John Hollinger, a senior writer for ESPN, says Portland could be a great suitor for Billups and could make a run at the veteran. What do you think of this?

I think it has been rumored around here for a while and if it is going to happen, its going to be after Melo is dealt if at all

Only if Melo gets dealt will Billups start thinking about asking for a trade..he would be awesome next to BRoy though

Billups is a leader & a teacher. MVP and winner.Certainly wouldnt have to play as hard as he does in Denver were he to be here. For the sake of arguement, Bdawg could it work? What would it take? Yeah i know, lots of Fans are probably opposed to the idea but why not, if we could keep our core four?

I brought up this topic over a month ago when the Melo trade news just broke... This would be a great move for the Blazers. Fans often times get too attatched to players and want to keep them here. Everyone needs to realize that we ARE NOT a championship team with this current roster, but are very close. In order to become a championship team, when an opportunity like this comes up, we need to pull the trigger

    Oops!!!!

Are you sure we can't win a championship with the team we have? You also said if something is dumped in our laps take it. Do you think for a minute that Chauncey Phillips will be ours for the taking? Do you think that other teams with more lure won't be in the bidding? Doy you ever think that CP1 is getting to the end of his career and would be satisfied to retire in Denver unless they trade him unwillingly?

IMO, you are just daydreaming and not looking at reality, but if we could get him it would be a great fit. IMO also is that we can win a championship with what we have, so I would not want to give up to much for CP1.

I like Andre Miller for this blazer's team. But i wouldn't be furious to see Billups in a Blazer uniform. I'd like to see Billups coming off the bench and being our fourth quarter point guard. But they are two 1's that want to be on the floor during the big moment so that woudln't work, it'd have to be one or the other.

Yes, I'm sure we are at least one piece away from a championship, and any realistic Blazer fan with any basketball knowledge would also agree. I will give you that we havent seen our team fully healthy, so no one is absoloutely positive. Chauncey Billups is a huge upgrade over miller, and sorry Blazer fans, shouldn't really be put in the same breath. Billups has won an NBA championship, played in all star games, had all nba honors, just won the FIBA world championships, and has played in many more playoff games than miller. If an opportunity comes, we should trade for him. No duh he's not gonna just fall in our lap, but we could definitely pull the trigger on a trade

I would love to have Billups, I think he is a great point guard and we could use his 3 point shooting, but I would not want to give up many of the pieces we have for an older point guard.

What is the age difference between Andre and Chauncey?  What would we have to give up besides Andre to get Chauncey?  I don't think Chauncey is going anywhere even if Denver trades Melo.  But this is interesting.

They are both the same age. Andre is actually a few months older than Chauncey.

I am totally for getting Chauncey. He hasn't had had  any off-court/on-court incidents and I know once he would come to Portland he'd be loved by (us) fans immediately.

    Boom.
    Right there.
    Leader.Teacher.Veteran.MVP.Winner.

And there are so many other players like him, we should go after players like this not draft picks.
But like someone said, if mello doesnt go, chauncy wont for sure. but he could work for this team, and if he came this team would work again....

hands down he would fit perfectly. unlike miller, billups can do stuff when he deosnt have the ball. the problem with miller playing next to roy is that they both need the ball to be at there best. billups can come off screens and shoot with a high percentage. He's a proven leader and winner, hes been in big time games, and made big time shots. He doesnt try to over do things like miller can do sometimes. I would feel way better with the ball in billups hands coming down the stretch than with miller. all in all it wont happen unless melo departs denver. billups isnt a star but would be a piece we need to win a championship.

billups has already said he wants to play for a team that has a shot at a title, if denver parts with melo they would then be in a rebuilding stage. like i said billups wants to win, hes getting older and the chances are running out. if your denver and you lose melo, your not going to win a championship or even be a contender so to rebiuld with a 34 y/o PG isnt in the cards, its best for them to get something now while they can rather than wait and get nothing. and portland has the trade assests they could want.

Convince me that Billups is that much better fit than Dre ??
Imo, same situation, not the long term fit, why mess with the rest of the team  to get him ??

I dont know about much better, but he does bring a few things to the table that Dre' cannot. Turnabout being fairplay, Dre is the most consistent NBA player to date with most consecutive days played. I could be wrong about that, so at worst he's second. A.C.Green  being first but he no longer plays.
Chauncey has a nice post up game, and his pull up threes in transition, are rivaled only by Dirk.
They both have their pluses and minus' .

    Well i have to disagree.
When i look at miller, i see a guy who can really feed the ball inside, great passes, gets teammates involved, good at scoring inside. But he has no jump shot. He lacks playoff experience.
When i look at Billups, i see a guy who CAN do all of the things Miller does, but with the team he is on, he is more valuable as a scorer, so he may not give up the rock as much as miller, but it doesnt mean that he cant dish out great passes, or maybe have led the league in assist.........
But you see Billups, has a Jumpshot, Billups has a three ball, and Billups has great playoff experience, oh wait he was the FINALS MVP!

You know, ive heard once or twice on here that LeBron isnt that good, because he has never won a championship.
And if thats the rule here,
Well hate to break it to you, Miller hasnt won much of anything his career.
    Billups on the other hand
NBA champ, finals mvp, a 5 time All STAR, NBA 2nd team, NBA 3rd team. Sportsmanship award.

Billups is more promising than  Andre, and what is  with that hair man
