I understand the team is emotionally flat,
why are we not seeing much Nic while Deng is torching us. Nothing against Matthews D, but switch it up some, what can it hurt at this point ??

I have to watch the replay, I missed the 1st quarter. Imo, whoever was supposed to stop Deng, didn't.  Maybe tired ,flat legs.
With things more important than basketball going on today in Blazer nation, I'm not that worried.
I think coach Lucas would be proud of LA tonight.
My rookie also got a taste of Rose, he does not back down. Liked the fire from the youngsters at the end.
Lets take it to the Bucks ...
    Go Blazers !!!!

Emotionally flat?  I feel like they should have responded EMOTIONALLY CHARGED.  There is NO excuse for not playing.  None.  Standing around taking jumpshots isn't indicative of an entire collection of players, many of whom didn't even know Mo, being in mourning.  This was the first real test for this Blazers team, and if it is to be used as a barometer?  Cho will be busy working the phones.

Idk BDawg, I can't help but think the last day has been extremely hard on Nate. You don't think the team is affected ? Maybe it's because I'm female. For me it's a pass for a game, not an excuse.
But seriolusly why no Nic ? In the 3 guard lineup, who guards the opposing 3 ?

Nate?  Perhaps.  The gentlemen standing around lobbing prayers at the rim all night?  No.  Aldridge showed up, and he has been here as long as anyone, likely having as much of a relationship with Luke as anyone.  Idk.  I hope you are right.  We will see with Milwaukee

Oh Nic was playing, problem is Deng had him on roller skates all night. There was just no answer to Luol Deng tonight.

just one of those nights where Deng was in the zone. He never missed an open j. and for that matter no on else really did for chicago till it was too late. they were shooting 63% well into the third qtr.

This is exactly what I have been saying with Nate. He needs to leave Batum out there!!! Even when he's messing up! He needs to play through it! Now he is going to have a complex again being worried he's gonna be pulled if he has an off night. And how in the world is Nic going to learn to play through this stuff? He hasn't been given the opportunity ONCE in over two years now to figure out how to adjust on the fly like this. Batum needs to be getting at least 30 minutes a night! No matter what! Unless he is in foul trouble. He needs to know we are depending on him every game in every quarter. He is now a core guy just as much as Aldridge and Roy and Nate needs to start treating him like it. Nate really frustrates me sometimes.

Nic wasn't playing because he wasn't getting the job done. No more, no less. He looked lost out on the floor and didn't have his usual effort. All I know is something wasn't right with Batum, because he rarely performs like that. But that is why we have depth and Wesley was more than ready to bring the energy last night.

Idk,  he didn't get much playing time last night either.  Rice has made the comment, " the team is treating Nic like he has a rash or something " .
What gives ? I hope it's not the shoulder.
I understand Wesley needs minutes, but imo, Roy and LA are logging in to many minutes, it could bite us again in the playoffs.  Wesley can't take some of Roys minutes and play with Nic at the 3 ?
I understand " Roy needs the ball more ", but he and LA can't be the only offense the Blazers run if they  want to make it past the first round of the playoffs.

From where I was watching, none of the Blazers got the job done on Deng. I guess I am just not seeing where Nic is not "bringing energy" in either game.

Batum just hasn't put effort in the past 2 games. I don't know if he's tired or what but I just don't much effort in his play.

    Kim-
Hardly anyone was mentally "there" against Chicago. Understandable given the prior circumstances.
We looked sluggish to start the Milwaukee game, but Batum mostly, and Carlos Delfino took advantage, scoring a quick 11 points. I think Delfino scored one more field goal the rest of the way with Matthews and co. defending him. We all love Batum, but something's up, and we need him to break out of it with Durant and Kobe lurking in the distance.

The problem with JJ remains the same at the 4 or 5 he is just not a good enough defender. Milsap and especially Smith are good defenders. The also both offer more on the offensive side than JJ does.

Exactamundo. Seriously though, both of you''ll are right. The blame should be placed on the attacker, not Lillard. That being said, Dame should have stepped in.

I completely agree. Pierce would bring a culture change. And we as a team really needed someone to help our young players through the tough times. Jeffires and Pavlovic were veterans who didn''t see much court time and from what I saw didn''t real...

Joakim Noah has had his injury troubles. His crazy game and high energy make him a constant injury threat. What separates him from Oden and Rose (I had to just mention him) is his willingness to play the way he loves.
