I'm looking forward to this road trip to see how we fare against some quality competition early on. I think it's imperative to get off to a good start and hit the ground rolling this season, which will take a lot less pressure off of Joel and Greg.

I do think it will be a tough hill to climb tonight. Not only is it hard enough to win on someone else''s home floor in the NBA, but it is their opening night AND we are on the second half of a back to back.

Can we pull this one out? Most definitely. But, we need to bring the energy. Like I said, this is their home opener, so they'll be juiced. Insert Armon and Wesley. If those two can get into the paint, disrupt their offensive flow, and increase the lead when they are on the floor, we've got a chance!

If we can surive the emotinal run in the first quarter because it is their home opener and keep the game close than were in good shape plus it's on ESPN so they don't what to be embaressesd on their home floor on national TV. Energy, Rebounding, good start in the first and third quarters and try to slow down Chris Kamen because this guy is ready for anouther breakout year, chase Eric Gordan And Rasual Butler off the three point line, try to keep Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Craig Smith And Ryan Gomes off the offense glass, but thing that most inportant is energy because if we have that everything elsewill take care of itself.

Possible they could come back home 5-0, two home openers changes things the fans and players will be pumped just like we were last night for our home opener.

No Boozer for CHI and probably no Bogut for MIL helps our chances for those games.

Will be looking for that aggressive D that showed up late game to be constant from start to finish.

Blake will go for every pump fake we throw at him. His athleticism is freakish, but i think that might work against him. He looked decent in preseason. Portland 101-94

Lamarcus needs to have a much better game tonight. Griffin averaged a double double in pre season so LA needs to step up. And Batum needs to play more minutes and continue to go after the boards!!

Aldridge should have a bounce back game tonight, Gentry really had it out to stop the L-Train at all costs last night seeing the Suns are weak at PF.
Not to say he won't see some doubles (If I was Vinny I would start with it and see how he reacts) but we'll see.

If Batum can give us a double-double with 27 minutes of playing time I'm totally fine giving other players some minutes.

Not me, I think the longer Nic plays the better he gets. It seems he starts to get in a rhythm and nate pulls him. I just want to see him play 35 minutes in a game ONCE! But hopefully he could get at least 30. He was playing so good in the first quarter yesterday on D and getting offensive boards and then Nate pulls him! "Here we go again" I thought.

The same overall effort tonight as last = loss.  Jordan will put up some numbers on P'Town tonight.  Camby on a back to back after 30 = PT for newcomer Oberto.  Matthews will have a big game and be key.  Looking forward to seeing our team in action again!  Will be looking for more movement off the ball, especially from Brandon.  Would like to see some ball reversals as well.  Go Blazers!!!!

DeAndre Jordan, that Clipper is a thorn in our side. Now he's got help with Blake Griffin. If the LA guards can open things up with perimeter shooting, tonight's game will be very interesting. Rebounding won't be plentiful like last night against the Suns. If P-Town can control the board, stretch the floor, and make nice interior passes again, we'll dull the Lakers "B" team, oh sorry, I meant the Clippers.

It's all going to come down to the boards again tonight. Whoever wins this battle and can shoot a good percentage will win. It seems obvious but easier said than done when the opposing team has Kaman and Griffin healthy. Not to mention Boom Dizzle attacks the boards pretty well for a PG.

This is an important game because I believe they can make the West playoffs this year and will be 7th or 8th seed meaning if we land #2 like some are predicting we might see them in round 1.

8-11 for free throws that is not the way to win games they need to get way more aggressive on teams that rely on their bigs so much.  Clippers 15-24 FT they are doing good job drawing fouls and trying to get LA, Dante and Camby out of the game.

    Welcome to the boards Wildcat!

I really like how our defense stifled them down the stretch.; the zone really threw them for a loop. Outside of a few Rudy 3's, the bench was off, but luckily Camby, Roy, and Dre were up for the challenge. Its really amazing how good we look with most of our guys healthy!

    Thank you for the welcome

The end of the game defense was much better than throughout the earlier part of the game.  They really need to work on getting back on the transition "d" though, and, Wesley Matthews should have not taken so many desperate-looking shots.

