    From Joe Freeman-
Point guard Patty Mills, who played for the Blazers as a rookie last season and on their summer league team in July, is not expected to be a part of camp. The Blazers issued Mills a qualifying contract offer over the summer, but he has not signed it.

I know we don't really need a 4th point guard, but man, Patty is a likable person and I really hope we find a spot for him on the squad. If he doesn't end up in Portland, I hope he finds a home somewhere in the NBA because I do think the talent is there for him. What do you think?

No room for a defensive liability.  This should have been done last summer, but I wish Mills luck wherever he lands.

Can never have too many good personalities on a team, and if no one else wants him I'd like to have him on the end of our bench.

YAY! Patty Mills has by far the worst ball handling skills I've ever seen.
And on top of that, the only reason he put up decent numbers in the summer league was because he hardly ever passed the damn ball.
He'd rather shoot with a man all up in his face before passing to player wide-open, that's Patty, and that's why I'm glad he's not making the roster.

This may sound redundant to many of you who have read my past posts.  If so, let me apologize in advance...

I agree with both Crim AND Kim.  Patty was one of two Blazers last season that actually took the time, EVERY TIME, to connect with fans after games...the other being-big surprise here-Juwan Howard.  He did so with a degree of sincerity that is truly rare amongst athletes today.  He was especially interactive with the kids, again with that uncommon sincerity.  Juwan was the same way.  Both lit the place up with their smiles and I believe...truly "get it".  For these reasons, I will miss Mills if he does move on.

I do also agree with Kim, to some degree, keeping in mind the BUSINESS aspect of professional basketball.  However,I think just as he is a liability defensively, he ALSO has to be guarded at THE OTHER END.  With the hand-checking rules as they are now, coupled with Patty's speed and quickness, that may prove to be a tall order.  That said, I think Patty needs "the right fit", and Portland is NOT it.  We can only hope that Miami doesn't take a liking to him, because THAT may just be the fit Mills needs to flourish.  They can afford him, and he WOULD play there.  Not even Halloween yet, and already scaring myself...LOL!  Patty would spread the floor nicely for the "Big Three", keeping defenses honest (IMO)

In any event, Mills has earned my support with the way he interacted with my son.  High character, high class guy...I wish him the best

I may seem harsh on Mills, but signing autographs doesnt win championships.
If how they treat kids were a requirement for rings, Travis would still be here.  IMO, Travis is the nicest professional athlete I have ever met. With him gone, the gloves are off.

Again, we agree.  I took my boy to the autograph session with Trav, Web, and Sergio...GO the headliner.  It was at the grand opening of the newest Dick's Sporting Goods on the west side.  Greg stayed long after he was obligated to, and Travis genuinely seemed upset that he was being escorted away when the time was up, frequently turning around as he walked, apologizing.  An employee there saw the long face my son was sporting as we made our way out of the store, having gotten to the front of a long line, only to be turned back by someone's schedule.  He took the picture of Travis we had and said he'd be right back.  No more than 5 minutes passed when he returned...smiling.  Apparently, TO autographed our picture while IN THE BATHROOM, before leaving and was again apologetic for having to go.

I share this with all of you not because I like talking about my son...which, like any proud parent, I do! ;)  I tell these stories because I feel they are relevant (at least in this market).  They also seem to be the stories you DON'T hear enough about amid all of the speed racing on UTube, the DUIs, the numberous cases of spousal abuse, the use and abuse of performance enhancing drugs, even dog fighting...and the list goes on and on.  The emense size of such a list is the very reason that stories like these need to be told...and heard.

Great Story, makes me that much happier for Outlaws deal he signed over the summer, as well as his chance at a new beginning in New Jersey.

I don't know, I just think it's silly to think a scoring guard with a solid jump shot as well as an ability to get around his defender is a bad thing on a team with a 2 guard who works better with the ball in his hand, worked for jordan, works for kobe, guess it doesn't work for portland. sick of arguing it, don't really care that much because I'll never get to call the shots anyways. Either way were going to have a good hearted team no matter who Nate throws out there, and I guess that's what I'll have to focus on.

Without a doubt the most ignorant comment I've read on this message board to date. On recent form he would not have finished in the top 10 leaderboard for assists at the world championships if his ball handling was that bad and his turnover rate was minimal - alot of NBA listed players had bigger turnover to assist ratio's.  Patty has been a level headed team first player from start to finish and has done everything that was asked from him. He's a 10/10 class kid and your a fool for typing that low end sh#t.  As a huge fan of this kid I'll put my hand up and say that he just plain got drafted to a team that didn't need another point guard, however he has enough NBA quality skillsets to get picked up elsewhere...watch this space

Signing autograph's agreed does not win championships. A lack of sportsmanship does not win championships. They are not role models. Unfortunately Kobe Bryant,Lebron James, Michael what his face the hot dog dude, could learn a little from real role models and have a little humility. Because whether they like it or not, they are role models. We pay the wages to watch these amazing people play, but play is what they do. I,we work. Right now they are almost asking too much for me to watch them play. If you ask me it should be a requirement for all players to stay after the game and sign autograph's for the kids. I could go on but I wont. Kim I like your posts but let us agree that all players should be more like Patty and Travis instead of Kobe and whats his name again.

We would win with D12, but we would destroy the Blazers in the process. His whole attitude is wrong. Attention whore, spoiled little brat with delusions of being an ''alpha male''.

That''s why I don''t like him, Melo, and Kobe.
