So every team has been asking about Nic Batum, who should we trade him for?

He isnt the knock down 3pt shooter Batum is but he is arguably better on defense and is familar with Nate from his time with team usa where he did an excellent got of guarding powers forewards.  He would be able to take pressure off of Roy and he is a good distributor and shot blocker

We have a very good team; why would anyone even think about trading away our chances at the playoffs??? Just the idea gives me the cold chills - I wasn't very happy about losing Bayless, and Armon still has to prove to me that it was worth it. We need Nic, and I for one don't want to give him up for ANYONE!@!

Sounds like you are discribing Batum. He may not be fully there yet, but he has the potential. A bird in the hand is better then 2 in the bush.

Beside all you said. Nate knows Nate's system and If Nate starts getting more faith in Batum, he can take the heat off BRoy. If the Blazers, while BRoy is mending, makes Batum and LMA the number one and the number two option with BRoy and Andre being the distributor They would have to dbl Nic and LMA, giving Dre and BRoy a free walk to the basket.

Just my thought on it, but I am prejudice, Batum is my hero.

I respect you guy's opinions but at best Batum can become an andre igoudala with a 3 point shot.  Batum can handle the rock but he cant create his own shot,  @HankGentry how would trading Nic limit us getting to the playoffs? Andre Igoudala has led his team to the playoffs and took the magic to 6 games and has hit game winning shots.  I say he helps us get farther in the playoffs, Batum doesnt set up others, he plays off others. While Iggy can play off, create his own shot, and distribute.   Do we need him to do those things no but it allows us to keep the beneifts of Batum and add to the team. Another plus is outside of Andre who on the team can get Roy open looks off of his own iso.........ill wait If we can trade Batum and NO's 1st round pick and our 1st round pick for Andre Igoudala and Thaddeus Young i would execute in a heartbeat.   By the way i love frenchy but im practical and the only ppl on this team that are truly off limits are Roy and LA

How is this thread a troll thread?

Almost every single NBA team has asked the status of Nicholas Batum.... Fact of the matter is, he's a young 21 year old player with a lot of potential. Possibly we could look into trading him for some building blocks to help our team out. It is brothering me that I have to explain to you about what this thread is for. Everybody else got it but somehow you think it is a troll thread... Lol?

Oh yeah, I would like to see a Anthony trade. Blazers need a selfish scorer that can carry a game. It sounds bad, but I think we need somebody like Anthony coming in. Possibly Nicholas Batum and Przybilla (once Oden gets healthy) would be a nice trade...

Rumor was the proper word to use for this thread. Here is why. The definition of rumor is:

: talk or opinion widely disseminated with no discernible source (www.m-w.com, word search: Rumor)

I was openly discussing my opinion of where Nicholas Batum should be traded to with no discernible source.

So you changing the thread name is only misleading people when I had a more accurate topic header..... Just sayin, lol.

You actually don't know how to put sense in things. You do not know what the context of the word rumor is on the NBA and you are actually the one who's misleading people. Merriam Webster certainly defined that word as such. But in the NBA, a rumor only comes out when there's an actual negotiation going on between teams. So the truth is, you don't know how to create "a more accurate topic header." Just sayin, lol.

He said in the NBA the word "rumor" is taken within a different context in the NBA.  The definition may be as such but it is a word that can easily lead to misinformation or mislead others.  Like BonJ said the word rumor in the NBA is taken as people negotiating about players.  Before you go off on the definition, it doesn't matter what the exact definition is it's how it is taken that matters.  If you say a pot of water is hot, while 9 other people say its luke warm, anybody that asks how hot the water is will believe the water is luke warm over hot because the mass said it was warm.  Its how the world tends to work, fact.

Dude they will never give up batum, alot of these guys think that he will become the most dominant SF in the league, i guess he is going to be better than players like Melo......?

its a TRAILBLAZERS WEBSITE where else should he talk about this topic? CMON!
I mean now your just looking for ways to jump on this guy, and its really NOT funny.
I would actually like to see someone, ANY one who could present a good argument to as why Batum is a "keeper"and why we cannot trade him, and to explain how he has more potential than Carmello Anthony,
because i have yet to hear a good reason that makes any sense.

And Kim idk why you do that, is it cute to you? is that fun?

Why the hell would we trade Batum?  He is maybe the best player we have right now since roy is injured.  He is easily our best player on d, a good passer and knocks down threes and is a pretty good mid range jump shoooter as well.  Unless we can get like d wade for him or something there is no way we should even think about trading him.  The only players we should consider trading are miller and pryzbilla since they both have expiring contracts and we could get a superstar in return for those two and maybe one of our young guys.

