CBS' own Ken Berger predicts the Trail Blazers to win the NW and Luke Babbitt to be our X-Factor:
What has to go right: After the comical string of injuries the Blazers endured last season, they can't possibly be less healthy. Even without counting on former No. 1 pick Greg Oden for anything more than a marginal increase in games and minutes, the Blazers should easily exceed their 2009-10 win total and challenge for the division title. The contradiction with the Blazers is that their methodical style doesn't take full advantage of the array of athletes on the roster. They shouldn't abandon what works, but it's fair to say that speeding up the pace just a tad would give them a dimension they've lacked in the past. They can always go back to the methodical approach come playoff time. Really, though, if new GM Rich Cho can parlay Rudy Fernandez, Andre Miller and expiring contracts -- all assets expertly procured by deposed GM Kevin Pritchard -- into a more dynamic point guard, the Blazers would easily be a top-three team in the West. If ... and this is a big if, given the calamities that hit last season ... they are reasonably healthy.

What could go wrong: If Oden suffers another serious injury, the effects on organizational morale would be devastating. Also, the malcontent factor could be the Blazers' undoing if Fernandez isn't dealt quickly and if Miller is more focused on trade rumors than running the team.

X-Factor: Luke Babbitt. Pritchard proved that he's a bigger man than most when he pulled off this draft-night trade, with full knowledge that he would been given his walking papers. Pritchard saved Paul Allen millions in luxury tax by converting Martell Webster into Babbitt, the 16th overall pick. But it was more than a cost-saving move; Babbitt could see a decent amount of floor time as LaMarcus Aldridge's backup by the time the playoffs roll around.

I'm not sure Luke is our X-Factor, that'd go to Wesley in my opinion, but its nice to see not everyone drinking the OKC Kool-Aid, ya know?

I''m not talking about those kinda calls, but phantom calls. Kobe gets soooo many phantom calls. I like Lebron, but I know because he''s a superstar he gets certain actions overlooked. Kobe just gets random stuff called. Remember when Kobe smacked...

Oh, sorry Damian, you make so many I stopped reading them. I don''t because I don''t know much about salaries and stuff. Stephenson would be great, excellent rebounder, Tough Defender, is playing awesome in  today''s  game.

Siccolo, did you mean heavier or lighter? I don''t think Noel will do well in the league. If he stays healthy long enough, he might be a half decent starter, if not, Greg Oden.

Damian, you are completely right on that, let''s just hope it''s not a negative impact (Shout out, Ray Ray). And since when did people WANT to come to Portland? This is great.

joint option for year three at like 8 million. Then if he works out you got him for a bargain for 2-3 years and if not it costs only 1.2 million for next year.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
