So if the 0-2 Jazz go into OKC and beat the thunder, will that make the national media finally give the 3-0 blazers some credibility?  The national media shows the losing teams highlights more than our team's highlights so far in our games, is that because it's new faces in new places or are we just getting the shaft?

Probably not, its still really early into the season so it's gotta be something unexpected to get play (say, the Nets winning their first 2 games...) Plus, Portland isn't a flashy team we had to grind out the last two wins, not pretty but a win is a win.

Utah opens the season rough with @DEN, PHX (really should of won that one at home), and @OKC.
Its a good test for OKC playing a division rival, Utah keeps playing the way they have OKC will win that game.
OKC roughed up CHI opening night so we shall see how Portland fairs with the Boozer-less Bulls.

Portland's really big game comes Thurs. when OKC comes to town. We'll see who's the legit team then.
The OKC Hype Train has left the station, it's Portland job to derail it.

Who needs all the attention? Just keep on winning. I don't care if we never get a single highlight on sportscenter as long as we win the Northwest. But at the same time as we win the media love will come. They follow the hot team, and as much as I hate to say it the Thunder are the NBA's most exciting team to watch, and are really REALLY good. We will need to be at our best all season to compete with them for the divisonal title. I think we have a great shot, and I'm excited to see how it all plays out. Should be some very exciting basketball over the next few months!

No if the Jazz beat the Thunder they will talk about what the Thunder did to lose it, and if they win they will talk about what they did to win it.

I totally agree, I mean this has been going on for years and years and it's not going to change just because we beat the Thunder on our home court. If we win they will call it a fluke and like I said they will talk about how the Thunder lost it.
I remember even our 89-92 teams that went to the Finals twice didn't even get respect or media acceptance. So why would we think that beating the Thunder would be any different? They basically focus on whatever big market teams are doing good or teams with a big market player like Durant.

During the Thunder - Chicago game the other day they were basically having top players around the league sell you on Durant with these little interviews talking about how great Durant is. It was utterly ridiculous, like a public service announcement to let you know how good Kevin Durant is. They are investing a lot of money into him now, and we do not stand a chance against that. I do not watch ESPN any more because they are so blatantly biased towards the Lakers and Lebron. This year I'm sure they are trying to make Durant take Lebrons place as their little darling since every one hates Lebron now.

Texanblazer I meant I totally agree about the who cares part! Not when you say they follow the hot team and the most exciting team the Tinder! We have won more games than them so technically we are hotter. I don't even think they are the most exciting team to watch! Except I always like watching Westbrook clang dunks off the back of the rim at least once every game. I bet he averages 1.5 failed dunk attempts per game.

And I just saw this small article on yahoo about the Blazers chances this year. Not too bad, had some nice things to say about Roy and Batum.

Haha yea man I understand. I just meant that most view them as a run and gun dunk all over you block team that ignorant fans love to watch. Durant is a great player as is Westbrook (he might try a little to hard for posters sometimes) and ESPN has picked them to be the team of the future...even though I think we are the better overall team. And most uninformed fans at the start of the season would expect the Thunder to have a better record than the Blazers...Is it right? Not at all. But there's only one thing we can do to become THE premier team, and that's to win...to show the world that we are better than them.

It's not that we need attention It's just seems that there is such a bias against the Blazers. The Blazers are a much deeper and more mature team than OKC and I get tired of all the BS about how great they are. I just hope for his sake that oden comes back and gets to stay healthy and then we will see which guy takes his team to the Championship. Won't be Durant.

It's because the brand of basketball we play is boring and fundamental. The team completely mirrors it's leader Brandon Roy. Does nothing flashy but sticks to fundamentals and extremely effective. We don't poster people often, we don't throw alley-oop dunks very often, we also don't fast break that often. But what will happen is we will win games VERY often. Northwest division? We have a very good chance at it.

I wonder if anyone but me is pissed about how easy the Lakers early schedule is, and it was the same last year. Does the NBA really think no one notices that stuff. They give the Lakers a leg up and then they can coast to the playoffs. If I wasn't such a Blazer fan, I wouldn't even watch the NBA, the worst officiating in all of sports.

How pathetic. Do you guys really need the Television to tell you how good your team is?
You guys are whining about the team not being on Espn or what not, i mean why?
Half of ya tarnish anything that espn says, you call them bais, stupid.... so why would they put you on the news anyway? And granted if they even did make the news, the things they say would probably still wouldn't satisfy your need for acceptance.
But you want to talk about Bias? hahahah.
Look at some of the thing some of you say, even if you dont mean it, its still Ridiculous. I mean i get the whole "BLazer Nation" but "blazer ideology" thats another thing. Any attempt to analyze the team is taken as a personal attack, i mean you cant take criticisim without huffin and puffin and fflexin your big blazer muscles.
Anyone who questions this team is persecuted for being accused as a laker fan, or someone who likes LeBron james, is automatically a heat fan. WTH is that about? You gotta show respect before you earn it. Everyone and everyteam is just a joke to you guys?
    Saying things like
I just meant that most view them as a run and gun dunk all over you block team that ignorant fans love to watch

i mean what the hell is that supposed to mean? Ignorant fans? hahaha. how?
Because the team was unstoppable, because thats what people like to see these days, huge dunks?
If they score most of their points on fast breaks, why criticize them? Shouldn't you say something about their opponents defense?
The league is talking about Durant and westbrook, for damn good reasons, these guys not only showed up the whole league last year, but they conquered half the world at Fiba, UNDEFEATED.
Durant has been in the game for 2, 3 years and he is already getting 30 a game?
The question shouldnt be, "why are we still talking about him?"
The proper question is"why havent we done anything to stop him?"
The blazers dont have anything special, they have had Roy for a while, but he hasnt been makin any big moves here in portland, this year looks similar to last year, and last year similar to the one before it?
I mean give them something to talk about. Tom's wishin they signed A.I right about now, so his team can get their 10 minuets of fame.
Bertam nailed it on the head,

they dont play any special way, they play basketball like your taught in school, and who wants to watch a team that plays like a high school gym class? Would you?
I mean you guys are so deep into your blazers that your missing why your being treated the way you are, even if i am the dumbest, least knowledgeable basketball person on here, i still know why the blazers arent " a hot team"

Just be Fans, because thats all you can do. Just respect the other teams, respect other players, dont attack everything that walks into your front door. If your team wins, be happy, because no one else cares except your fan base, and why should anyone.
Do you really want to be talked about as much as OKC? Would you like people in other NBA forums to just diss and rip your team apart? Like them to say things that are just completly retarded and untrue?
If thats what your looking for, then your not in it for the basketball, im sorry but thats the bottom line.

We are always going to be mostly under the radar with the occasional love until we win a playoff series or play against the Lakers and either beat them or go 7 games with them. Just the way it works.

^ very true. We have a good team, but we need to go somewhere with it. It also doesn't help (national attention) when our superstar is a quite, and relaxed player. Teams like the Lakers, Heat, Boston, and Orlando are so nationally recognized because they all went to the finals and are very good teams, but also because they do crazy things during their games. Rondo, gets everyone invited and consistently makes the highlight real. Howard is a great blocker and can dunk very well, something fans like to see. Bryant is always intense and plays with such passion. Wade, LeBron, and Bosh are superstars that every fan knows. I am not sure very many people outside Portland) know our starting 5 and even care.