Okay, lets break this post down. You are talking about this quote "So every team has been asking about Nic Batum, who should we trade him for? " which has been unedited, untouched and left in its purest state.

This is a fact. Nuggets have been asking several times about the status of Batum. Batum has been a potential candidate for most improved player, he is young, he is injury free (with the exception of his shoulder but 100% healed). He is not only known for his versatility on offense, being able to hit the 3-ball, pull up, free-throw. Really, the only thing Nic needs to work on is putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. He is most known for his well rounded defensive style of play which makes him one of the most desired play, especially since his potential is nowhere near the ceiling.

So going back to my quote "So every team has been asking about Nic Batum, who should we trade him for?"

My question is, Nic is very skilled and a lot of teams in the NBA are interested in snagging him. Not only for his young age and potential to be reached yet but also for his success in shutting down MVPs.

The pure fact that you didn't get that from "So every team has been asking about Nic Batum, who should we trade him for? " is beyond me.

Never did I say "Well we're going to trade Nic Batum, who should we do it for? My original post header was "RUMOR". Look up the definition of RUMOR, could really be helpful.

Nah, Tiki. Just stick with putting it as an opinion rather than a rumor because of you are going to insist on it as the latter, people would just be ranting: "why the hell would we trade Batum?" and "Nic is one of our goods". People would not be able to answer your question, "so every team has been asking about Nic Batum, who should we trade him for?"
First off, to answer your revamped forum title: (DEN) Melo and Andersen / (MEM) Conley and Thabeet and Arthur / (CLE) Varejao and Gibson / (HOU) Hill and Budinger

    Here's how it is.

Nic is not going to be traded anytime soon. So drop the word "should".

Carmelo Anthony is not about to come to Portland, nor vice versa.

NBA Rumors aren't like celebrity or high school rumors. They are an entirely different context.

The rumors presented are claiming that teams are interested in Nic. Honestly though, who wouldn't be?
The rumor is not that a team is asking for players x and y for Nic. The rumor is not that the Blazers are going, let alone willing, to trade him.

We are all free to talk on here, but it's best if things are kept reasonable and sensible. This debate is neither.

I got an idea, how about we trade our coach! Nate Mcmillan for Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan anyone?

As far as trading Nic Batum, I wouldn't think it would be wise.
We need to keep our strong & flourishing players, and take out the trash.
Package Roy, Mills, Miller, Williams, & Pryzbilla for an elite/top 5 draft picks, and than use the lottery pick we will get, NO's pick, and our second round pick to rebuild this once good team.

Oh, and find a new coach. Nate's BS "coaching" irritates me.

    PORTLANDS FUTURE ROSTER:

    PG: Brandon Knight, Armon Johnson
SG: Alec Burks, Rudy Fernandez, Wes Matthews
    SF: Nicolas Batum, Luke Babbitt
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge, Dante Cunningham, Jeremy Tyler
    C: Greg Oden, Marcus Camby

    Uhhhh, it's a wrap.
If you've seen this kid Brandon Knight play, you'd know he means business.
Every PG to come out of Kentucky recently has meant business...trust me he's worth it.

    SF
    Batum, Babbitt, Victor Claver
    PF
    Aldridge, Varejao, Joel Freeland
    C
    Oden, Thabeet

    *
assuming that Camby is going to retire
*I would like to see those players in bold letters being traded for our team without giving up much for them. As for those in underlines, those players are the ones that this team have international rights and are currently not active in the NBA. They should be playing here now.

We don't have the pieces to get Conley, Andy V, and Thabeet.  The teams they play for would want a lot for them.  I would personally love to see Claver here he has a sweet jumper and he can bust inside and a heck of a passer.  Plus Rudy would love having him with us.  Also on a side note I would rather go for Marc Gasol over Hasheem but thats just me

Well as a member of the VFW I would think the first part is sincere. As far as the second part you will be going to basic than to AIT since I do not what your MOS will be, it could be anywhere from 2 - 18 months during that time you would be hard pressed getting to a computer and if you do posting here on the blazer site would probably be at the bottom of your priorities. With all that being said Congrats on your enlistment. I will be looking forward to your posts when you can 8+)

I would not like to see a Batum trade.  In fact I can actually see any other Blazer traded before Batum would be.

In the midst of the depressing news of GO's upcoming surgery, and Roy's injury, and the Batum rumors (please don't trade him!), your post made me laugh...thank you for that.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
