An interesting point when it comes to Odens Future with the Blazers.

    So we sign Oden to after this season, because it seems that we have to; we have to get at least 100 games in 4 seasons, right? But think about it, he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the '11-'12 season, so that means he gets to go were ever he wants! After stating in an Si.com interview that he has a hard time walking the streets of Stumptown, it's hard to say what he will do. Wouldn't it be the Blazers luck to nurse Oden through all these injuries, pay him a ton of money to have 3 surgeries, then watch him go to another team and blossom into a great center? Just saying, it's another way of thinking about things!

    I would love to keep him... but I don't know the rules when it comes to free agency if we can offer less $ or if it HAS to be a raise...

    I think keeping him would be great and I hope the Blazers can, but with him saying that he is uncomfortable walking the streets of Portland, just leads me to think he has already moved on. Oden still has a future in the NBA, maybe even a great future, he is only 22 and has youth on his side. I really hope he makes the decision to stick with the team that has supported him through all this. With a decision like that one Portlandians would welcome Greg on the streets of Portland anytime just do to his loyalty!

    The idea is to sign him for one year. It's the safest option there is. That gives him a chance to prove himself. Plus we're dangling a carrot in front of him with the number.

    If I were in his position I would be nervous to walk around too.  I would feel like everybody I saw I let down and it has to hurt the guy

    It's the fans fault for blaming him on injuries.  Like he doesn't want to play?  I heard he's developing depression and drinking habits because people treat him so poorly.  They'll regret it if he leaves in 12 after winning us a championship in 11

    The ESPN sight said it best, Blazers expect so much out of Oden that he should be traded. And the truth is that even though he was a number one pick, he's just not that guy and our expectations shouldn't be so high. Not to mention that the Blazer's are our ONLY cherished pro team that we have high hopes for. Because if they blow what do we have, college football and tree huggers. Like nate said, being positive is best and best for oden and like wise, where the mind goes the body will follow. Again think positive.. Think about it, he doesn't have anything keeping him here other than a contract and his fans are dissappointed in him for good reason though and he's had plenty of time for all of this to put him into depression. Too bad this guy hasn't proven himself yet so we could keep him for the long run. I say we give this big-old-young guy some breathing room and some how make sure he has the Blazer's Best Long Term interests in mind.

    Yes, I want him to stay too, as I stated on the press conference video on trailblazers.tv  - it would break my heart if we did help him get through the injuries and then for him to go elsewhere and do well. While I would be happy for him if that were to happen - we wouldn't be benefiting from it as a team/city, so why not keep him, as we've seen him through this. Yes, I'm sure it is hard for him to see us fans around the city at times, but if we show him support when we do see him and that we are sticking by him, then maybe he won't be disappointed or feel sad when he sees us. Greet him with a smile, offer a HIGH5 or other positive feedback and let him know that we are excited for him when he does comeback - WHEN not IF - and that we will be cheering for him both on and off the court. 

    GO G.O and GO BLAZERS!!!
    I am a fan of Beating the Lakers on opening night, Lillard being the next big thing and this season being successful!

    I think if this team Resigns Oden, then they should be completley removed from Portland, relocated and renamed to Seattle Submarines.
    Because, why would anyone in their right mind resign?
    Everyone complains about him first off, then wonder why we still have him, wonder why we lose games, dont have a BENCH.
    Oden for a Bench?
    I mean here, what is costing us more games, Oden? Or our bench?
    and what is going to help us win games, Oden? Sitting at home, with a fat ice pack? Or a BENCH!
    Like i said, all the problems this team has, the solutions are right in front of them, they just need to

    If the thread said Babbitt beat some brothers you all would be expecting a hate crime. I do not see why this is a big deal. Police beat their wives daily and we do not have a thread about that and that is a real issue plaguing society.
