After reading Casey's blog about Camby last night, it makes you realize that Camby's impact goes much deeper than just the stat line. We started out sluggish and un-aggressive, yet it was Marcus who put the onus on him to score the ball and get to the rim, which he did for our first six points. If that wasn't enough, it was he who kick started the vaunted Blazers defense with incredible rejections by way of pinning them against the glass or sending a message with a rejection into the third row. He, just like Dre, are the vets we have so desperately been seeking and we saw just the tip of the iceberg last year when he came over at the deadline, but a full year of Camby? That could be all we need to get out of the first round.

Isn't it interesting the controlled enthusiasm he had on the court last night. He noticed what his team was struggling in and picked up the slack in those areas!

I'm very excited to see Camby unfold his bag of tricks this season. KEEP IT GOING BLAZERS!

Thats like asking if water is important to a fish.

Right now Camby is exactly what we need. Everyone knows we are missing our big guys, so he fills that spot. And not only does he fill that spot with his skills but he also gives the still very young Blazers a true vet. Not this 3-4 season vet nonsense we keep hearing about. But an actual veteran. Someone who has been around the league and knows the tricks of the trade. And even more then that he loves helping out the team and the rookies...unlike some vets...

I appreciate Camby's game more now that he's a vet (and a Blazer) then I did when he was younger.
Something the young players and the rookies can experience and try to incorporate that into their game.

Filling the stat sheet every night isn't the only way to help your team win ball games.
It makes the return of Joel even more exciting. Both guys are fearless, blue collar workers, and will leave everything they have out on the court every night. While Camby will fill the stat sheet more both will leave their mark in every game they play.

I got to see last nights game via DVR after work. TNT cut into the game after the slow start so I missed the first few minutes. The first half was amazing some really good basketball. The second half saw the Blazers in the typical 3rd quarter slump.Camby kept us in the game with his defense and Mr. Miller who I thought showed his age most of the second half had 2 plays in which I think were tide turners the first was the pass to LA in which put L.A. on the line and gave him the boost he needed and the timely pump fake which put him on the line. I saw more cohesion last night than I have in a long time. I think the rest of the league just might be in trouble

I feel that the cohesion is going to get a lot better really soon. Not only does it seem like Nate is trying to get everyone playing time but hes also trying to find our best starting 5 and backup groups. When he gets that figured out people will feel more comfortable in there spots. And the more games we play the more practice they get! Its a good year to be a Blazer fan.

As long as Camby sticks around, I think this team will be ok. Marcus really is a sort of glue for this team. Whenever he is on the floor, the team just does better, especially in the rebounding department.

Marcus is puting it up on in the boxscore and the intangables. he's playing like he's 30, rather than 36. maybe we want to see him play a few fewer minutes as the season goes along, but the returns of Joel and Greg should take care of that.

i know it's only two games but he has two double-doubles, four blocked shots and has outplayed opposing centers on both ends of the court. Marcus brings a lot to the team that we don't see. he is invaluable to the blazers.

Idk, Camby has effort and experience, last night, do you think he just randomly felt like hustling like a dog?
Or do you think he knows, from exp, that on opening night, a big performance like that, boosts way more than just the score? it helps the team, and apparently the fans.
With Joel and Oden back on the floor,  there is no way youre going to get that effort, these guys arnt going to be able to move around the court like that, not with their knee's.
If anything they are going to slow down the pace of the offense, and last night, the Blazers controlled that whole game.

Camby is priceless, but we can't run him into the ground all seaon holding down the center.
Imo Tay, you cant even compare Oden and Pryz with their knee injuries & effort.
Pryz is fearless, with huge heart, and we will always see the effort from Camby and Pryz.
Jury is still out on Oden with me. Watching Griffin last night did't help......

I agree with you on Oden. If he goes down with another serious injury his time here is kaput.

perhaps its just been so long since ive seen him play. :)
It was just so surpirising to see camby do the things he did last night, and if continued then it would be hard to find a reason to take him out of the lineup.

Was Camby playing Center against LAC, because i swear Aldridge was

Just think about if we had never traded for Camby.  If we hadnt picked him up we might be starting Fabracio Oberto at center for the first month of this season.  I think at least for the time being, he is the most important player on the entire team.

Our team is just going to be a scary defensively when our two other centers come back healthy and strong. Just scary.

Seeing Blake Griffin play like that against most probably 1 of the top 3 defense's in the league. He plays with no fear....until his next injury.... I think he might slow down then. Until that time though great hustle by him if the rest of the team could get on track Clippers are going to have a tough team. He still needs bolts in his neck.

I dont know about Top 3.... maybe top 10, but there's  no way i can see it as top 3.

    i agree with this though.
