock down anything as far as 3's go.

If we are lacking in 3 pointers then we've got to see more Luke Babbitt sometime soon, right? I realize guys needs minutes but we did deal Marty for him and he was dubbed "the best shooter in the draft" so why not throw him out there for a 5 minute stint?

    .

Still you really dont think that they are better?
They have a guy who averaged 30 ppg last year, in his 3rd year. He won the MVP in FIBA led his team undefeated against the rest of the world.
He is on route to getting his first MvP title this year. Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook are the most efficient scoring tandem in the NBA, they have surpassed the amount of pts Kobe and Gasol have put up together.
They are on a roll, their players have no limit to what they are capable of, James Harden for instance, another 2nd year guy, who step it up BIG when they were playing without Durant. Grabbed a double double i believe to help them beat Boston, at home, without Durant.
In that aspect alone they are better than portland, their players know when to step it up, where as we have pretty much been on cruise control after those first 3 wins.
Their team is not just Kevin Durant, and they have proved that this year more than the previous years, they know how to fight, and they have a darn good coach who continues to push his team, though all the media BS and the negativity, they have managed.
What can portland say they have done this year? Except lose a handful of members in record short timing?
We lost what,3 , 4? already, if you count the Camby pre season injury, thats 5. Really, if you wouldn't mind explaining How we are better than OKC this year?
Without making a reference such as ( but if we had Oden, we would dominate.)
    Just facts.

Claver will make a great squad player when he develops his outside shot. His size is an asset because he can guard SF and stretch 4s. If he can be a better rebounder and add a post move to his game we could be looking at a possible answer to our f...

Oden was definitely the best pick coming out of high school and arguably ahead of Durant in the 2007 draft. But the draft is art not science and we really needed a dominant center at the time. If we can get Oden for a short term low-risk deal. Lik...
