I have been tough on Lamarcus the last couple years. Well so far this year I guess you would assume I'd be even harder on him, his jumper has been very inconsistent, poor free throw shooting, a few bad plays, and he isn't exactly standing out.

But I still need to give credit where credit is due. In spite of all that, he still managed back to back double doubles. There is an obvious decision he has made to be more aggressive on both sides of the court and that's the main thing for me. Lamarcus is being more aggressive going to the hoop when he has the ball, and going after rebounds on both ends. He is definitely still trying to figure out how to fully incorporate his new mindset into his all around game, yet he still put up those double doubles. And he doesn't seem to be even close to being in a rhythm yet.
The biggest thing is, I really hope he does not get discouraged too soon about his new outlook. It's always difficult to learn and adjust on the fly but I think it will pay off soon and we all will start to see the benefits as soon as these new things become second nature to him.
I also can't help but to think some credit goes to Buck Williams for working with our bigs as well.
Keep on it Lamarcus and I'll be a huge supporter!

I'm with you as well Tom. I'd really like to see him try to score in the post a little more and I know he's been working on that. I think he could be a better rebounder though, he's added the muscle over the offseason to be someone who grabs 12+ boards a night. I do like his quick hands on the defensive side of the court though, he usually does a pretty solid job of not letting other power forwards have a crazy good game against us.

I think he's right on we're he needs to be as far as rebounds go, avg 9.7 per game as of now. He just needs to get a little more comfortable with his "new game". As far as being an All-Star goes, I could see it happening. Regardless of his shooting percentage, the last 2 games he's dropped 19 & 20 pts, back-2-back double doubles. I could see it happening, he'll shake the rust and adapt to his new game here in a month or so, and look for him to explode. I see a huge improvement compared to the beginning of last year.

I am finding myself in agreement with all of you.  Spot on Tom.  The adjustment you speak of will come, hopefully sooner rather than later.  Bertram is speaking my language as well.  Added post presence without forgetting the touch from the perimeter.  LaMarcus spoke of working on his leg and core strength at the FanFest, things that I had been pushing for.  Dividends are beginning to pay off for him, though it is early.

That said, what I haven't read yet on this thread, is just how LA's role will change when Joel, and more impactfully...Greg, return to the line-up.  Camby isn't necessarily an interior threat at the offensive end, lending an opportunity (if not need) for LA to be that post presence for this team.  Will be interesting to see where Aldridge's game evolves with Oden back, and just as interesting to see how Nate uses the two in a way condusive to maximizing their strengths.

Love the work 12!  Keep it up!

He just has to find his shot again, he's added all that muscle so he just has to find it again, but he knows its not there and he's doing what he has to for the team to get the win, that's what you expect from an allstar, the only thing i'd ask of him if I were the coach was to continue trying to keep that mindset of quick smart passes when they double team him before he can get into his sweet spot.

LA could add as much muscle as he wants. The fact of the matter is; LA's game has never been an in-side muscle house. He has been a post up player.

No we're not. Greg can come back when he can, if Aldridge can be a deep post presence and a perimeter shooter as well, Oden wont need as many touches in our offense and can just concentrate on the D.

Ohhh you are so sly. I thought mind games were for kids. You mentioned Oden, just not by name. What other big would we be worrying about right now? Or in other words, what other big do you bash on at least 2 or 3 times a day somewhere somehow saying the same exact thing over and over again? And again?
And congratulations, you turned another thread into an Oden discussion again.

Wow I am glad Lamarcus played so well. Too bad no one else did. I can't help but think though that they had heavy hearts, I think every one of our starters had some sort of a relationship with big Luke (except maybe Camby). I mean I didn't even know Maurice personally and have never met him, but I still felt sad yesterday. Sometimes you are reminded that it's just a game.

Kim, you said we are worrying about the wrong Blazer big man. Who are you referring to in regards to who we should be worrying about? And I don't see how you guys talking about LA for four years has anything to do with my topic. All I am trying to do is show my support for Lamarcus, something I have not done in 2 or 3 years. I am trying to give him credit, not to tell every one they should be concerned. That is all.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't think it was that great of a game by LA. He had multiple opportunities to spin away from the defense and get an easy two, yet he decided to turn into the teeth of it and force contested fadeaway shots. Sure, they went down, but the degree of difficulty on those shots was high and they won't drop at a regular clip. Also, why won't the man DUNK?! Quit, laying it up close to the rim! Send a message and throw it down with some authority. His game just screams uninspiring to me. He has all the talent in the world, but I don't think he has that "it" factor that B-Roy has.

I did like it when he took Noah to the hole in the 2nd half for the easy layin, but I need to see that on a more consistent basis. We need easy buckets and he has the physical attributes to get those for us. C'mon LA, we need you!

@Tom: could we please worry about Fabricio (another big). seriously, i think he needs to change the oil in his hair -- i'm quite sure he is the one to whom Kim is referring!

@ClydeFrog: last night, LaMarcus was our offense about mid-way through the second quarter, i told my friend that. i believe i said exactly: "get the ball to LaMarcus and let him work; that's our only play right now." he has to have the inside-outside game to keep defenses honest. i was very pleased with his balance, and his ability to draw fouls and get to the line.

LA can be an allstar this year in the west whos better besides DIrk, Pau, theres no Amare anymore i think he can take 3rd spot he gotta work on his left and right hook shot and if he can ever get that running hook down with either hand he will be unstoppable.

Pau is playing Center for the Lakers ..

Dirk is the only other PF out west with any real talent ..

Which leaves 1 spot now open .. for another PF ..

And wouldn't it be nice for ONE year we had Brandon Roy playing like an All Star, and Lamarcus playing like an All Star like he is so far this season and Greg Oden playing like an All Star!?!?! Instead of just one of the three. Hell I would even take two of the three for one year!!!

If only the NBA were strict in defining the players position, but as we know they don't do that. Lamarcus is going to still have to play as well or outplay Dirk, Tim Duncan, Yao Ming, Blake Griffin, Lamar Odom and Pau because who knows how they will register for the All Star game (except we know Yao will be a center)

I disagree with the notion he didnt have a great game but you make valid points LA seems to be playing conscious of the labels ppl have thrown at him and his attempting to go stronger in the paint.  One thing that confuses me is that he is a master at the spin off o opp in the post but never attempt the spin when posting up in the paint he needs to work on that off hand dribbling and this could be a serious weapon with his length.  Also he needs to work on a lefty hook shot because the opponents know he is goin up with his right and turning over his left shoulder.  LA is in a position where he can solidify himself as option 1B if Roy is 1A

My point was he would play decent and then have flashes of being great. He can do the things I was mad at that he didn't do. And now he is proving that he can because he is doing it, consistently. I wasn't even expecting his offense to become so aggressive in going strong to the hole at times, but I wanted him to at least try to rebound more because I've seen him do it for a few games here and there. But it seems he has been working mentally on going to the basket when he has the ball (mixing it up with his J) and he is also going for rebounds. That makes me happy! ha ha Now if we could just get him to play like that when Brandon is healthy...
