Did SLAM get this ranking right?
    Yes (23)
     57%
    No (17)
     42%
    Via SLAM-

There’s a lot to like about Brandon Roy’s game. Dude is about as well-rounded as they come. He’s one of those a jack of all trades types, a cat you definitely want on your team, but definitely despise having to play against more than a handful of times over the course of an NBA season.

Roy can score, seemingly at will, when he puts his mind to it. He’s not afraid to mix it up inside either, down low in the block against the best big men in the League. Roy is unselfish with the rock in his hands too. And believe it or not, he gets after things on the defensive end of the floor.

By most accounts, he’s the face of the Portland Trail Blazers. Roy has been largely, although not solely, responsible for helping to clean up the image of the franchise. Remember, not long ago, the Trail Blazers were known as the Jail Blazers. Times were, indeed, tough in the Pacific Northwest.

With Roy in the mix, order has been restored, and rightfully so.

Taking all of these things into consideration, it’s makes complete sense that Roy checks in at the No. 11 in the SLAMonline Top 50.

I think 11 is about right, considering he had an off year and has shown to be injury prone from time to time,. If he can play 78+ games and lead the team out of the 1st round, I think there's little doubt he cracks the Top 10 next season.

Perfect placement, I'm not ready to put him in the "elite" category yet, but he is definitely an all-star and an ALL NBA honoree. I also agree that with another good year, and an allstar appearance+deep playoff run for the team, he will be in the top 10

As much as it pains me to say it, good placement. He's not as elite as I had hoped he would be. i just wish he takeover a little more earlier in games to keep the game close, similar to what Williams, Kobe, and others do.

I'd put him at 7th best. He's The Natural, but not Top 5 yet. But nearing it. #7

yeah, it's probably pretty accurate. i'd like him to be ranked higher, but for now 11 isn't too darn bad.

#11 isn't too bad, but if we have championship aspirations, we need a bonafide Top 5-7 superstar to carry us there. Houston had Hakeem, SA had Duncan, LA had Shaq and Kobe, Boston had the Big 3. Either Roy raises his game or we need to make a move to get another top 15 player to play alongside of him because I don't think LA is getting it done and unfortunately we can't count on my boy (G.O.)....yet

Are we talking overall, or at his position? If we're talking his position, im insulted for him. And will someone give me the ten ahead of him please. Id like to see that list. Immediately.

I think Roy is at minimum .. a top 10 player .. and a top 3 SG in the league only Wade/Kobe are better (for now)

Just me tho .. I may admittedly be a bit biased ..

We just gotta remember that he was injured last year so that will hinder the ranking, and he is ranked above the likes of Amare, Derrick Rose, Chris Bosh, Tim Duncan, and Steve Nash... Very impressive!

That's pretty darn good.  I'm glad Brandon is finally receiving national recognition as a superstar player.  I'm just glad he's ahead of Derrick Rose, who gets WAY to much hype in my opinion.

I think we could probably see a better Roy this year. When we get our Bigs back to take some heat off of him. I bet at least 3 players in the top ten are Lakers, when you got that much Talent on your side it is a bit easier to look good at any given time. You can play less minutes while still getting the good numbers. I'll settle with the #11 spot only to see the press eat their words.

If Roy is the 11th best overall .. when injured (09-10 NBA season)

Imagine what he is capable of doing healthy .. THIS YEAR !!

Just saw they had Pau #10 and Dirk #9. Going by their rankings, Roy should be Top 10. He's simply better than Pau. Gasol couldn't lead his team to ANY playoff wins (getting swept both years) as the man. Gasol is nice, don't get me wrong, but it has more to do with the defense having to respect Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Odom, and Bynum.

LA came in at 42nd FWIW....

    Their Top 8?
    In No Order

    Deron Williams
    Chris Paul
    Kobe Bryant
    Dwyane Wade
    LeBron James
    Carmelo Anthony
    Kevin Durant
    Dwight Howard

I think Dirk is better than Melo...

#11 seems fair after last years injury prone season.  He'll definitely break the top 10 if he stays healthy and plays at the level we all know he's capable of.  Go Blazers!

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
