    From Marc Stein-
The proposed deal, sources said, also would involve the Utah Jazz and the Charlotte Bobcats. It would deliver Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors, Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko and multiple first-round picks to Denver in exchange for their franchise player, potentially bringing a resolution to Anthony's uncertain future before the Nuggets hold their first practice of the new season.

Sources told ESPN.com that the deal, which has yet to be finalized, also would send former All-Star point guard Devin Harris to Charlotte, with Bobcats forward Boris Diaw moving to Utah.

The four teams, said one source close to the talks, are "seriously engaged" after extensive talks Thursday.

However, one obstacle is Anthony's willingness to sign a contract extension with the Nets. A source told ESPN.com that the Nets will not go through with the trade -- even if Denver is ready to pull the trigger -- unless Anthony commits to signing a contract extension, as Kevin Garnett did as part of the mega-trade that sent him from Minnesota to Boston in July 2007.

This would be AWESOME in my opinion. Not only does it really hurt Denver, but Utah as well. Diaw for Ak47 is a downgrade. This would all but guarantee us the NW division as long as we don't get hurt 300 more times again next season. Not sure how Charlotte is getting Devin Harris for nothing but maybe we could sneak into this trade? What do you think?

We dont need Melo gone to win the division.  No way does Melo end up in Portland if this deal fails either.
Help me out here, what is NJ getting for Harris ???  Makes no sense to me.

I don't know if I agree Kim. Melo plays us tough and the whole Denver team, with their physicality inside, really is a bad matchup for us. While they are not an elite team anymore, they still have a shot at the division with Carmelo.

I'm not impressed with the Melo drama,  I guess in the above scenario, NJ gets Melo ?  I wouldn't give up Harris for him either, just my 2 cents.

poor Melo, he's better of staying on Denver, if he wants to do well this year.
Im sure hes wishin he woulda made a move about a month ago, and hooked up with Amare in NY.
Going to NJ though, hmmm, or Utah, i mean Utah traded the whole damn team to chicago, i just cant help but feel its a move out of desperation.
Like Anthony just wants to move, idk if it has to do with everyone else moving around or what, but none of these teams are winning teams, so i dont see what he's shooting for.
However i would totally trade Harris for Melo, are you kiddin me, if Harris can create his own shot, Melo can create his own OFFENSE.But, trading harris would be trading your best player for an even better one, not a good way to build a team, if Melo is able to team up with Harris, then now, now were talking, now we got what looks like it could be a team here....haha

Haha..ESPN showed a graphic of how much the nets would improve if they landed Melo. They said NJ would peak at about 42 wins and obtain the 7th seed! Wow, are you that desperate to go to the east coast Melo? You're the one who signed the first extension, now go to work kid! Those of us living in the "real World" cant just say "assign me to a new division or another company" When you're contract is up, then go looking for something else, but until then, buck up and quit acting like an immature teenager.

    Trade DEAD via realgm-
The four-team blockbuster trade that would have landed Carmelo Anthony in New Jersey has died and the Nets have ended their pursuit of the superstar for the time being.

*sigh* It would have been nice not having to deal with Melo, but hopefully all of the distractions can do enough damage to not make them a force in the NW

Even if he had gotten traded the Blazers would still have to deal with andre kirlienko and derrick Favors.  And also whoever the nuggets would use those two draft picks on.  It would be easier to win the division for this year, but after favors has a year to develop and the nuggets use those draft picks, I don't think it will be any easier for the blazers to beat the nuggets

I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

i read that melo stated he never once mention he wanted a trade.
i just find that so hard to believe with all that went on with this and how close it came.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
