If you read the sports page in the Oregonian today John Canzano wrote about how stupid it was to let the Blazers walk down from the stands when being announced at the season opener…

Being there last night at an aisle seat I loved it!  Heck everyone around me loved it!  I hope they keep this tradition going for years to come.
    *
He quoted Andre stating that he was tired after walking down those steps…

Ahhhh – he’s a professional athlete, he was joking… I went up and down those steps 5 times to get beers and I wasn’t tired.

*He eluded that Canby had problems making it past the fans having to raise his arms in the air like he was getting mauled...
He brought a human aspect to the game by being close to the crowd I can tell you kids were excited and made fans for life.  Also, if someone would harm any Blazer the fans around him would take that person out.

Canzano thought of Oden and Thrilla Pryzbilla and the risk of getting injured walking down the steps…
There probably running with scissors right now… Stairs Canzano Stairs

Those stairs are steep, I almost fall down all the time at the Rose Garden.

He used it as an analogy more than an actual concern. Read the article closer. I found it funny. But I agree with him...really? Stairs with these guys?

I read it several times before posting my little rant and each time I read it I heard his winy voice get louder and louder in my head.  I might find it easier to absorb his salty sports writer analogy/style if he wasn’t trying to be this tough guy on the radio.

Those steps at the 100 level are not that steep – quit buying the packages at the 300 level  4 seats and 4 hot dogs for 48 bucks… lol just kidding.  Literally even after the 5th Widmer I had no problems going up down those steps.

5 widmers at the garden? Eff that haha! That's too much dough right there. I guess his style of writing just doesn't appeal to you then.

I agree. He is trying to be a tough guy on the radio. He also tries to make big stories out of nothing and blows things out of proportion. He also likes to try to predict things so in case they come true he can say "I told you so". Except they hardly ever do. Like last year when he said "Andre Miller will NEVER fit in with the Blazers". ha! Except we won 50 games thanks in major part to Dre. He says stupid things that are obvious so people think WOW he knows what he's talking about, but if you look into it, he is flat out wrong. Just like Gavin Dawson. Both those guys are morons. They both act like they are tough but in reality all they do is kick people when they are down or when it is PC.

But last year I remember thinking it maybe is not the best idea to walk down those steps, but they only do it for opening night so it's not as bad, especially when there are tons of uncoordinated people before they even start drinking go up and down those after drinking without incident. Canzano is trying to play on the emotions we have about Oden's fragility and the teams recent injury bug to make a big deal out of nothing again.

I was going to say, you are better off going to the Stanford's at Lloyd, hit the bar there before going to the game if you want some pre-funk before the game.

Nice call!  That's what I did opening night!  You should be getn PAID for plugs like that homie!

I haven't bothered to read the article. but personally...I almost think it irresponsible that a team that battled unprecedented injuries last season be the ONLY team on opening night that has their players navigate those steep little stairs before the game.  Remember, our players have a SLIGHTLY larger shoe size than do most of us, thus the "little stairs" description.  Would go further and assume that our one and only dressed center may have the biggest feet.  JMO.  The Blazers were also out amongst their fan base before the game, walking the LEVEL concourse.  That would have been sufficient if you ask me...and, nobody did :)

I am a fan of players that play with PASSION and PRIDE

I do not come back to his show or his garbage. I never read his crap anymore. I only read the article on Dre last year because someone called him out on some blog with that article, then showed an article like 4 months later where he praised Andre Miller for fitting in. I do however like to read this occasionally.

Canzano is like the Travis Outlaw of writers. Inconsistent but can hit the big ones from time to time.

My favorite writer for NBA stuff is Marc Spears. I also like Mark Jackson's input on a lot of topics.

Marc Spears seems pretty even keel. I am sick of Adrian Wojanwhatever. He is another guy that kicks people when they are down or when it's p.c. Even Jason Quick does that garbage.

You''re right. They should dump Monta though. I was thinking maybe the Rockets could use the number 1 pick to get the lakers to do a sign and trade for D12.
