If Roy has to sit for a period of time this season, L.A. should step it up and make actual the potential we have seen in him. He has a superstar contract, now he needs to be scoring 25 with 10 rebounds a night.
This should be his goal and he should feel like a failure if he doesn't accomplish these type of numbers.
He has been Healthy and it's his 5th year.
Now it's time to show up big time. What do you all think about L.A. being a "franchise player" or his ability to be what we need in a leader right now?
Do you think he could be a high scorer everynight?
Do you think He could keep the ship afloat while Roy gets better?
Obviously one man can't win every game for us, but If that one man is a beast it certainly doesn't hurt our chances to compete.

I don't think Aldridge has the right game style to become a franchise player. I had some conversations with people through this forum about this.

If you look at every franchise player, all of them are aggressive and or take high % shots. Look at L-Train, he makes terrible fade-away jump shots for no reason. Yes, it is amazing how he makes so many, but the % of shot is horrible. Also, I don't think L.A has the inside dominece to really become a franchise player.

Are we over paying him for his talent? Big time. Do the Blazers need a day-in-day-out type of player even though the's not an all-star? Big time.

So to answer your question in short, I think he is not a franchise player but still a big time threat. He gets doubled a lot and I think he needs to find the open man.

    I would.

He is so over paid it is disgusting.

The dude is what? 6-11'? How do you not get at least 10 boards a night? Joakim Noah is averaging 14 or something and he's I think 6-11 also. Maybe 7 feet

20 pt 10 rb is very realistic for aldridge.

Kevin Love is 6'10 and has the vertical of turtle but gets boards bc hes wide and clears space with his base to corrall board, Noah is meatier than alderige and is way more active on the boards.  Aldrige just needs to attack the glass and get good positioning for boards against smaller 4 and 5 he can use his length to get boards but against bigger opponent fundamentals will result in more boards.

I guess if LA has the means to become a beast, I think he should whether or no Roy can play. Put on some more muscle, amp up the attitude, and attack!

But Noah works harder than the entire Blazers Team, hahaha, that fool deserves it.
And why are people talking about Aldridge, isnt Camby the leading Rebounder for the team?

Aldridge actually has improved quite a bit this year.  Its just not showing in the stats since his improvements have been mostly on d.  I dont think it is realistic to expect aldridge to become a franchise player this year or next.  But I do think he should be able to get ten rebounds and maybe put up slightly worse numbers than Dirk is putting up in Dallas sometime in the future.  But For now i am just glad that he has improved a bit on defense.
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

Good idea, the team needs leader. In my opinion L.A. can score 20-25 points and 10 rebounds per game but he has to work harder and harder, He is talented but ... We will see who become a leader when Roy's still will have big problems with his knees or He manage to play 20-25 minutes per game with intensity to score 15-20 points ?,

I think We have to be patient, it is only 11 games...

Let's trade our entire team for a time machine.  Portland would be pretty sweet with a time machine...

It is amazing how quickly Blazer fans are ready to go to the mat with nukes at the first sign of problems. I'll grant you, we have had more than our share of "first signs," But our team has a ridiculous amount of talent, and if we have evolved in anything over the last few years, it has been the ability to play with flexibility. Give it a few games and see where all of this goes. It will be at LEAST entertaining, and I think we have some wins in our future.

Its not that they want to "bring out the nukes", its directly what you said.
But our team has a ridiculous amount of talent

Thats it. Thats all they have. How many times has that been the only solution presented to our problems.
Oden goes down- "Oh its okay, Aldridge is Oozing with Talent"
Trade outlaw- "oh its okay, Batum will make up for it with his Talent"
its that type of stuff that i think everyone is upset about. Last night in the Denver game the Announcer made a very true statement, probably the best you will hear all year, i dont know who said it, maybe Marc Jackson.

The Blazers bench is just being outplayed because they dont have any role players. They lost their go to guys in Travis Outlaw, Jerryd Bayless, and Martell Webster.

Now i jumped UP and Down when he said that, because its probably the only True statement about this team currently. Our starters , With Roy, are great, i am not the biggest Andre Miller supporter but, he does make it work. But the starters cant PLAY the whole game, so when we send in our Infant players like Babbit, every point is better than what is expected. I mean guys like Outlaw, you expected him to get maybe 8-10 points a game. Webster to hit a couple 3's, Bayless 4 points and lets say 4 assists.
This is what we need right now. We are unable to finish our game with maximum effeciency because of our bench or better yet, Lack of bench.
