number 8? I'm actually surprised we're that high.  We have gotten off to a very slow start, and probably deserve a little lower ranking.

I guess this goes to everyone who says that Blazers don't get enough national love.

What do you guys think about the rest of the rankings?

Fact is we won some games. We should drop on the next power rankings if we play the way we have been. Being out hustled and out muscled.

Considering we played two back to back games now .. one of which was a road game .. in of all places Staples .. Shows Portland has have by far the defacto hardest schedule so far to date .. And we are leading our division with out our bigs ..

I'm very happy with where we are placed in the Power rankings right now . And I for one think we should stay right bout the same threw out the year.

Personally I think the ranking was too high.
The Blazers have played horrible since the passing of Maurice Lucas.

    Week 1 we went 3-0.
    Week 2 we went 2-3.

Tough schedule or not, we've only played well/good against terrible teams.
The better teams have just dominated us from start to finish.
The loss to OKC was ridiculous, we should've wiped the floor clean with them.
As for the game against the Lakers, that was a straight up EMBARRASSMENT!
I had high hopes coming into this season, and so far I have been let down.
I see Roy pulling a Lebron James on us.

That said, we could be 0-8 right now.
Hopefully our guys step it up...LETS GET IT BLAZERS!

"this is outrageous. i mean really guys, what do we have to do to show the rest of the world that we are so much better than number 8? It is just utterly ridiculous! Almost unfair, we cant shine bright enough! ESPN and its bias rankings anyway. just look at the teams ranked ahead of us, what do they have that we dont? We could smash on those teams, i mean really. They just dont like us because we dont have LeBron or Kobe, or because we dont rake in 100 thousand million dollars every second. Its just horrible what they do to us."

    8's my lucky number

I'm fine with the ranking.  We could be, what is it, 8-0?  But in our three loses, we've played very poorly.  In our 5 wins, we have, in my opinion, went beyond our expectations.  Once Maurice Lucas passed away,  things went a bit downhill for the Blazers, which is completely understandable.

A lot of things can be effected by your emotions, and basketball is one of them, believe me. And also being a relative of a cancer victim, and a friend of one as well, who passed in this year as well, I can say it's not easy dealing with the loss, especially when the person is so young (58 is too young, and my friend went at 18).  But, it is slightly easier to put it behind you and move on once the memorial/service is over with.  Hopefully the Blazers could do the same.

That being said, 8 is pretty generous, especially since the teams above us are playing at very high levels, however when you look at other peoples schedules, compared to ours, I'm very happy we're sitting at 5-3, when it could be 3-5, or 2-6.  The teams we beat aren't exactly the best, but they aren't exactly the worse either (except Toronto perhaps).  They all are playing some good basketball.  Clippers have trouble winning, but they almost beat Utah in double OT, and could have if Gordon didn't go out.  Knicks blewout the Bulls in the same building we had troubles in.  The Bucks are struggling, but they didn't play all that bad against Portland, we just played really good against them.  And look at Phoenix, who may have been degraded, but they aren't a bad team either.

The only thing that annoys me is the loss to the Thunder, and the lack of effort Sunday night, but I can understand that being the circumstances the Blazers were in.  With the Thunder though, it should have been a blowout win for us.  Westbrook is a beast, but Durant is completely overrated who only shot 11-24.  The Blazers slept in that game against a team that gets lots of media attention on National Television. That's never a game you want to sleep on, and the Blazers did when they took a 10+ lead.

I'm fine with being number 8, however,  I think putting the Lakers at 1 is just a bunch of crap.  Boston and Miami have been playing better ball against better teams.  And Dirk offensively fouled Big Baby last night in his "game winner".

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.

Nah, Washington would just sign him themselves, save them a pick. Also, no way JJ is worth a lottery pick. Oladipo would be great, for pretty much any team in the NBA. I don''t think it''s possible to get him though. Should focus on getting a defe...

Jermaine O''Neal, Drazen, Z-Bo, Sheed (I know he was already a star but still). Also Drazen was buried under Drexler and Porter.

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.
