His knee's all swelled up. If this means ditching it for this season, ain't no thang B-Roy. We got your back

Sit him for most of the year !!!! 1st year of his extension at 85 million and the prospect of permanent knee damage hindering his type of game. He needs to sit and heal that knee!!!!
Sad thought, but maybe a Trade, if another team would take him. I hate to say it but there are good 20 point a night players with good knees in this league that might be had.
Time for Rudy to prove his worth !!!!! Maybe he can bring the energy and drive we saw in the Olympics that made us so happy to have him here. I saw a nice flow and aggressiveness in the Detroit game  when Roy was on the bench. We had 46 points in the paint and 27 fast break points, if we can be more of a up tempo team and get more points in the paint from various players I think we will be ok (enough to make the Playoff's). Granted this was against Detroit and we might have a rude awakening when we play a good team.
Nate needs to see that this team needs to change it's identity if Roy is going to be sitting. Nate needs to see that we can be a fast, aggressive, driving team instead of the slow methodical team centered around ISO's with Roy. If you mix a good defense into a team that tries to score fast, I think it will get us 50 wins.

Like I said on the other Forum, Love Roy, but It might be a good idea to try to trade him. Even though he's done so much for us, so have other players and they get traded too. Jeff Pendergraph is no where near Roy, but we traded him just like that just so blazers can improve. I think Roy's knees will limit his game from this point on. Even if the knees heal or get rested, down the road he'll be slowing down. This is why I think we should trade him now while he's still worth something. I mean, the guy(26) is icing his knees almost 24/7 and drains the fluid out on the usual. His knees might hold up for a few more years but will it help the Blazers get a Championship? Idk. Hate to want to trade the guy, but like everyone says after a trade, "This is a business, we make trades to make a team better, thank you for your services and good luck in the future...."

I just wish the Blazers can stay healthy for one season.

I like what you said. I agree with a change in the offense since Roy isn't firing on all cylinders. Blazers can be a running team with batum, rudy, and La running with the pg. Heck, Camby has shown he can run too. It was nice seeing a few layups aside from his mid-ranged jumpers. The only downside is turnovers, but I do like seeing Armon leading a fast break. He's such a pure pg. For some reason he reminds me of a young Eric Snow.

But yea, I believe if Nate mixes things up a bit we can still shoot for 50+ with the addition of Joel. Shoot I'd sit Oden out for another year and limit him to working out/exercising if this wasn't his last year. = D

Don't head for a bridge yet Blazer nation. Just because Jason "the sky is falling Quick" gave his interpretation.
This is something Roy has always dealt with. Cutting his minutes down is NOT the end of the season, as we saw last night.

I don't think I can take another year like 2010...just too painful. I really feel bad for Brandon because his knees just keep getting banged up and we all saw how injuries can derail a young star's career, as was the case with Penny Hardaway. I really hope it is something minor like a knee bruise, but if and I stress if the knee is pretty beat up, maybe the franchise should look into another direction. I just don't see us challenging for a title without a 100% healthy Brandon Roy and I don't want to be stuck in mediocrity  like we were from 92-98..one and done.

Everything happens for a reason. Wake up call that the team can't rely on Roy alone to carry the offense.  We knew that. The sky is not falling. It is what it is. If this were the first time this has happened with his knee, I would be more concerned.
WM is here now, and Nic is on his way to being another all-star on this team. Like LA and Camby.
My $ is on big Joel to play against Denver next week.

I agree Kim, we CAN do this!  As we all saw last night, the team CAN function without BRoy in for 35-40 mins a game.   I like the direction the offense is going without relying on him all of the time anyways.  Anybody else lovin all of the alley oops?!??!?!

I'm loving the movement! There were times when my jaw dropped at how much the guys were moving around the floor and creating opportunities. AND running! It's so nice to see the defense creating offense. IMO limiting Roy is a good thing. We can give him time to heal up the knee and get other guys some time to potentially develop an offense that isn't completely ISO-based. Having an offense that's Roy-heavy would kill us if he went down going into the playoffs. Versatility will make us a threat, let's use this Roy recovery time to develop it.

I love having Rudy the ball handler of the 2nd unit because it changes the style so dramatically and he loves it.  He is a dynamic player and everybody knows he can pass.  Keep the ball flowing through him when Roy isn't out there and we can coast to some more Ws

Now it's worrisome. I'd rather have him out a few months than to have half a Roy on the floor. This is our franchise player, he HAS to be healthy.

Yeah I like Rudy playing much better than Bayless. Nate should have done that last year.
And guitarj I totally agree , but we do need Brandon still, especially at the end of close games because when he is healthy he is one of the elite players in the league. I'm sure also when he is healthy he would learn to play like this. I've been harping on him this year for standing around shooting jumpers but I didn't know he was hurt.

I just wish I could invent a bionic knee, I would become a billionaire just by having the Blazers as my only client!

I'm really hoping that Brandon doesn't need MF knee surgery, the blazers are sending the MRIs of Elliot, Brandon and Greg to LA for a second opinion...doesn't sound good.

    Obviously Roy should rest.

There are teams which even the bench can thrive against, but up against teams like OKC and the Lakers, Roy's vital to winning. The Blazers can win games without Roy, but with trying to advance in the playoffs there's a snowballs chance in hell without Roy. The season isn't doomed, but if Roy's not rested, which isn't going to happen, the later part of the season and the playoffs probably wont improve from last season. There are months and months in front of us, though.

Kim said it best, we can't rely on roy to carry the offense now therefore blazers should look into trade options. Hate saying it but why would you keep a play that is worth so much to play limited minutes. I mean we would bring in talent that does replace roy, but can fill holes in the line up to make Portland better. Wes Matthews will be fine at the sg. He's still very young and can only get better. He won't replace roy, but he's a good defender just needs to handle the ball a tad better.

(Chris Paul or Deron willims) at pg, wes Matthews sg, Batum Sf, LA Pf, and Joel C.

Get it done Rich Cho BEFORE Roy's value drops down to nothing more that a couple of scrubs and maybe a first round pick.

Or we can all pray and hope that Roy will get back to 90%(he'll never get to 100%)  and maintain a healthy career.

Wesley Matthews started for the Utah Jazz. He did so well that he made Ronnie Brewer expendable.
I can see him averaging 16-18 in the starting lineup if Brandon is a no go.

Reading some of these posts I feel like slitting my wrists and seeing who is going to be our Lottery pick. Can we wait for the results and the Extent of Brandon Roy's injury before we trade him to the Meat for a 4th round pick? I think he came back too quick and his knee just did not heal as fast as he thought. I would rather he/we find out now and not game 80 going in the first round of the playoffs. I can see a plus side to this. Roy gets a break, our kids get some playing time, I think we can easily stay above 500 we got too good of a team not too. Joel is coming back within 2 weeks. Greg will be back by January? Let us think positive before we start commiting season ending Hari Kari
