Goodbye Jarred Bayless.

Living down in Camp Pendleton Ca has many draw-backs with being a Portland Trail Blazers Fan! However, I do what I can to stay current with the Blazers, generally meaning, I get my team info from the Blazers fan-site and my father back in Portland. Recently I learned of Portland’s trading of J. Bayless to the New Orleans Hornets, and I could not fully express the depth of my sadness and shock. While I fully understand the disappointment of fans and front office in the last 3 (all-be-it) short seasons, we have not, by any means, seen the extent of talent Jarred Bayless has to offer. This is a young man who has more up-side then 99% of the 1st round selections in any given draft. Is he a Kevin Durrant? No, but then we never expected him to be such. We, “as Blazer Fans” expected a solid PG to take the rains from Roy and be the one to distribute the ball (to the likes of Roy and Aldridge) and score a fair amount of points, as to facilitate the talent the Blazers have in the rest of the starting lineup. Yet, somehow we expected Bayless to be a top 10 PG in his first 3 seasons, as did the front office (ala Greg Oden at center). Yet if we are honest with ourselves as fans and supporters, we cannot expect top tier play from our up-and-coming players in such a short and timely manner. Even the greatest player of the day, Michael Jordan, took a few years to develop into the greatest player in NBA history. Am I saying Bayless is the greatest PG in NBA history? Not by any means. Am I saying he could develop into such a figure with the god-given talent he has? Absolutely! That young man has more talent then you will see in the next 5 or 6 NBA drafts at his given position and all he was asking for, as a player was the honest chance to show that talent. Yet in our impatience for the title we were not willing to give this young man the chance. I, in my heart of hearts believe this was the biggest mistake we have made as a team since the Bouy/Jordan decision. Could we be the team known as Roy and Durant right now? Yes, of course we could, however Roy/Bayless was our true answer, we were just too impatient as a franchise to realize the opportunity we had. Instead we traded away a talent, that I guarantee you will be one of the best in his positions as any will in the next 25 years. The sheer energy, enthusiasm and heart that Jbayless brings to his team can not be measured in 3 years of backup play, but must be ultimately measured in contributing factors. Yet we decided to put our hopes in a “out of his prime PG from Philly who has not “lead” his team to more then a divisional best performance. What we needed was a PG who could lead us to a CHAMPIONSHIP in his prime years, and could take the pressure off our greatest talents, aka Roy, Aldridge and Oden and still shine at his given position. Jbayless was that talent, and we squandered it as quickly as possible to get a chance at a “championship team” as soon as possible. Personally, I would take a GREAT team lead by the likes of Bayless, Roy, Aldridge and Oden, for the next 5 to 10 years, as compared to an average streaky team of Miller, Roy and Aldridge and fill-in-the-center. Jbayless was the future of our franchise at the PG position and now we will be subjected to watching his rise with just one thing to say, DAMN, what did we miss?

Good luck Jarred, I really hope I am wrong and we have our future at PG well in hand, I just won’t be holding my breath about it.

I am a fan of Blazer Nation since I was born and will remain so until time ends. Blazer Power!

I think he's going to flourish in New Orleans. He just needs playing time in my opinion.

i was devastated to hear about Jerryd Bayless' trade to the hornets. I've really enjoyed watching him flourish as an amazing pointguard and his increasing ability to compliment our players without constantly fouling out. Though at the end of the day i have to realize that trades means life experience and i hope for the best for our Bayless and i'm happy to know he's off with our Monte Williams, hopefully deep down they still represent a little blazer love for their old p-town fans!

Listen, it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair to the NBA. We were holding Jerryd back. More fans in the world need to learn how great of a player and person he is. Hopefully he will get lotsa opportunities in New Orleans to showcase his skillset.

Siccolo, high five. You know who I don''t hate, Lebron James. I really like the guy. My opinion he is the best player ever, and he really just a decent guy. He used to be a bit bratty, but he''s older now, much more nice guy.

I loved watching Barton this season. He avg  16.3 points (on 47 percent shooting), 7.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 steals in 37.1 minutes in the last 6 games.

TBH I forgot about Barton since NO ONE talked about him in our plans. I ac...

if we still get 10th pick. i would look at mccollum, shabazz, pope, dieng, gobert, and franklin. the best choice would be shabazz or franklin. shabazz would be a deadly 3 pointer when team are not covering him. franklin would be nice but i never rese...

I don''t mind rosters, they are good. Shows that our fans aren''t stupid. But try to have some consistency. You change them too much.

joint option for year three at like 8 million. Then if he works out you got him for a bargain for 2-3 years and if not it costs only 1.2 million for next year.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
