Now that pre season is out of the way, who do you think will be R.O.Y.?

So now that we've seen some real action with the rookies, do you still think the same as before?
I'm still thinking it will be Blake Griffin. I have been really impressed with him since college and after watching s a couple Clips games I remembered why. This guy is a beast who can jump out of the building, rebound, athletic, and I think he will start dominating pf's sooner than later.

I think it will be close for Wall though. He's fast and has been giving up some good numbers so far. With Evan Turner, Cousins... it will be fun to watch to see who will win it this year.

Blake Griffen or Cousins. Blake probably has the edge, since he will probably get more minutes  and touches.

I will say when I see Wall perform some highlight, I'm like "that was cool" but when I see Blake do a highlight I jump out of my seat and go "DAMN!"
He does those dunks that make you stop what you are doing and want to rewind it a couple times. I can't remember what game I was watching but I think it was the Clips against the Nuggets and he had a HUGE dunk that didn't even make the highlights because he had a bunch more during the game.
I know dunks aren't going to win the ROY, but they can't hurt.

    John.Wall.

Griffin will have to deal with Gordon, Davis, Butler, Kaman, etc so he won't get as many touches. Wall is THE franchise in Washington and everything is running through him. He'll always have the ball in his hands. Plus, I just think he's the superior talent.

Yeah but Griffins game doesn't necessarily need as many touches, he'll get rebounds, offensive rebounds for put backs, block shots, and then have a few plays run for him. Also if the Clips make the playoffs which I think they could it would be a considerable achievement. I don't think the Wiz will make the playoffs because they don't have enough talent around Wall yet.

But like I said I think it will be close.

If boy can stay injury free, Griffin. This dude can rebound with the best of them and that's where some of his points will come from is the offensive rebounds and the put-backs that will result from it.

Thats Bold. Considering the past two years a SF has won the MVP, and a second SF is about to snag it this year.
Wall can practically be blown over by most players in the NBA, he doesnt have any mass, really. the guys an asparagus with eyes.
I just dont see him benefiting that team as much as cousins, or griffin will theirs. I mean Wall has to compete with several different scorers, in Arenas , Howard, and perhaps Thornton. It will come down to how efficient he is going to be at scoring, and an efficient and rookie, usually dont go hand and hand. And how well he can benefit the team in other aspects, assists, boards if any, amount of turnovers ( Oh LeBron!) smart passes, all those types of things.

Yep, I'm still sold on Blake over Wall. Evan Turner played better than in pre season and did pretty well yesterday. Wall played ok today. Neither were close to Blakes impact on the game though, or his stats. But it is still very early.
Someone earlier said Wall is the superior talent and I have to respectfully disagree.

Did anyone else see the Knicks Clippers game today? Or the highlights?? Blake Griffin... wow. If you haven't seen those highlights you definitely need to go over to nba.com and check them out. Amare got 39 and 11... but Griffin still outscored him and outrebounded him (though the Clips still lost). But there were 2 or 3 just sick dunks that are "must see" for any real basketball fans.

In his first game he made the top 10, at the clippers season opener, i was there, the third play was a FAT Dunk by Blake, it was #3 on the Top 10, i think he has had like 4 now 5 more top 10 plays.
He's dope, plays a great game.

The problem with the clippers is there is no chemistry, they play as individuals and not as a team.

Not sure about John Wall, but it does look like Blake Griffin has what it takes to win ROY (in the small sample I've seen). My question with him is this: Can he actually survive an NBA season playing as hard as he does? He was close to injury multiple times during the Blazers/Clippers first match up and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go down to injury for an extended period this year. Plus, you have to wonder how much of a chance he has with the Clips posting such a terrible record thus far...

Well Wall is hurt right now, but Blake plays like kamikaze so it wouldn't be a big surprise if he gets hurt, though I hope he doesn't. But I think he should win ROY just because he has the numbers right now and if it that stays about the same, but really, who is more exciting to watch right now in the league? His dunks are ridiculous. That one I just linked to was like Dwight Howards superman dunk, but it was in a game over a 7 footer.

A month in and I still think this is the case. Griffin puts up nice dunks and stats, but his team is awful. If he's really a franchise player, he needs to get them to more than one win. Wall will win it if the Wizards continue to be competitive and he continues to dazzle. You see him almost get a quadruple-double the other week? Dude just has amazing talent and skill set.

You still think he is a superior talent? That quad dub would have been real nice, but he plays in the weaker East, and they only have 3 more wins. Also last year Tyreke's team had a much worse record than the Bucks with Jennings, but it was still clear Evans was the ROY, so I don't think their records will be that big of a deal, I'm sure the Clips will win some games sooner or later as well. I mean Blake had a year off, so he still may not be where he could be. He's like a stronger Shawn Kemp with more all around game. He almost had a triple double against the knicks, 44-15-7, and he doesn't handle the ball every possession like Wall does. Blake has to take what the team gives him, and Wall runs the team.

    Wall without a doubt.

I know it's an individual award, but 2-13 for the Clippers after 15 games....  at this pace, I'd be upset if Griffin won it over Wall, who has already put up a triple double and almost had a quadruple double.   Both are on horrible teams,  but I would be surprised if they gave it to Blake.

I don't think their records even matter that much. Look at who's won in the past. It's not their fault they get drafted to a terrible team. That's actually the objective, but only one player goes to the worst team every year. This year it happens to be the Clips (who are always close to the bottom), which is crazy since they have Gordon too, but Lee has been hurt and so has Davis. I thought they had a chance to be better but I seem to be way off at this point. I think the ROY race will be close stats wise, and Wall is leading everyone right now in steals and Griffin is leading all rookies in points and rebounds while averaging a double double, but like someone said on nba.com, Griffin just has that wow factor. But we will have to wait until the end of the year, a lot can happen.

Thats true, but Davis has not been hurt, he faked his injury because he did not want to play against Russel Westbrook, or any other UCLA PG for that matter.
He has a swollen knee for the moment but to all my knowledge and the clips training staff, its from being out of shape, and that is why Baron hasn't come back yet, he is too out of shape.

I wish it would be based on the factor who contributes the most to their team, who can help the team the most, but The Clips, like you mentioned have 3 rookies at sometimes out on the floor with them, and they are damn good rookies too.
    Aminu, wide range of game.
Griffin, well, like i said, Griffin, hahah.
And Bledsoe is a great PG, talk about running an offense like a vet, i swear we should look into him.
But the CLippers dont play like a team, they have horrible chemistry and therefore their record is as bad as it is.

Man, right now it is almost not crazy to ask "should Blake Griffin be an All Star this year?" So far going up against All Star pf's, he has out played (stat-wise) every one of them (that I recall) Amar'e, Tim Duncan, David West etc. except one game against Tim Duncan where Timmy went for 17 and 13, but Blake still got 13 and 17, ha ha

Also the Clips and the Wiz records are much more similar now, only separated by one win with the Clips playing 2 more games.
I am a fan of comcast and the blazers making deals that keep screwing us over!! woot!

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Thank God they are 19 games over 500.  Mayb...

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
