    From DIME-
     Portland Trail Blazers, 1992
After losing to the Lakers in the playoffs the previous season and making it to the Finals the season before that, the Blazers knew they were among the League’s elite. Led by Clyde Drexler and head coach Rick Adelman, the Blazers were among the favorites to come out of the West, finishing the regular season with 57 wins. They beat the Lakers, Suns, and Jazz on their path to the Finals, however Jordan, Phil Jackson and Chicago would be too much for the Blazers to handle in the Finals. This would be the first of many times Adelman would fall to Phil Jackson in the playoffs, starting what would become one of the best coaching rivalries in the NBA.
No the pain doesn't stop there....
    Portland Trail Blazers, 2000

The 2000 Blazers were arguably the best Portland team of all-time, even more talented than the ‘77 championship team. The starting lineup of Damon Stoudemire, Steve Smith, Scottie Pippen, Rasheed Wallace and Arvydas Sabonis (the best passing center the game has ever seen) produced a very balanced attack, while Greg Anthony, Bonzi Wells, Detlef Schrempf, Brian Grant an Jermaine O’Neal held down a deep bench. Under head coach Mike Dunleavy, Portland advanced to the Western Conference Finals, defeating the Timberwolves and the Jazz in their first two series.

Awaiting them were the 67-win Lakers, armed with an MVP Shaq and young star Kobe. As colossal as the Lakers seemed, the Blazers weren’t scared at all, forcing the series to a Game Seven showdown in L.A. The Blazers were famously up by 15 late in the game before the Lakers waged a furious comeback and went on to the first of their three-peat titles.

Honestly, I don't even think they put down our best team (91), but I guess mentioning us twice on the list was enough hurt to relieve. To this day, I'm still in a little disarray/shock that neither the 90's or 2000 team never got it done. Hopefully before I pass, the Trail Blazers will be able to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy!  But on the plus side, we weren't the only teams to experience the heartbreak of getting so close only to fall short.

Not a bad list. I don't think that Knicks team in 94 was anything to write home about. I would probably say that Either of our Blazers teams and the Kings in 2002 were the best teams to never win a ring in the past 20 years.

That king story though, man Christie is so lame. cant stand him, and bibby, i never liked, never ever, never thought i would.
But over the past year i have come to like him, he is a very good PG, VURRY GUD.
And cant forget about my man Bron. In due time....

I have to agree I think we got robbed in the 91 series against the Lakers. I swear the only reason we lost to them is because Magic Johnson came out with that he had HIV and everyone felt sorry for him. The Blazers hands down had the better team, they even had a better team than the Bulls that year. The next not so much I have never been a fan of Scotty Pippen and that team except for Sheed. Most of the team was a bunch of aging players on their last legs searching for another ring so they just could not quite get it done.

Hawes, this is maybe the only thread you've ever started since I joined, where I DIDN'T hit the "continue reading" link!  I remember that Laker game.  Moreover, I remember the ball squirting thru Uncle Cliffy's hands down on the baseline.  Sigh...

The Malone/Stockton tandem never won rings though.  Sir Charles, the Human Highlight Film (Dominque Wilkins)...the list goes on and on.  Just trying to RATIONALIZE in hopes of forgetting past failures

Nope didn't forget Bron..those Cavs teams weren't that great. They are (were) the Mavs of the East. Great regular season team but when it comes crunch time, they choke it away in the playoffs.

Oh well, at least we're not the Buffalo Bills..4 times in a row to win ONE game and lost every time.

I think you might be able to deal the #1 for a pretty good offer.

But I would trade it for Sanders before I trade it for Asik. I like both but Sanders would be a better fit imo.

LOL, Yeah I liked Henson coming in to the draft. I would take Henson over Leonard any day of the week. Leonard is athletic but shoots too much for my liking. I would take Henson''s offensive skill set over Meyers (Skill set I would want my big man...

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
