With the win in the Big Apple tonight the Blazers have a 3-0 win-loss record for the first time since the 1999-2000 N.B.A season.  The next game is on Monday in the Windy City versus the Chicago Bulls.  Portland has a chance of having their first 4-0 start, which, ironically, was also during the 1999-2000 season.

The Blazers of this era might have a chance to be a part of Blazers history.  Let's go all the way back to the 1979-1980 season.  Portland began that season with a bang, with a 9-0 record to begin the season.  The last three of those games, Portland won by a margin of 3 points or less.  They had a chance of going 10-0, however, they lost by 1 point to the Phoenix Suns.  Next came the 1981-1982 season.  Portland's record to begin the season was 7-0.  The Blazers best start in franchise history came twenty years ago.  The 1990-1991 season kicked off with the Blazers having an 11-0 record.  In the 1992-1993 season came another big start for the Blazers.  The record that season was 8-0.

Back to this season, with the Blazers 3-0 record and a fourth on the horizon, can this squad battle it out and add a new chapter of history for the franchise?  A wild prediction, I know, but it's happened before so it can definitely happen again.  What do you think Rip City?

We have the depth, but once we go against a big team I don't think we can pull it off, at least at this point, Camby is great, but old, Oberto is good, but Howard and a bunch of other big men are wayyyy better. Teams will be able to pick us apart on the frontcourt.

I agree that we have the depth.  This is a new Blazer team, and I'm going to give them credit where it's due, I believe they can pull it off.  A 4-0 start for the first time in 10 years alone would be very cool in my eyes, not to mention I'm sure it would psych up the team and get them playing harder.  It could happen.

It could happen especially with Joel coming back as soon as the Chicago game and Greg following shortly there after. But, I am not as happy about great beginnings as I am great finishes so I would rather see a repeat of our championship year.

That is not irony! Sorry, a pet peeve of mine. And I think you meant the first time since 1999.

I remember those 91 and 92 season starts, but really I don't care as much about the start, i care about making the playoffs and hopefully winning at least 2 rounds this year. Maybe with a decent trade we could even have a chance at playing an Eastern Conference team in the playoffs.

Same here.  Do you believe the Blazers can improve to 4-0?

Agreed with Joel and Greg coming back will add lots of help, especially on the boards.  Not to mention with those two back in the lineup, everyone else should start to find themselves wide open more.  I also agree, about not only starting strong but finishing strong as well.  It is funny to me that when they had their first 9-0 start, 38 wins was enough to get them into the playoffs in the Western Conference.  These days that could only happen in the East.

it's a great start to the season. we'll have Joel as soon as chicago and i'd say no later than okc at the garden (sure, he cut his thumb, but that was going up for a block in practice -- and he says he's ready!). Greg is probably about three- to four-weeks behind (base on the fact he began five-on-five practices three weeks after Joel). any lack of depth up front is about to become nonexistent. i'm not going to project or predict anything here, but i've felt since the summer that the sky's the limit for this year's team.

I've done told Paul Allen I'd come fill the 1 spot...For some reason he don't believe I'd make Deron Williams look like a clown like I said. Shoot the NBA's lucky I had a kid at 15 otherwise I'd be tearing the floorboards out the Staples center with my cross-over lol.

    I''d trade for Asik.

Jeremy Lamb? I definitely think he was buried in OKC''s bench, so i don''t know how good he really is. I know he is amazing in 2K though.

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.
