We, as Trail Blazer fans, should for no reason be worried about Commissioner Stern's statements regarding cutting back on teams in the NBA. Portland has a great pedigree with a dedicated fan-base. There is a reason Paul Allen bought back the Rose Garden and put his efforts back into the franchise. The man behind our legend sees not only the potential of the team itself but the impact us as fans have on the team. This is a team with a fan-base that gets behind winners and losers alike. Im reminded of growing up in Metzger (in Tigard) and seeing banners hung outside the houses not only during the season but year round. Not just when we had Drex and Porter and that all-star contending team, but even during the "Jail Blazers" years. Sure a lot jumped ship, but look at what happened. What other teams can say they turned their franchise around so quickly? No one. A couple years as a crap team (excuse my expletive) and BAM we're an up-and-comer. Now our expectations are high. Also, we are one of only a third of teams in the NBA making money. Be proud, and stay stalwart like us Oregonians do. Don't fall into any of the hype that may arise from this declaration. I ask of you to not change. Everyone loves to count us out, not just as a sports team but as a people in general. "Oh its just Oregon who cares?" Yah well, we know how it really is dont we? Sorry this turned into a rant but dang it I love this state and I love the people. In conclusion I want to relay a conversation I had with a cabby here. For a little background I spent a few years in the army and a couple tours in Iraq so I knew off the bat my cabby was from the Baghdad area. Through our conversation it came out that in his 6 years in America he had lived in 9 states. He started in Oregon and eventually made his way back because, and i quote, "Oregon is the only real America left." Let's keep it that way. Keep Oregon Weird my friends and don't despair.
I am a fan of getting the regular season started already!!! I need my fix!

Great cabby story!  Thank you for sharing that, and thank you for serving your country.  I agree with your "rant" and would add only that our owner deserves an even more substantial return on his investment.
I am a fan of players that play with PASSION and PRIDE

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.

Nah, Washington would just sign him themselves, save them a pick. Also, no way JJ is worth a lottery pick. Oladipo would be great, for pretty much any team in the NBA. I don''t think it''s possible to get him though. Should focus on getting a defe...

Jermaine O''Neal, Drazen, Z-Bo, Sheed (I know he was already a star but still). Also Drazen was buried under Drexler and Porter.

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.

Special K, aren''t you a cereal? And yes, Batum is expensive, but I think he''s worth it. Why would you take someone who isn''t is as good, just for less money. Then why don''t we take the worst possible player and pay him the least possible amoun...
