Lets hope it isnt as bad as it sounds. The word curse comes to mind with big men and knees.
I hope Blazer brass knows more about Oden and Pryz than they are talking about.

JP's twitter said hes on his way back to portland to get checked out, so far nothing major. Let's hope so! But nate was quoted saying that something has to be done to acquire another big for this preseason and perhaps regular season. HMMMM.....guess we might be hearing rumors soon? Who knows. oh and fyi....I don't have a twitter. It was a posted thing on the blazers homepage.

Why do need to get another big man? Maybe to finish pre-season but otherwise we would have Joel, Oden and Camby...

The silver lining in this? We no longer have to hold our breath as to when the first team injury (i don't count rudy) will happen.

WTF is REALLY going on in Portland with our trainers ?

They need to get fired .. Get NEW TRAINERS .. ASAP !! While Portland has the talent to actually GO some where !!

we've been talking about acquiring a backup pf for quite a while; some of us thought that might happen with a Rudy trade. i think we need a 6-10 or 6-11 pf/c. if we can't get that in a trade, ten perhaps we can clear the roster spot through a trade and sign a free agent.

Well daddy, remember that Oden has not played a full season yet in Portland. I for one am not waiting for him to jump in and start now.
I would feel a lot better if another center replaced Rudy.
These knee injuries are getting beyond ridiculous. I have to agree, that if it is not a curse, the training of big men should at least be looked into.

We have a great 4/5 rotation with Greg, Joel, Camby, and LA. We just need to be patient and wait for them to come back and stay above water throughout November. Dante can play some 4, LA can play 5, Batum and Babbitt can give us spot minutes. Even Wesley played some 4 last night. We be fine!

I don't think we need anyone just for preseason, but there is no actual date given for when Oden or Pryz are going to be back (at least none that I've heard) and even when they get back when will they be given the green light to go 100%. If it looks like it's going to be more than 2 or 3 weeks into the season, I hope they seriously look at acquiring another big.

Also give everyone on the team an MRI right now for their knees, so we can see if everyone's knees are actually healthy or if something is putting them at a higher than normal risk of injury, like the training staff!!!!!

I was actually going to make a thread about this.

Do you watch any other sports, because i do, and i have just been AMAZED at how many people are going out with injuries, and at an increasingly alarming rate.

we'll likely look for another center/pf now that the extent of Jeff's injury is known. last season we had five natural pf/centers (Greg, Joel, LaMarcus, Juwan and Jeff). even when Greg and Joel come back, this year we will only have four (Greg, Joel, LaMarcus and Marcus). yes, Dante can play pf, too, but he's more naturally a sf in the nba.

I'm not concerned about the rotation at the 4.
Exactly how many years do we need to keep being patient waiting for Oden ???

Gotta sign someone. And since all these bigs are out, it looks like my hopes of signing a PG are out.
There are stil alot of PG's out there, Rafer Alston, Larry Hughes.
But as far as FA bigs go, a decent 7 footer in Mbenga, and Earl Barron has continueslty progressed throughout his career.
