    When you here, Basketball, NBA, Proffesional Basketball, what do you think of?

    The Los Angles Lakers are playing the Timberwolves in London, UK. I had heard they were over there, and i thought it was a camp they had, well i looked into it further. It is a pre season game at the 02 arena, where last year, the bulls and the jazz went head to head and the bulls ended up on top 102-101.

    Now, theres nonthing really amazing about this, but the fact the Stern said, "This is a very important continuing step to bring our best-known team, the Lakers, to London."

    Now, the other day, i was watching the local news, and Kobe Bryant has the top selling jersey, in Europe, once again. WOW, went through my head. How annoying their sports community must be.

    But what i want to know, is if you guys would agree with his statement, for me, i guess the lakers could be the most world reknown team, but he didnt even mention the celtics, when it comes to actual basketball, Boston is still the old man on the throne, and no one can deny that.

    But i dont know, it just feels wrong.

    Its easy for the Lakers to be the most world renowned team seeing as how the NBA pushes them into the limelight as much as possible

    Man, everything is about Kobe. Kobe this, Kobe that. If it wasn't for Phil Jackson Kobe wouldn't have a single ring on his fingers. Anything and everything Phil Jackson touches turns to gold. Lets get real, I mean there's no doubt the Lakers are good, but they are a BS Team, and I hate it! Remember game 7 in the finals this year? 37 TRIPS TO THE FREE THROW LINE! They are the favorites among the ref's, and the NBA as a whole. IMO, game 7 was rigged. My uncle was saying he was reading a book, written by a ex-referee who said the refs place bets with each other before the game starts. And regardless of which team is better, the team the refs want to win, will win. Phil Jackson will succeed on his quest for his 4th three-peat this year, with the guidance of the referees and the NBA. Anybody seen that movie released a few years ago called "Death Race"? Same scenario! LA is a huge market, they're making a killing off of views right? lol. The Lakers are the equivalent of Frankenstein on "Death Race".

    No matter what state your in you can find Laker gear in every store that sells basketball gear (barring team specific stores) wheras even teams like boston, that have a lot of out of state sales, dont get as much coverage or product placement as LA.  Example.  A source of mine that was the head manager at Just Sports located in various malls around town told me that the company is asked to push Laker gear above all else and then home team gear second i cant name the source for confidentiality reasons sorry.

    Hey people although we all are Blazer fans and we are known for hateing on the LAKERS we have to give them credit for what they have done over the years.  Think about this! Every GM and eight teams passed on KOBE in the draft, and the one that drafted him traded him to the LAKERS.  I also give them credit for advertising their product.  Our front office can learn from them.

    Don't hate the PLAYER.  They make us happy and sad and sometimes they do that all in the same minute.  I love the sport and I love my BLAZERS.  WORD!

    When a team wins 5 of the last 10 championships they are going to be well known everywhere.

    Think in economic terms - Europe/china are markets that stern wants his brand to break into, whats the best way to break into a market? products that are proven winners.  Stern is just using the most recognizable (contemporary) champs to promote the nba brand. Kobe was on the last gold medal team and is known in Europe his sales of merch. show this. I think it is a bit exploitative of Stern to make the LA Lakers fly all the way to London to play a preseason game. It is really far from the west coast to play, for the express purpose of gaining a small wedge into a new market. I hate stern's look of capitalism - it's sick because these players already are ran to hard. They are people, not cogs for profit. Think NFL, it did break into the Market of europe, since they have for the last couple of years played REAL games in london. I think Stern wouldn't mind some Real games over in Europe. I think this is a ridiculous proposition for people already extremely travel wary.

    When basketball is not something you love or follow its very easy to forget things mentioned a few years back. Basketball isn't number one sport in the majority of European countries, peoples memories don't go far back, they don't remember the Celtics or any other team for what they've done 10 years ago. The Lakers have won more championships as of recent memory that make them more renown well-known team in Europe. I remember 15 years ago when all the talks were over the Bulls and how it changed over the last few years when Lakers became the team to talk about. Btw I live in Europe.

    Why we talkin about Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. just in case you didnt know this is the Blazers site! Any Blazers fan hates the Lakers. I dont see why everybody has to bring up the damn Lakers the Blazers are going to win it all this year and everyone will be talkin about them. So lets just get a jump on the compotition.

    @BlAzErS_FaN: That'd be nice man, but it probably won't happen, maybe after the Crawford brothers gets fired, and Phil Jackson retires! I love the Blazers, but if they don't win it all, I'll be rooting for the CELTICS to knock down every team in their path, INC the Lakers!

    haha.
    Yeah but see, now youve just entered an entrirley controversail topic. You say that if any team wins with phil, itts because of phil
    So like do you feel the same about chicago and MJ>?
    Because if you dont, then it must be Kobe Bryant, and you cant deny that Kobe is like Perhaps the best since micheal, and Bron is right behind him.

    @Fallen.
    I hear you on that, and understand, like i mentioned, Kobe's jersey is the top seller in europe for the 2nd year. but like, what really got me is the fact that he didnt even hesitate, like, Boston, or any other name, nothing else was going through his head.
    I mean Boston has won the most championships,  Its like If the Yankees were the team they were and are today, but the Dodgers were more world famous, liked by more people in europe, like do they even play baseball in europe?!!
    I hate the Dodgers.**

    Idk maybe it just got under my skin more than others.

    @TayC:
    It's not entirely because of Phil, Phil Jackson knows to go where the talent is, but I guarantee if Phil Jackson coached for Portland between 2012-2016, the Blazers would have 3 more championships to add to the one they already have. Come on now man, the guy has more rings than fingers! lol There's no denying Phil Jackson is BY FAR the best coach of all-time! The man is a genius when it comes to coaching! Send Phil to Portland, Chicago, Orlando, Boston, Dallas, OKC or any other "top" team, and I PROMISE YOU they will have 3 championships within 5 years! In the history in the NBA, he's better than any player, coach, or anything basketball related, PHIL JACKSON IS THE NBA! But yeah I do agree with your 1. Jordan 2. Bryant 3. James....LBJ will have to bring up 4+ championships to pull that #2 spot though.
