I know the obvious reaction is going to be "DUH!", but after dropping 3 straight in the preseason and seeing how the end of 2010 took place, it got me thinking. There was just something not right with the team. Sure we have Roy Aldridge and Batum, Camby came in and played more than what was ever expected, and the team showed a lot of resilience fighting through all the difficulties to make the playoffs, but something wasn't 'there'.

Then finally after hearing Wesley talk about never being satisfied with stretches of good play and the way he carries himself, and his attitude towards the game, it clicked. We need more players like Wes and Joel is exactly that. He is our blue collar worker who does the dirty work, shells out the hard fouls, and doesn't take any crap from anyone. Honestly, I don't think teams are afraid to take it to the paint against us. Camby swatted away 5 shots but his M.O. is not that of an enforcer; Joel's is. Every great team in the past has had an intimidator (Detroit- Wallace, Lambeir; LA- Rambis; Knicks- Oakley; Portland; Lucas, Williams). I recall back to when Pryz would get into it on a nightly basis with Martin, Chandler, and Boozer just to name a few. When we had a healthy Pryz, I just felt like teams knew they were in for a dog fight the entire night. This is not a knock on the current roster, rather how much we truly do need Joel back.

Give us a healthy Joel, Wesley, and Dante and the physical intensity will definitely rise and teams will be a little more leery of playing the Trail Blazers.

Joel we miss you and we need you to be back on the court.  You are the heart of our team and are greatly missed.  Be Healthy and come back to our team!

I think you nailed it on the head. Joel is a no holds bar kinda guy, and with LaMarcus still growing into the big man PF, Joel was the lane stabilizer for our team.

Like I have said for going on 4 years now, Joel is untouchable, and one of the most important players to the team.

    Go big Joel !!!

Joel brings a presence that otherwise is absent...noticeably so in fact.  Couldn't agree more with you Kim.  Heart of a lion, and the pride to go with it.  A sturdy warrior who backs down from noone.  A guy that would break his OWN nose in a fight, so as to not allow his adversary the opportunity.  Sad that this team only has ONE player like Joel, and what makes "home court advantage"  the fans responsibility these days.  PRIDE!

The teams toughness is back as soon as Joel hits the floor. His attitude changes the face of our defense and forces teams to play outside in.
Welcome back Joel, our Thrilla, the Vanilla Gorilla.

I know everyone likes that we have a bunch of nice guys, but we need more hard knocks like Joel. Teams need to know they won't come into the RG and push us around. Joel's a nice guy off the court, but when he steps onto the hardwood, its like he turns into another person. Wesley and Dante are similar to that as well. I want a team that isn't going to take any crap from anyone, will be relentless in out hustling their opponents, and do anything to protect their teammates. Its weird that one player can make a difference, but we turn into a different team when Joel's out there.

Claver will make a great squad player when he develops his outside shot. His size is an asset because he can guard SF and stretch 4s. If he can be a better rebounder and add a post move to his game we could be looking at a possible answer to our f...

Oden was definitely the best pick coming out of high school and arguably ahead of Durant in the 2007 draft. But the draft is art not science and we really needed a dominant center at the time. If we can get Oden for a short term low-risk deal. Lik...
