Tons of good stuff in John Hollinger's season preview, which alone is worth the price of ESPN Insider. I don't want to give away all good stuff since it's subscription content, but Hollinger is high on the Trail Blazers this season assuming we can make it through the season healthy.

    My favorite part ...

Presuming the injury luck is a bit more evenly distributed this season, one has to like the Blazers' chances of moving back to the top of the Western contender pack. In fact, if Oden stays healthy, they have a chance to outlast the Lakers for the top playoff seed in the conference. I still don't think they can beat L.A. in the playoffs, because the current Blazers roster is much better constructed for the regular season than the postseason, but Portland appears to be the biggest obstacle to a fourth straight Lakers conference title.

    Holla!

Thoughts? Are we ready to take that next step? Are you willing to beleive that second in the West is possible this season? I don't want to get hurt again.

Personally, I'm holding back expectations. I got too giddy after our 09 season and my hopes got unrealistic. This year, I am just hoping we can make it out of the first round and don't suffer any more serious injuries. Do we have the talent  capable of making a big splash? Definitely. But, this franchise has a nasty injury history and until that hurdle can be cleared, I'll take another playoffs and hopefully a 2nd round appearance. The 10 year drought has been too long!

If Oden can stay healthy than we should be able to make it out of the first round no problem, and as for us contending for a title? I'd say definitely within the next 2-3 years is a good time-frame.

Hollinger is the only analyist (besides Rip City freak Henry Abbott) who actually thinks the Blazers are better than the Thunder.  Hopefully this opinion starts to spread.  I'm sick of all the talks about the Thunder winning five championships in the next ten years.

    Thank you John!!!!!

Yeah, the Thunder are over-rated and over-hyped.  Kevin Durant is a legend in the making, sure, but the team as a whole still needs some time to mature.  I wish they were still in Seattle, because this is going to be a great rivalry for the next 5 years, particularly if Oden gets healthy and Batum lives up to expectations.

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

Splitter would fill our needs the best. Pekovic isn''t great defensively but a solid rebound and a muscle man who would do decent. Al Jefferson is a less polished LMA with not as good defence and his rebounding is decreasing.

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...

why is everyone high on Shabazz.  He can''t shoot and he thinks he''s the next best thing to Lebron.  His attitude is not positive.
