Who do you think will claim this years rookie honors? a lot of people are putting their bets on Wall... Honestly I beleive it will be Blake Griffin.  Wall is going to be an all-star if he lives up to the potential, however he is playing on the Wizards with Arenas, who is out to prove he is not washed up.  A talented rookie going up against a vet with a chip on his shoulder could cause for a drastic win difference however.  Demarcus Cousins is also IMO a potential breakout star in the league as a rookie.

    Anybodies thoughts?

i personally believe R.O.Y shouldn't be just based on stats. should have winning record in there as well.

i would have muc hrather seen brandon jennings get r.o.y last year because he was on a above .500 team. that made the playoffs no less.

so i believe the r.o.y should only be given to those who have a .500 record at the end of the season on their respective teams.
with that said i have to go with evan turner. i believe the 76ers will be an above .500 team this year.
depending on how the kings use cousins he could be the R.O.Y too.
think the nets forward flavors has a chance at it too.

Although I agree to an extent, the R.O.Y. isn't the Rookie MVP so therefore its based solely on the rookie...  I agree it shouldn't solely be on their stats however, rookies sometimes do a lot of good things represented on stat sheets.  Curry playing on the fast paced Warriors inflated his stats but he actually has the talent to back up his numbers, but there were plenty of rookies last year that were not stars and did what they were asked to do perfectly.  It isn't a rookies fault if he is asked to come in 12 mpg and do something specific so its not entirely fair that they get the shaft on the award for doing their assignment and not worrying about themselves over the team.

I don't think the teams record should count for that much. That would mean whoever goes to the best team or the easiest conference and has the most playing time should win. It should count for something, especially if a rookie takes his team deep into the playoffs, but the Bucks were in the weaker East last year and the Kings were in the West where even the 8th seed won 50 games. In the East you had to go to the number 4 seed to see a team with at least 50.

I think Griffin will win it, if he doesn't get hurt again.

Griffin had, probably, a freak accident.  Heck, I was walking at work one time doing nothing out of the ordinary and tweaked my foot had to take sick leave for 2 weeks just to nurse it.  So seeing what all they do it is surprising these accidents arn't more common but Tom thats why I agree with him to an extent.  The rookie that impacts his team most positively should be ROY I believe Griffin can possibly lead the clippers to an 8th seed.

I personally believe that Blake  will win the ROY award due to his ridiculous work ethic and imposing stature couple with athletic ability.  He can be Amare Stoudemire with defense and is a freakish rebounder. John Wall will be Second because he is one of the most natural playmakers in the league without playing in an official game. Cousins will be third and will help the Kings make the playoffs this year.  I have a feeling Evan Turner will not be successful as long as Iggy is with the team, if they trade Iggy for a decent center and a good sf then he will excel.Off topic but i believe they should trade Iggy to the kings for Jason Thompson and Hassan Whiteside.  This gives the Kings a playmaker alongside tyreke who is a tenacious defender and the Sixers get an up and coming 4 in Thompson and a Blocking machine in Whiteside.

I agree wholeheartedly that the way ROY is award should be similar to MVP in regards to the players worth to the team and his contributions to the team.  Tyreke Evans had a phenomenal year but Brandon Jenning led his team to the playoffs and nearly upset the Hawks without Andrew Bogut in the rotation.  This year with the addition of corey maggette and larry sanders down bottom the bucks could surprise alot of people

The R.O.Y. i think should go to the rookie with the best production. Wins. Is the team better off with him? Does he make the players around him better. Roy, and a handful of others made their teams better. Wee went from 21, to 32, to 41, to 54, and 50 wins. Progression. Last year we would have won sixty with a healthy roster, and gone into the playoffs with a Rose City swagger.

John Wall for R.O.Y. Remember, Griffin is playing on a Clipps team with a bunch of shoot first guards (Baron, Foye, Gordon) and an All-Star big man (Kaman). I'm not sure he's going to get as many looks as a guy like Wall.

I like Evan Turner. He's gonna take some scoring pressure off Igoudala, which will help showcase both players all around games. All depends on the standings. Philly does well and makes the playoffs, Evan should get it. Then again, John Wall might put up ridiculous #'s. It should be an exciting rookie showcase this season.

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