TomL- I don't have exact numbers but we had some awesome conversations going. You should definitely come check it out. We'll be back up next Saturday when we take on the Knicks.

Wildcat- Thanks for the welcome! I'm having a blast :) I don't think you can babble too much in a chat, it keeps things moving. I think Wes is coming off a preseason where he was very effective, and still feeling out his place and chemistry with the team. This whole game was a little odd to watch, I saw more wild shots and loose passes than usual. A bit sloppy overall.

Yea, Wesley had to beat the shot clock quite a few times.

But if I'm a Clippers fan..I'm stoked. Gordon and Griffin look like they could be franchise players, but they do need to get rid of Baron. The game just bogs down for them when he plays. I still think Wall will be ROY but Blake is the next great big man in the NBA.

True that babbling does keep things moving in the chat haha

Agreeing that the game was sloppy and odd to watch, but at the end of the day, a win, is a win, and Wesley and everyone else still has their whole career ahead of them to work on their game :)

Brandon played much better tonight. He looked like he was into it and was moving to get the ball and drove to the basket often. Even though he only scored 4 points in the 2nd half I liked what I saw from him. BATUM GOT 32 MINUTES TONIGHT!!!! That is great. He had an amazing block on Gordon too! Lamarcus getting a double double is great as well. He played hard against Blake and he did hard fouls, that was nice. Camby was his usual defensive self. I love those blocks he does when it looks like he just slapped you. (moderator edit for swearing) ha ha. But Andre was player of the game for seizing control of our offense and making it run much smoother. If everyone would take off their "lack of jumpshot" goggles they would see what a good pg he is. He disrupts the d, gets high % buckets at the rim, has great court vision and passes it to the right person most of the time. He played well with Brandon tonight because Brandon put forth the effort. Tonight Dre was +19.

But like I said MVP (in this case most valuable person) goes to Nate. He made a great move in the fourth quarter by going to the zone, that got us the win. I'm usually hard on Nate, but tonight I'll give him the credit he deserves.

hahha. you really cant leave me alone can ya?
No it was just purple. you know, the color. Ive already said that i am not a laker fan, so i dont get it?
YOure just a hater. kinda like Kobe, hmm odd.

    Now enough childs play......
What i saw at the game, was ..... at times atrocious.
The Bad. I saw the Blazers lagging when it came to getting the ball up before the buzzer, gotta keep that 24 in mind.
I saw LaMarcus aldridge, trying to force almost every shot, he even missed his Wide open J, key words there would be WIDE and OPEN.
I saw almost no production off the bench, wesley appeared to be nervous, and he struggled the entire time he was in.
And FOULS!!!!! not trippin about the technicals they were handing out early for Halloween, but just fouls, over the limit man.
    No patty, sad face.

    The good.
Marcus Camby, boom, started off with the first 3 baskets. He was active at all times on the floor, moving around constantly, very effective.
I saw miller, shut me up for abit, dre was workin em pretty good, he had the best crossover of that game, made some nice shots, might of forced a couple but when it goes in no ones complaining.
Aldridge did have some nice post moves, but forced the shot too much, but the moves, a decent upgrade.
BRoy, cheering for him all game, man did he come to play or what, he was all over the ball on offense or defense, it was pretty intense to see. If he plays every game like that, come next year " They'll be sayin Michael Who?"
Rudy, was strokin it from downtown during both warmups, he was soo hot, and you could see it in the game, how he wanted to take the shot, he was really feelin it.
And last but not least. Batum, what can i say, if they give him more touches, they can expect more W's. He's got the perfect game for SF, inside, outside, i was waitin for him to put someone on a poster. But, strokin the 3, very nice.

As for the matchup itself, Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin, could of came out there, just them 2, and i think the score would of been almost the same.
Butler had some 3's, but the Blazers just had No Answers for Gordon and Griffin. I think there was a fat block on Eric, but Griffin man, all over the place.
He was tippin the ball up and over each side of the basket, and how bout that 18 ft jumper, that could turn into something nice.
But overall good game, good job trailblazers.
