You know what they say..the first game back home after a long road trip is almost like another road game and very difficult to win. The players relax a little and get comfortable sleeping in their own beds, which is all understandable. But we need a win in the worst way over the Thunder to set the tone for the season. I thought when we lost at home to the Nuggets last year, it really set the tone for the season and almost right there, knew we had lost the tiebreaker. So, if you're going to the game, bring the noise because we need to energize our guys for a big win!

    Early Keys-
Make KD work for everything. If he scores, he scores, but at least make him earn it.
Win the rebounding battle- Ibaka has been a terror on the glass and we need LA to keep up his rebounding efforts to win battle on the boards
Don't settle for jump shots- The Thunder are WEAK on the interior and SMALL. I'd love to see Dre work Westbrook in the post and LA take Green. You know they'll double LA, so shooters and cutters be ready to do some damage.

Tiebreaker?  I'm not worried about the Thunder at all.  We beat them 3-1 the previous two seasons and have shown more growth and have gotten better over the years.  I say Portland by 30.  Just contain Durant and you win.  They hardly have any more scoring options.

Not to mention we lost those two games ourselves, the Thunder hardly played a role in it.

All we need to do is throw in Eliot Williams and have him elbow Durant in the nose and then step on and break his ankle. If we stick to that game plan, it will ensure a win. In all seriousness, Batum needs to show up BIG in this game, especially on the defensive end against Durant. Make him WORK for everything. Don't get upset when the foul calls don't go our way because we all know the refs are in love with Durant and give him every little ticky tacky call. I think Dre and the Hammer will play tough D on Westbrook. We will definitely need the crowd to show up HUGE in this game as like most have stated, the first game home after a long road trip is like a road game in itself. Go Blazers!
I am a fan of having a completely healthy team for once.

Well the Thunder, last I saw, were down by 20 with 8 min left in the 4th to the clips... so a back to back with thier tails between thier legs is prime for a good Rose Garden smash. If we come with the intensity we came with in the beginning of the NY Knicks game (I know, the rest of the game was a struggle, but the first 10 minutes were all Blazers) And control the ball we will be fine. Nate needs to leave Batum in there even if he makes a mistake. At 21 he needs all the growing pains and if it needs to be done early in the season against one of the best players in the league, then all the better. LMA needs to do what he did in Chicago, not think, and also what he did in Mil, get his body in there, go after loose balls, bang around. He did that against Bogut, so I know he can go against anyone on OKC.

That being said, this will be a very tough game. The crowd will be hyped, OKC is SLOWLY becoming a semi-rival (Yes, we've beat them more often than not, but isnt there just a little bit more hype with these games lately?) So, like Mark Mason says, YOU'RE THE 6th MAN, and this is OUR HOUSE! So lets do this. I will be watching, Roy jersey on and all. LETS DO IT!
I am a fan of BATUUUUUUUMMMM!!!! BRoy getting the ball more... Matthews, and a good team win!

Make Durant work! Don't let him breathe on offense. He's very turnover prone and is averaging 4 nearly 5 turnovers a game. Also keep Westbrook out of the paint, show him the wall. Once those two are effectively ineffective (haha) that team goes nowhere fast.

Portland should dominate this Okc team.

Keys to this game are rather extremely simple.

    1) - Feed Aldridge. Okc has no one on the team who can stop LMA .. this has proven to be the straw that breaks the back for the Okc every year ..

    2) - Brandon Roy, Get him going after we get LMA going .. and again .. No one in an Okc uni can stop Roy ..

    3) - Many defensive player's many styles of defense against Durant. Toss Batum on him for a quarter then Matthew's .. heck even throw on Armon with his 6'9 wing span on Durant to bother him .. Clog him and cut off all the passing lanes to him.

When you get physical with Durant .. he becomes flustered .. a couple of hard fouls will do the job rather nicely.

Doing the 3 things I just mentioned in the past 2 yrs has given Portland a 6-2 series lead against the Thunder. Not doing them is the only reason the Thunder have won those 2 games ..

This is what I've personally seen in the past 2 yrs against the Thunder.

Batum is the key, he needs to show up big time on D and O.  Make Durant run around tire him out, if Nic becomes tired himself, let Rudy come in and run around, swap Roy onto Durant for D purposes, if he's up to the task.  Camby also being a big might bother Durant enough to force him to shoot outside.  Only thing we have to worry about is Durant shooting out of his mind ala Deng.  Hungry Portland fans ready to see some basketball, crowd won't be a problem as far as noise and support.  Here's to a great win.

OK ZERO fi3ld goals in the OT??????????!!!!!!!!!! Until Armon hits a last second meaningless shot. That is absolutely ridiculous and that is totally on Nate. Why can't this guy come up with at least ONE STUPID unpredictable play for once in his life?!?! It is utterly ridiculous that he can not coach some damn offense when it really matters. I remember last season having a terrible OT record too. I think this is a preview of what's to come in the playoffs as well. No offense when it matters the most.

Also at the end of regulation... what was that?  Nate calls a time out for some game winning play which consists of Brandon taking a highly contested three?!?! All we needed was a two!!! And Brandon was way off in the second half bricking all his jumpers anyway. At least drive in and try to get a foul or throw to someone wide open. That was just garbage.

yeah they handed that game to the thunder on a silver platter.
Agree on the just, horrible, terrible, shot at the end of reg. very dumb.
Portland doesnt have any "closers" maybe Broy, but what about when he's got an off night, and your best big fouls out.

This team is going to waste an entire season, to realize they need a bench, not a prospect list.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
