Saturday was embarrassing and humiliating, but I haven't heard anyone come up with what I consider the biggest reason for our loss...we got outcoached. Rick Adelman had his team ready, knew exactly the two things he had to do, and had his team do them to perfection.
Get the crowd out of it. For the first five minutes of the game, the crowd was loud and in it. Once they built the lead, it was sit on our hands time.
Go early and hard inside and get Joel and Oden out of it with fouls.
Outcoached. Adelman had his team ready, put his plan in place, and then had his team run it to perfection. I would even guarantee you that before the game, Adelman was talking to the refs telling them that Joel and Oden beat up on poor Yao, and please let him play. Adelman knew that Yao was on and he road that horse early and often. Mac had Brandon doing the same thing and he took him out of the game. As far as anyone I have talked to has seen, Mac made no adjustments on Yao. Everyone knows you front him and keep the ball out of his hands. It didn't happen. Then in the second half, when they stopped going to Yao, Mac made no adjustments again, to take care of Artest and Scola. Mac needs to Man up and admit that a large part of the first loss was due to his coaching, or lack there of.

The first two games that we played Houston Joel played him straight up and he was very ineffective. The last game when we fronted Yao trying to deny him the ball he had a much better game. I don't think it just so happened to be this way. In game 1 he scored most of his points off scrappy plays in which he got open for a dunk or layup and the rest off mid range jumpers and fade-aways, not post moves. There's no way he's gonna be able to consistently hit that fade-away shot. That's the shot we want him to take. We just need to body him up and keep him away from the basket. If he's not close to the basket he usually takes a jumper because he doesn't have quick enough feet to get past anyone. If we front him then he can get as deep of position as he wants and if he gets the ball thats an easy basket. I say we use the twin towers to clean up the glass and provide help underneath. If we control the boards we win. We could also get offense from whichever one has the smaller defender by just backing down.
I also think Nate should play Bayless against Brooks to slow him down, at least in the second half so he can't kill us from the outside late in the game. Bayless can also make Brooks work on the defensive end so he uses up a lot of his energy trying to stop him from penetrating.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

Hawes was playing nice this season and would be a good pick up imo ...

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
